@yesac41 Install it yourself it's pretty easy. The only tool you need is something to cut a hole (3 or 3.25 inches IIRC) in sheetmetal. Otherwise it all just bolts right in.
I'm a dummy when it comes to cars but can someone tell me something. When he pulls up and slowly revs the car, which made me spill my baby gravy, and then it takes off....how in the hell do you do that?!?!?!? It's so cool and I wouldn't know because I don't have a car such as this. And is it only for automatics, manuals, or is it just a shift thing? 5 stars vid and car!
@JazzBass7 He is pretty much break boosting. Turbos dont work off of rpms, they work off of draw on the motor, so by holding down the break and applying the break they create boost, as you can hear the turbo spool. This gives him great power on launch. If you had a 6 spd car, you would have to get an anti lag or 2 step, as that also helps build boost off the line.
@JamesSS69RS Oh, ok. So he's applying the brake, and I'm assuming it's a manual car, he's also giving it a little gas so by the time he's letting go of the brake he's zoomin' off. Is that right?
@JamesSS69RS The work off the exhaust gases while the engine is under load (that's the 'term' you were looking for), and saying they don't work off rpms would be pretty fucked up.
you people talk way too much for a video just showing a car do a run.... not to mention HE WAS BY HIM SELF!! there would be no need to argue abt who won!
I'm sure I will catch hell for this comment, but why does it seem that the LS1 goats are holding up and accepting big time mods (cams/turbos/chargers) better than the LS2's. It just seems the LS1's react better.
I have an 04 and would love to go wild on it, but I have too many miles and it will require a good deal of a rebuild before just slapping in upgrades. I love my goat though even being mild.
@wildbloodydragon you have that backwards turbos require far more care and constant checking than superchargers and for stop light to stop light nothing beats a maggie
sick ass car man i have a 06 gto 6.0 and i want to put a single turbo on it but did you change anything with the computer see i dont wont to change the computer or do i have to
There is no need to "change the computer", Install the kit, with supplied injectors and forget the BAP, grab a LPE gss340 fuel pump kit, and a get a GREAT TUNER!!! Cant stress that enough, Porbably cost around 600 for a GREAT TUNE. then its all fun a tires. :)
you need a way to manage fuel. piggy back or a standalone system (not 100% sure whats avail. for gtos) You are looking at way more $ than just a turbo kit if you want it to stay running for more than a few days. Double the price of the kit and you're near what you need. for things like, returnline with regulator, rail, injectors, fuel pump, ems/pback, blowoff valve, hardpipes, etc. if no innercooler then meth injection. I don't think stock motor can handle much psi anyhow.
Stock Ls1 motors have been known to run for years on 7-9 lbs of boost. Also, the stock fuel bucket is regulated. no return, but regulated. and upgraded fuel pump and injectors is all that nessacary for around 600whp. sorry to burst your bubble man. Now if i was looking to get SERIOUS, id run a boost refrenced fuel regulator with a fuel return, sumped tank with external a1000 fuel pump.
one more thing, the stock ecm is more then capable of controlling that kind of power and fuel requirements. I would say you should jump over to ls1tech and check it. lots of good info from years and years of racing and building. not to mention, everything i have already metioned. not trying to start anything. but like i said. pump and injectors are plenty on a gto. (with proper tune and fuel) But for racing, You are 100% correct :)
a muffler after the turbo isn't going to change the sound of the wastegate venting to the atmosphere. you have to recirculate it back into the downpipe. you wouldn't have a problem with a cop unless you went WOT in front of him, but that wouldn't be a good thing to do in any car.
My only complaint is the unmistakable flutter of compressor surge after the burnout... I would advise some bigger or perhaps faster BOVs, quite possibly from Synapse Engineering.
is that what that is? damn, i feel stupid cuz i always thought that sounded cool haha. my car doesnt do it but i wanted it to. guess not anymore now that i know what it is.
Because he obviously wants to keep his low profile wheels on his aftermarket rims in good shape, so he's using his stock rims/wheels to drag with. Don't you know these things?
Nice run, good hook-up, so little wheel spin off the line! What are you running in terms of suspension and tires? How much boost? Stock internals? What was your trap speed?
what bov is that ????????

@JazzBass7 It's an automatic, he's using a high stall converter + his brakes and loading the engine to spool the turbo.
2 step breaks cars, trust me... and turbos hahahahahaha

@carlosrc007 Turbos are usually better for your car than a supercharger. Id go with the turbo

thats what i been told... well thanks a lot buddy

@carlosrc007 If its a daily driver, go with a turbo. If its track only, go with a pro/super charger.

maybe somehow run a muffler after the turbo
