  • I remember eating this burger only once!

And believe me it could make a maggot VOMIT!!!

And it didnt last long at all!

  • I know hard to beleive but it was burger to eat

  • What actually melts in the burger? The cheese is already liquefied.

  • Looks pretty good :/

  • This was a very good burger, and it was out during to 80's

  • The release of the chedder melt sandwich from Mcdonalds probably had to do with where you lived at the sometimes from what I have heard before is Mcdonalds will test certain sandwichs in different parts of the country. At least they still have the fishermen's fillet. Carl's jr.

  • i felt like singing the song baby come back to me

  • The chedder melt started in late 1991 from what I remember. It was a pretty spot on sandwich. I forgot all about that sandwich for years now. I don't remember when they stopped manking it. but I do know it was not mid 1993 because I move around alot and did at that time also. and I remember where I was when I had the chedder melt and I had moved from there long before 1993. Check out mcdonalds on the overpass in upper state New York WILD!!!!!!!!!! OR DID THEY GET RID OF THAT.

  • @klwneu It was much earlier than that. I worked at McDonald's from 1986 to 1988 and it was brought out three times during my employment there in MI. I remember that commercial. it is from the late 1980's.

  • @MrsGrumpy4 What the heck happened with the 80's satalite tv was somethin special the bears were winning in sports zennith television sets were as high tech as things got. Cars ;pre 80's ran forever. it was always bright new horizons. People still had to socialize in person for the most part. either I'm just old or not old enough to see the flaws then. P.S. their is a big difference between the Chicago bears and Chicago in my mind now.

  • I worked at McD's in the early 90s. The "Burger of the Month" ran from about mid-1993 until late 1995. I remember this one, we had it several times during that period.

  • I WANT ONE!!! BRING IT BACK! BRING IT BAAAAACKKKK!

  • That was from the late 80s. It was actually one of the least disgusting things on McDonald's menu.

  • @FlyingPinkUnicorn It's From 1993.

  • I used to love those things.

  • I'm eating one right now :3

  • Mmm artificial cheese

  • @NYKID10014 Mmm artificial food

  • @NYKID10014 and processed with chemicals... yummyyyyy

  • Bring it back!!!! Stupid mcrib comes back but no cheddar melt.. realy mcdonnalds?? They could get rid of the stupid anus burgers for starters. The best part of mcy d's is the slopy microwaved burgers.. if you want a healthy meal your a moron for going to mcdonnalds, so bring it back lol

  • the mcrib has like this weird cult status now and i think people eat it for irony and some sick and twisted individuals actually enjoy the taste i suppose so thats why they bring this back ..i dont care much for fake cheese wiz but i liked the onions...i wish they had the smaller version of the big mac that was a dollar i think...they only had it for a short time in nyc when i went to school , it was basically all of the stuff on a big mac but without the unnecessary extra bread or meat or $

  • Im from Brazil but I live in Florida now and I miss sooo much Cheddar Mcmelt!Everytime I back to Brazil I only eat this one, number 4 LOL I love it, I can taste the cheddar!!!! Anyone knows wy they dont sell it anymore in USA???

  • They had this sandwich not too long ago, too. It was delicious, just like the Spicy Chicken sandwich they had... and the California Cobb salad, and the McSkillet Burrito... and the Chicken Fajitas...

  • lol what a pathetic burger, whats the difference between a regular cheese burger n this?

  • it ran from March 17, 1992 – February 16, 1995

  • THIS WAS ACTUALLY THE BEST SANDWHICH THEY EVER HAD!....BRING IT BACK!!!!!

  • Those new Angus burgers are so damn expensive i hardly see anyone ordering them.

  • I wish they still had this burger. I loved the cheese.

  • Take away the onions for me and I'd get this burger if Mcdonald's still had it

  • DAMN this looks good

  • My husband's all-time favorite McD's sandwich. He still mourns its loss.

  • RIP

  • McDonald's was my first job, got hired in March of '88 and the cheddar melt was being made at that time. It only lasted for a little while, I wish they would bring it back but it was a pain to make the terriyaki onions. This may be the reason it hasn't been brought back...

  • Great burger

  • who could eat that garbage. it's not food. their meat is so full of sawdust and eyeballs that it literally tastes like boiled dog food. their cheese tastes like glue. fucking gross.

