  • wonderful. I love real music played by real people. I'm certain that if I were sitting in this room it would sound even better; not completely different live like the technologic music created mostly today.

  • Phil's actually playing a Cittern, very similar to and Irish Bouzouki, but not quite.

  • wish there was more of this on the radio...

  • Didn't know Phil Cunningham could play bouzouki... Doesn't particularly surprise me, though!

  • 1 person burned themself shoving the pig's foot a little further into the fire.

  • its almost like they didn't want to stop playing this song...lol..good job

  • Much of American music comes out of this tradition. Folk, Country Western, Bluegrass, Gospel Music etc.

  • Bravo! Awesome! If you want see what these guys of South America (BRZIL, ARGENT & PRGUAY) are doing with music in accord. etc. Video names are:

    - Voninho e Marcelo

    - Tio Mederico- Dvd Os Serranos 40 anos- Sempre Gaúchos

    - CHANGO SPASIUK EN FORMOSA KILOMETRO 11 -10/10/2009 (4)

    - FLAMINIO ARZAMENDIA "KUARAHY RESE"

  • lovely Celtic lilt to a great american old time tune! A little less synchopated a little more Irish. Gorgeous.

  • Who is the one solitary viewer out of 85 that gave this great clip a "don't like it"?

  • You don't even have to see his face in the beginning of the clip - to know it's Jerry Douglas on Dobro!

  • Yeah.... that's food for the soul!!!

  • Excellent. Just pick up your instrument and play along. Feels great. Everyone should learn to play this. At this speed.

Music doesn't have to be complex to feel good.

  • Excellent! I've had the extreme pleasure of seeing 2 of these musicians live - Bruce Molsky (playing with Alasdair Fraser, Natalie Haas, Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill) and Jerry Douglas (with AK+US) and they are top-notch instrumentalists. Always a treat to hease something from them.

  • Played this song with Frog Bridge in upstate NY, loved it.

  • I want this music and these musicians to play into eternity. They make heavenly music.

  • Listening to these players is one of the greatest pleasures of life. So relaxing!

  • Oh my goodness this is SO fun to play along with. Just me and Michael McGoldrick on our flutes. :o) Thanks for posting this. I love it!

  • I always thought this sounded like a singable tune! Especially the B part "chorus"

  • Shove the pig's foot a little further inTOOOO the fire! Everyone now!

  • Sharon Shannon has this wonderful way of driving the rhythm wherever she goes. You can almost hear that beautiful grin of hers.

  • Absolutely magnificent,i could listen all day

  • This music is so good and happy ,it is really

    wonderful.

  • merci Tomscotand I have the dvd it is called transatlantic sesion 3 superbe!

  • I would listen to your videos all the time!

  • ...and Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham, not just Sharon Shannon and Jim Murray.

  • I'm not responsible for titling at start of video.

Full credits are given if you click "more".

  • eh. its played pretty much about the right speed. think saying the phrase "shove that pig's foot further in the bed"... that's about the speed you should be playing this one... at least that's where I've heard it played...

if anything this may be a touch slow

  • Not worth arguing about 3 or 4 beats/minute either way . .

  • Great tune . . but whats best about it is it's played at a steady pace. A lot of old time tunes (in my humble opinion),are played too quickly.

  • Wonderful video. I'm still grinning, wanting to get on my clogging shoes.

  • Excellent Video. I've been trying to learn Pig's Foot from Dennis Ladd's mando tabs posted on Mandolin Cafe. This helps immensely!

  • Great tune and well done!

  • This must be among one of the best tunes in the series, real foot tappin music,Cheers Tom

  • I've got to get this series on dvd. I hope its available soon. thanks so much for posting.
