Hi everyone, dont ever buy axiom keyboard.. I bought last year axiom 61 within a year three keys are not funtioning now.. and i didnt find a place to repair also because people dont know axiom and they dont repair it. i just lost 300 dollars for axiom and lost within a year. Dont ever buy axiom, buy roland. Roland is the best, and incase if you have problem you can repair anywhere.
@MsHyuni funny I have an axiom pro 61 and no problem. By the way, check out the avid authorized repair center on Avid websites. If you had done your homework first, you wouldn't be stuck with a broken k-board.
So how do you rate this compared to a real piano's feel? I'm definitely considering getting this because i want to be able to play things live on a keyboard.
Thanks. If I connect to a laptop with audio. Does it play or I still will have to assign keys. I heard it comes with pre sets. If so, are the sounds of good quality? Can you more or less mention which keyboard sounds are available? Thank you.
Please, right out of the box, am I gonna be able to plug and play? I see people assigning keys, etc. I wonder if the factory CDs enable this thing to be played right on. Is that simple? Which sounds (piano, organ, drums) are immediately available, if any? Thank you. Also, does it play/control any instruments software?
I have a couple questions about this setup. Are you just running your keybord into an interface and then into your pc? Also are you able to import patches INTO the midi controller? Like say.. some East West orchestra patches?
im thinking of buying a axiom 61 so i would be glad to know the problems you had. Im still not sure how nice the half weighted keys will feel, and how well it automaps, 2 issues which are important for me
I bought an "M_AUDIO Axiom 61" controller keyboard about 9 months ago on "Ebay." It cost me $350.00 The keyboard's inner brain broke (it would NOT turn on), so I took it to "Sam Ash Music" in "Miami Lakes, Florida" for repair. I paid $113.42 for the repair. I picked up the controller and months past buy, and I'm noticing a wired "distorted sound" as I press the keys on my "keyboard controller."
It's now 8 months later and the "distorted sound" has gotten really bad and "loud" as I press the keys. This was NOT repair correctly. So #1 Sam Ash's services suck. #2 Don't be fooled buy it's "pretty bullshit." I WILL NEVER PURCHASE AN "M-AUDIO" PRODUCT AS LONG AS I LIVE! Shit made in China has always been cheap!
#3. I recommend you buy a Hardware keyboard. Most controller are made like garbage.
@LittleNegrilio firs off you bought it on ebay, which you bought broken, then paid over 100 to get it fixed to where you could of bought a new one in the first place. I'ts not m-audio that is bad, it's your common sense
No, I bought it on Ebay brand NEW! This was never broken in the first place. So know what you are speaking before you talk shit. Look at how many bad comments are on the internet. M-Audio sucks overall!
Everything made in China can blow a big dick! It's made cheap, fragile, and it breaks easily. Go buy a Axiom 61 keys, I'd bet you in less than a year, you will have to return the damn thing!
@LittleNegrilio I have several m-audio products and they are all fine, you must treat your gear like crap. M-audio has never failed me, i have products over 5 years old, that work like champs. fact is, don't buy stuff from ebay.
man, thats bad luck, but that sounds like you bought a broken controller, because the seller on ebay tricked you, which has nothing to do with the product sold by m audio (apart from it beeing not very stabel maybe). Well what to say, i just ordered my axiome 61 pro today, and im happy and excited...
Im looking at the M-Audio Axiom pro 61. Is that the same size as this. And btw, very nice playing, and good use of the pitch bend, most people just mess around with it, but you put it too good use ;)
@stronagmi Latency depends on your SoundCard, and also your CPU, if the SoundCard is good but the CPU is slow, then it will click and lock up so you have to set more latency. I use NI Akoustik Piano at 5ms latency, don't feel any different from anything else...
hi, i have a question.. does this controller have an output besides the midi out ? i mean, can you use it without the computer? and if yes, how? cos i saw it on the internet and im really interested in buying it...but im not sure. i hope you can help me :) :)
You have power supply option and MIDI Out to control another Keyboards or Modules, but this keyboard doesn't have their own sounds, so yeah... you have to use a PC or something like that
@Smek300 Hey dude, what midi interface are you using? Looks like you have zero latency without any destortion! Are you running a mac or is this a windows setup?
Fl studio, the demo is cool, but what you save, you cant open again until you buy the full version. It is also the most commonly used nowa days. it has Fruity Keys, however, i dont know really sounds the best of all.
Protools is also another one, containing MiniGrand, however unlike FL, Protools is more of a " you already have a full studio and your ready to record."
So, Fruity Loops if you want Easy to use software. Protools, like it says in the name.. Pro :D
u see how u just tapped a key and it was a lower volume then hitting a key hard and getting a louder volume mine is the same volume if i hit it hard or soft still same volume how do i change that
sounds like your velocity curve is set to "fixed" when you want it to be on "normal" To change the velocity curve on the axiom, hit the EDIT button, then go to the global parameter and change where it says VelCurve to normal or normal/high
dude ur just amazing thanks man its new nid and no clue how to get it up hah i moslty use korgs its usally on normal and never had to worry about it thanks tho i been in the music bussness for a whil now still learning things man
I think it depends on whether you have a keyboard that is sensitive to touch/ velocity. The ones that are, generally are more expensive and have heavier keys.
Hey nice playing, I was wondering since the colour of your axiom is black, and the colour of the ones on the m audio website are grey... Do you know if it is an older model... or does it have the same features, im looking at a used one, just wanted to know.
Well, there are "Pro" That are white, and black are the non-pro version. For the life of me I could never figured out what was differnt other then the price. But They also have a oxygen line that is grey I think
the pro automatically setups up all the configuration of each key/button/knob for you for any software right when you start it -saves time and confusion/anger to some people lol.
Yes, keys become a bit sticky after a while you dont play.
So before playing each song, I play a glissando on white then black keys and no problem. When it won't be guaranted any more, I'll have it open to add some velvet where the keys rest.
Playing fast depends on if you're used to semi-weighted keybeds or if you hope Axiom would response like a true piano.
hehe cool "night in tunisia" version, you should upload a longer one! also, very good sound, i'm about to get the axiom, and it looks like it plays really well!
"A Night in Tunisia" is a musical composition written by Dizzy Gillespie (recorded with musicians including Hal McKusick and Al Cohn) in 1942 while he was playing with the Earl Hines Band.
The Pro version has an Automap function similar to Novation's Remote series. If you can afford it and you hate fiddling with programming then its probably worth investigating.
Siempre he utilizado synthes y workstations.
im thinking of either getting the KX61 or this but i know that this has semi-weighted keys. how is the feel for the semi-weighted keys? is it nice? or not that much of a difference compared to any other keyboard.
Hola.
i have a axiom 61 aswell usually just use it for percussion , you make the people that have them look bad LOL definately inspired me to try harder and better to learn
wow! very good! I want to buy an m-audio keystation 88es and I will use also with native intr. akoustic piano, for a low price you have like a real acoustic piano! sounds really great
ok cool. I am getting heavyocity damage and just wanted to make sure. Also do you know what software if any comes with the axiom 61?

Yes, keys become a bit sticky after a while you dont play.
So before playing each song, I play a glissando on white then black keys and no problem. When it won't be guaranted any more, I'll have it open to add some velvet where the keys rest.
Playing fast depends on if you're used to semi-weighted keybeds or if you hope Axiom would response like a true piano.

im thinking of either getting the KX61 or this but i know that this has semi-weighted keys. how is the feel for the semi-weighted keys? is it nice? or not that much of a difference compared to any other keyboard.