  • @jwallbanger if that's true than sawdust, eyeballs, dog food and glue tastes must taste fuckin' awesome.

  • @shadowtygo what makes it "awesome" is the massive amount of MSG in their food. MSG is like tongue cocaine. It makes potting soil taste good.

Without that toxic MSG Mc'D's would taste like the dog food it is. Medical researchers have a nickname for MSG, they call it "cancer fertilizer." So when you're going through chemo, try to decide at that point whether all those sawdust and testicle burgers were worth the excruciating pain, hair loss and vomiting you're going through. (I'm lovin it!)

  • @jwallbanger

Good grief. No place to begin with someone who has completely drank the Koolaid.

  • @MrCorporalTunnel "drank the Koolaid?" Do you understand what that metaphor refers to? It's history?

If you did you'd know that metaphor is in reference to someone who has been brainwashed so thoroughly they would gladly commit suicide for their brainwasher.

You watch McD's commercials and eat their nasty chemical slop without worrying about what they're putting in it. That shit is going to kill you. If anyone has "drank the Koolaid" it's you.

  • @jwallbanger

Ever heard of moderation? Too much of one thing is bad, but extremes on either side of the issue are closed-minded. That's what I'm saying. Sensible people know that McDonald's food isn't the best choice and they shouldn't eat it all the time, but your rhetoric is more than a bit extreme. I tend to think that most people who engage in this hyperbole just don't like big rich companies. It's mostly Envy and a bit of indoctrination, basically. Just my opinion, though.

  • @MrCorporalTunnel Yep, heard of moderation and fully agree in theory. In practice however, it's not too common. And I think it's because that shit really is addictive and completely by design. Hit McD's on a Sunday afternoon and count the double wide asses strolling in and out, with junior lardasses in tow.

And I love the way I'm accused of "envy" anytime I criticize the practice of big rich companies and their Machavellian ideas. As if I'd be jealous of a person with no soul. (More like pity.)

  • Well, it's their choice to eat wherever they want. That's another conversation, though. We could talk about personal responsibility, but I won't get into that other than to say we should reap what we sow. If you make the wrong choices, it's nobody's fault but your own when something bad happens like a heart attack or other health issues. I can see that I was right in that you don't like big rich companies. I'm not defending them, but they didn't force that food in to their fat customer's mouths.

  • And I don't advocate the government or other groups mandating what we all choose to eat just because some of us are irresponsible. To take the choice away would be worse than keeping it because of the loss of liberty. I can't follow the hyperbole to it's ultimate conclusion, which would be to control us in some fashion and to cannibalize the companies that make the products (Like what has happened with cigarettes and cigarette companies) Decisions like this should be left to individuals.

  • @MrCorporalTunnel Honestly I know very few people with a brain who like big rich companies. Everyone has some kind of complaint. Big companies externalize the environmental and social cost of doing business onto the public in every way imaginable, then blame the public for not making better laws to control their bad behavior. Big companies are destructive and out of control.

I agree about personal choice, but that doesn't make taking advantage of the stupid and naive morally acceptable behavior.

  • @jwallbanger

Well, who do you define as stupid? And by your criteria of 'stupid' do you imply yourself as some kind of authority over those who are 'less stupid' than yourself? You can advocate for education and that would be fine. However, what you are saying is that you want to be in control of others because they don't know what is best for themselves vis-a-vis 'big rich companies'

  • @MrCorporalTunnel Good god do you think I have time to knock out a novel here?

Not elitism, reality. You think anyone would choose obesity? Do our children make informed, rational choices? Obesity has consequences for all society.

If letting big companies sell bad products is your idea of "free choice" then logically you'd support crack cocaine on supermarket shelves. You wouldn't trust people with that choice, would you? We are all paternalistic with one another. It's called civilization.

  • You seem to think that these people are helpless against 'corporate deception' (Machiavelianism) and need your help, but at the same time you loathe them for their stupidity. I guess you believe others should be 'managed' by a greater entity, one that can make decisions for them that they can't quite possibly can't make for themselves? I sense some elitism there, bub and that is the problem in your argument.

