I thought the use of a Teddy Bear as a prop was inspired. I really love watching chair, erotic, and burlesque performances. I think humour is a big part of sexual and erotically based performances--especially if you are already "intimate" with your "audience." As for the complaints from belly dance purists--come on!..all dance is on a continuum in the extent to which it has an element of sexual and "mating" display. In the right time and place, there's nothing bad about sexually charged dance.
I want to try this but I don't know if I am ready to get on that level of a relationship with my teddy bear. How will I look at him the same after, it will be so aqward.
My logic was, is it is difficult to practice these concepts without a partner, and I thought it would be to wierd to have a man in the chair (and who wants to learn a dance with their partner in the chair), so Teddy volunteered. HA!
