one thing ive never understood about these powelifters. how they stand with their feet so damn far apart. i could never do that hah. but this is beast
what kind of plates are those. the one's in his bench press video are different too. they look thinner so I'm guessing they're denser and heavier than the ones you see at the gym
chad is a friend of mine, i asked him about standing with that weight and he said once he sets, it feels just the same as 600lbs. Idk, personally i would get squashed, to me 450 feels like a fuckin car. He's a super cool guy though, he will sit and crack jokes and tell stories all night in the gym. This one time i spent 3 hours in the gym talking to him and i never touched a weight lol.
Im In powerlifting to! Im only a junior right now! MY max on squat is 435 right now and by next year im goin to get up to over 500 pounds on squat! would already be there by now if i havent have torn my groin!=( but i planning on slaying in my senior year!
That was fucking awesome!!!! Stop for a second...put away any prejudicial thought...take another look at the number that was sitting on a human man's back! You have to realize that that alone would absolutely crush most of the people that watch this video....let alone to descend with it and then think you could actually stand back up!
does anyone know what that was that he sniffed before he lifted. I know that it was some sort of adrenaline stimulant but does anyone know a product name?
One thing I have to say, though, is that I think some PL should give OL a try. Most of the strength for snatch comes from legs and lower back, and much of the strength for CJ from those same areas. Shane Hammen made the transition, I think some other guys probably could, also, if gyms around the country would make Olympic Lifting part of their agenda. I've been in gyms that won't even allow it!
Because the sport is powerlifting. Olympic lifting (weightlifting) is in the Olympics. Sometimes it's best to keep your mouth shut when you don't know what you are talking about. Just a suggestion.
In this day and age of more sophisticated measuring/timing devices (like you see at the Olympics), I don't see why powerlifters can't have measurement devices hooked to points of their body and have it register on a laser level or similar device. This would remove any question as to whether or not powerlifters make a legal lift.
jim can you tell me why they failed that lift?

most people would be instantly crushed by having that much weight on them. impressive just to be able to stand with it

cut depth a lil short, but handled the weight good. IMO it looked like he was lower than Mike Miller was on his 1220 that he was credited for
SquirtTribePride 2 years ago 13
it does look lower, but it's tough to call. neither of them looked quite low enough, but it's still a very impressive lift

Was called no lift I believe due to ref's not being happy with depth of Chad's squat (hip joint paralell with knee joint).

why do squat powerlifters use such a wide stance?
xrayers 3 years ago
easier to lift ...
H3XZOc 2 years ago
Because that way they don't realy have to descend that much to do an attempt.

less distance to go down - and its less putting strain on the lower back.

if these guys can lift so much why dont they enter the olympics?
mcredsox16 3 years ago
might have something to do with the fact that there's no squatting, benching and deadlifting in the Olympics.
