actually i have descided that i am going to start out making the green line from clackamas north to gateway but to start out small im only going between ckackamas and fuller expanding northward as i find more reference materials. not sure if im going to use the s70 or s160 light rail trains as i found both on google sketchup i like the s160's more.
@chadthaxmb87 Well, they didnt exactly forget, this was filmed before the Green Line was open to the public, so it was more/or/less a test train if you will.
This is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time. I can't wait to graduate college and move to Tigard. Are all the commuter trains this efficient? What's everything like in the winter?
We just rode this today transfered from Gresham redline? onto this train greenline? to the town center, it was nice. however i think it would have been quieter if the bottom of the doors sealed up like the older trains did.....
The Blue Line is Hillsboro-Gresham, Red Line is Beaverton-Airport. The Green Line was built with Cement Ties, unlike much of the rest of the system that has wood ties, cement doesn't absorb much of the track noise, I have noticed this when riding this line. The older trains are even louder on this segment.
Mkay, today i rode on an older train on the new tracks and a new train on the old tracks and the wooden tie's really made a difference in the sound and feel of the train, the wooden ties absorb alot of the sound and vibrations:) But the cement ties I bet would last much longer saving us all a lot of money in the long run.
Yes, The cement ties are made to be more durable. They dont decay and rot when wet etc etc, supposedly cement ties give a smoother ride, but that is usually a trait when referred to heavy rail. You may have also noticed the sound got louder when crossing bridges, a giant cement bowl. I am glad they finally opened a line in this area.
Yes its very helpful for us since we cannot afford to drive all the time, But we live way out in Estacada so Trimet still has a lil work ahead of them here. The bus service pretty much sucks here, no late night and no Sundays:( heaven forbid you miss the last 30 on a Saturday!!!
That's like the real thing. At about 1:05, you can see someone make an illegal turn onto Burnside. And at 2:01, in inbound train gets delayed. At 2:46, another illegal (I believe) turn.
I am putting together a video about 1:05 and 2:46, and its going so fast you can hardly see the guy that ran out in front of us at 1:23. As for 2:01, it was a yellow line, in real service she would have come down the same way we came up, we also held up the 2 trains at RQ and Convention Ctr you see come down. But oh well, we were the "Special" train, and not in a short bus kind of way =)
GO PROTLAND!!!
