They are parallel to the ground like they are "flying." Im not sure exactly, but tatsu is around 200 feet, and kingda ka is around 450 feet.

the goggles might not be a bad idea. when ever you ride kk front row, by the end of the launch section, you cant see very much because of the wind, so the goggles (although they probably arent neccesary) might make the ride more enjoyable.