  • @MrCorporalTunnel

I don't know why you think it's OK to assign such narrow concepts to what I've said (putting words in my mouth.) That's not respectful debate and it proves you don't understand half of what I've said (I'm not sure you want to either.) And you definitely don't get what I said about people's complaints against big companies and their externalization of social/environmental costs. You should try rereading a few times, maybe think for a while before you post a 5 paragraph rant.

  • As far as 'some kind of complaint', that is contrary to the market news for McDonald's. They are doing better in this industry than anyone and their stock price reflects that. Certainly there are people who have complaints and I have my share against McDonald's myself, but it was mostly a local issue. i.e... Undercooked food at the time, shitty service, etc. As far as their overall business model, it isn't perfect, but it works and people buy and eat their shit, by their own choice, I might add.

  • BTW, There are plenty of persons that don't hate 'big rich companies' but see them for what they really are. They are fulfilling people's needs and wants and that has societal value whether you accept it or not. That they market themselves in a fashion you find objectionable doesn't make them criminal or their food 'poison' because just because you think so. It is certainly healthy to have some skepticism, but it shouldn't be acceptable to evolve that skepticism into an argument against liberty.

  • @MrCorporalTunnel There are many developing countries where such things are much less controlled and people have much more choice. And in those places pretty sales reps are marketing cigarettes in grade schools, because they can. Is that the kind of "liberty" you want?

  • @jwallbanger

It's when we all become 'children' and wards of the state that bothers me. Of course the helpless deserve SOME protection, I didn't say they did not. You think that most adults are helpless, though. Yours is a strawman argument.

  • @jwallbanger why the hell should you "worry about things" you know what kills? worrying about shit all the damn time for example "Will this kill me?" "Will that kill me?" "Am I going to die for eating this" that Stress will kill faster than cyanide.

  • @jwallbanger Oh No I'm supposed to care? I would probably end up getting cancer from anything, lol I wouldn't waste my time doing chemo, just kill me at that point, I like mcdonalds I will eat what tastes good, even if it kills me, I rather die than eat "Purely Healthy" food, which will probably end up being contaminated with E.Coli and a multitude of other things, but have fun being perfectly healthy and never getting a disease (yeah..right..)

  • @shadowtygo Sorry for assuming you care about your health and your life. My mistake!

Hey I hear antifreeze has a sweet, yummy taste if that's all that matters to you.

  • @jwallbanger Oh Really? I never realized eating mcdonald's burgers = to drinking anti freeze! WOW I guess i have a gut of steel since the big mac I ate last month didn't kill me that day. jeez I must have deh bes immune system in teh world!?!?!!

  • @shadowtygo

"I will eat what tastes good, even if it kills me"

    Your words, not mine.

  • @jwallbanger Not when it's a gauranteed death such as anti-freeze, a hamburger will not kill anybody unless eaten regularly

A brain should not be wasted, especially in your case.

  • @shadowtygo Oh OK then. See I took that statement of yours at face value- that you would eat whatever tastes good even if it causes your death. Antifreeze fits that criteria perfectly. As does cyanide which I understand has a delightful almond flavor.

I assumed you really actually meant what you were saying. But now that you've explained yourself further I understand that you were just using hyperbole because you think it's cool to sound like a self-destructive jackass.

  • @shadowtygo

If you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you.

  • @MrCorporalTunnel if it has meat, vegetables and is shaped like a hamburger than let me at it, It's my choice I't affecting myself and not only that but I'm aware that mcdonalds, and anything (that isn't pure ) is bad for you, I however am a freelancer I choose to do what I want within the lines of the law.

  • Practically all of that has been debunked on snopes. Special Bonus Question: Do you know what the USDA does?

  • mmm that looks good. now i want some greasy fast food

  • 1991

  • The McD's Cheddar Melt is probably the most missed burger from mcd. As far as 'Burger of the month', practically every restaurant in the nation was doing a limited-time menu item, even back then. I think Wendy's started the whole bit, as a matter of fact. 'Keep Interest and peeps will keep showing up' is basically the philosophy in fast food these days. Those that don't , die. But, I will say that I actually preferred McDonald's old philosophy which was 'keep the menu simple and the prices low.'

  • That looks delicious.

  • thats a pretty good burger

  • I remember these quite well, quite good back in the day

  • They have an angus cheddar melt in my McDonalds

  • @Etheos Really?! Where do you live? I'm surprised the Angus CheddarMelt isn't everywhere!

