@EldeTaberna Yea, and you know, it's not even a shiny photo paper or anything. I've never used photo paper. This one is shiny just from the thick black ink, it always comes out kinda reflective. But then, the mini fig in plastic is shiny too, so there ya go. : )
@iitzJason I usually use 65 pound weight card stock. However, I happened to have some 100 or 120 pound weight cardstock, (thicker) so I decided to use that for this one, so it was a bit sturdier. : )
I bought that one at walmart, but Target or Staples or Office Depot etc, probly have some variety too.
@iitzJason Sure, I'd be glad to. However I am going on vacation right now, so I probably wont be able to reply for a while. Sorry about that! Keep watch on the instructions, they help a lot, and you can watch the vid again too for some 3d references... that's what I do sometimes. : )
@ninjatoespapercraft Oh hey! I didn't even know you had a YT page too. lol. I kept meaning to go back and post a link to my vid on ur comments sections of ur main page, but kept forgetting.
Thanks for the compliments, but thanks even more for the great model! It's FANTASTIC!
Have you seen the new Kre-O Transformer models? Those mini figures are pretty cool too, lil more detail in the shape, but a lego fig at heart.
@chris24jc I hadn't seen them, but now that I have it's not too difficult to see where they got their inspiration, no... I guess the LEGO minfig patent must have expired recently... ;o)
I'm actually working on a new LEGO minifig right now but it's an M:Tron astronaut with a space helmet and airtanks, not a Transformer... ;o)
I have a hall of fame section on my main papercraft webpage, so I could post a pic of your captain Redbeard and a link to your video there if you want to?
@chris24jc Haha, not Tron the Disney movie though! The *M:Trons*; they were LEGO astronauts in the '90s! ;o)
But if your friend likes Tron the movie, you can find several nice Tron models on the Disney Experience website, like the lightcycles (2010 and classic versions), classic recognizer gate, identity discs and more.
There are some more models on the Disney Family site and other sites, you can easily find them with Google. ;o)
I added your vid to the hall of fame btw, I'll send the link!
Holy crap! The first thing I thought when the video started was that this was the actual lego figure and that you would then compare it to the papercraft thing. For like a second or so.
This is awesome! Once i tried to make a 1:1 minifig torso out of an eraser, but failed.

@chris24jc thx would regular printer paper work too?
iitzJason 8 months ago
@iitzJason No, i wouldn't suggest that. It would be too flimsy; not strong enough. Especially with the ink, makes it kinda wet and soggy. : )

This is probably one of the most comprehensive reviews of one of my models haha, I love it! ;o)
You did a great job on the model, it looks great and very strong, and you have some good tips for building it! ;o)
I'm glad to hear that you had so much fun building it!

Oooh, Tron! Nice! Can't wait to see. My buddy is big into Tron, so I'll probly make that one for him. ; )
