The only way this would have worked on me is if the parts were off of my exact make, model, and engine car, otherwise I would have known what was up and called him on it.

I have changed engines and transmissions in cars and trucks and I do all my own maintenance except for oil changes where it is cheaper to have it done at the dealer. I know my vehicles, unfortunately most people don't.

You need a bagged wheel mid-engine vehicle and no mechanic can reach under to loosen things for his tow-truck brother. Either that or take the bus, or just wake up rich one day. This video, although comical is a very diluted version of what really goes on out there. Plane crashes are more time consuming to investigate.