  • Comment removed

  • @jesusali Puerto Rico. It's a limited time offer.

  • that was bout 1988 i begged my parents to get me one for a long time but i was disappointed it was not so good it looked like the best burger i had seen on tv

  • @coston58 Yeah, i thought it looked around late 80's or maybe early 90's; It's always hard for me to tell when i can't see the copyright year. e_e

  • @coston58

You begged your parents? Can you provide for yourself, at all... or do you get some kind of monthly payment from the government now just because you consume O2?

  • @MrCorporalTunnel You're a real retard. OBVIOUSLY he was a child in 1988 and his parents probably only wanted to buy him Happy Meals. Do you see a lot of 9 year olds dining alone at McD's?

  • @jesusali

I never begged my parents for shit. That would get you slapped at my house.

  • @MrCorporalTunnel your family sounds deranged and disabled.

  • @shadowtygo

They are deranged. I don't like them, but it's nice to shout insults anonymously from behind a keyboard. I do it, you do it, we all do it.

  • @MrCorporalTunnel I would do it to you face If you lived close enough, I seriously couldn't give a shit about anonymity, I redicule and criticize where I like and who I want to do it to, and because this is a website it isn't possible to "shout insults" to someones face when the only medium for this type of social behaviour on these comments is text-based that being said, Do not ask me to by a webcam and speaker to insult you to your face as that would be a complete waste of time and money.

  • The Cheddar Melt is sooo good!

  • mmm looks good

  • My dad brought us cheddar melts one day and I thought they were the nastiest burgers ever!

  • It still exists here at Brazil! <3

  • @diegotakato send me some in the mail

  • I LOVED THE CHEDDAR MELT THEY WERE STUPID TO TAKE IT OFF THE MENU.

AND THEY KEEP BRINGING BACK THE STUPID MC RIB THAT TASTE LIKE CRAP!!!

  • yeah, bring it back!!!!

  • its kind of small this will have to be a feature on the dollar menu unless they have a angus burger version that would be sweet too

  • This was introduced in 1988 as part of an Olympics advertising campaign, at least here in New York.

  • i think this is from 1992 or 1993 cuz they began using what u want is what u get slogan around 1992

  • bring this baaaack!

  • Gotta love that "cheddar cheese sauce". This is why I never get cheese on my burgers. It's not real cheese, it's cheese flavored slurry.

  • I found this existed in the 1980s in Quebec as "McCheddar".

  • It still exists here at Brazil!

it haves sesame on the bread! :D

  • thank you for posting, I had forgotten the cheddar melt....I LOVVVVVED it :))))

  • Oh man, this burger was sooooo good! Not only because of the cheddar cheese and grilled onions, but especially because of the rye buns. It actually had a much different taste than a regular cheeseburger. Unlike the crappy angus burger they have now, which is just a bigger (and much more expensive) version of their regular cheeseburger.

  • i'd hump one

  • I miss this burger! They should get rid of that angus bs and bring the Cheddar Burger back. Wow it was so so so so so good! Hopefully McDonalds reads youtube posts!

  • I miss burger of the month at McD. I like new twists on fast food burgers. And, that used to be one of the best things about Wendy's, Dave Thomas was always hocking some new burger creation.

  • This was definitely 1988 as I made those myself

  • The cheddar melt owned, I wish they brought it back. Also they made a pepermint sundae a couple times during christmas which rocked too

  • In Brasil it´s on sell yet. But I don´t like it. It tastes a litte bitter to me.

  • i wish they'd bring this burger back! i remember one commercial for it had a guy at the end, i think wearing a trenchcoat, looking into the camera saying, "cheddar melt"...(sticks up a thumb like a hitchhiker)..."to go!"

  • This was from 1988.... I happened to work at Mickey D's then and it was my favorite burger of all time

  • Umm....this commercial is from late 1992/early 1993.

  • This was back in the 80's, folks.

  • Please bring back the Cheddar Melt, like the MCDLT,it too was one good burger.I was 14 when I had my first one,I loved cheddar cheese sauce, especially the Arby's melt,I also like Arby's!!!

  • Best. Burger. Ever.

  • Yes,it was and so was the MCDLT,remember that tasty burger?
