  • @shallowhollowbody ...and elevator music is amazing.

  • one of my ALL TIME favorites!

  • i think... if he can write this song, he can catch the light too :B

  • I just played this song to my mother: (audio only)

    "Who is that?"

    "Antoine Dufour."

"And does he play all the instruments by himself?"

  • cara, vc é o mitooo !!!

  • you're awesome!!! well done!

  • Wow those harmonics he hits and then bends the neck are just magical. It seems to really jump out. I love it.

  • Superman hold the pick with his mouth

  • how can 15 people dislike this ?, please, tell me one thing wrong about this song...... don't worry i'll wait

  • I just bought this CD. I'm pretty stoked!

  • Why the hell did I have to have a break a string on my guitar right now... I so badly want to continue playing! :(

  • he made me cry.

  • Somebody got a manicure! But seriously, nice playing and I can understand why he'd need the length on those nails, great job!

  • @guyfughgtuik He wears fake nails on his fingers, he said so in a FAQ video here on youtube.

  • @QcChopper Hey, whatever works, you know? lol. And it seems to work just fine. :D

  • tight

  • i thing half of the views of this video is mine haha

  • When is Candy rat records going to do a Canadian tour ? more so a east coast tour

  • notice how when he pulls certain faces, his chin disapears into his neck...

    great guy :)

  • 2:15 it's just beautiful (:

  • anyone who has this tab? i can trade it to any sungha jung tab and music sheet you want.

  • ...how?!

  • ...how

  • This has a nice sound, it would be great around a campfire.

  • This guitar style would be great around a campfire. It has a nice sound.

  • @dave1won Actually, the nails are for better note clarity. You do not need nails for harmonics.. harmonics are produced by killing vibration with your finger (typically left handed and you use the flesh of your finger tip... you can do this 1 handed with your right hand as well) and letting the pure note ring out. Instead of "seeing" try "doing" and you'll notice your post doesnt really hold water.

  • Does Antoine not have the guitar sit on his lap? Looks like hes got some mech to hold it up.

  • @Jerkoffkid he uses a support called the ergoplay. It allows you to keep both feet on the ground as opposed to having to have your leg propped up on something

  • OMG....I just had an eargasm....

  • Beautiful. Just beautiful.

  • if you dumb asses can't see the nails are for harmonics your dumber than dumb

    yo yo birds

  • @dave1won you can do harmonics even without nails sorry ;)

  • @dave1won Actually, the nails are for getting a much better sound out of his guitar than if he used the flesh on his fingers

  • he has a separate mic for the percussion on the guitar witch has a bit of reverb

  • fake nails ftw

  • Totally awesome. Antoine masters his instrument. What a joy. Thank you.

  • what is he using underneath his guitar?

  • it is the highest level of musical art when the perfection of technique meets a beauty of melody, most of candyrat musicians stand at this point

  • awesome! but what's up with your finger nails man?...they look like girls because they're so long.

  • @roxasora225 To pick the strings better. makes it sound like he's using a pick.

  • @roxasora225 some guitarists grow nails on 1 side to pluck strings with like pics, whenever u see a guy with 1 hand fully grown nails, the other hand with cleanly cut nails, now u know why ;)

  • Stay focused, and YAH willing, you will be a virtuoso.

When you are invited to perform at the most prestigious, coveted venue..

I hope to be there to witness the whole house in silence waiting on you

to play. Please send me 4 tickets to that show, will you?

    byfaithinhisname1yahoo

  • Antoine, try to keep your feet on the ground with this comment.... okay?

I have never liked the sound of an acoustic guitar, until now; after hearing

    you perform on one..

  • Amazing technique and touch. Your dynamics are top notch, great job.

  • They're not fingerpicks but fake nails glued on. As posted below he has a FAQ on YT that he mentions it.

  • what is the chord called at 2:19 pls, or at least familiar chords pls pls thx

  • geniale....

  • @huck167378:

They are actually fake nails, theres a FAQ video on here regarding it, and its a fairly common practise with decent guitarists, though from my experience you need to put them on half way down the nail to prevent you messing the whole nail up! haha.

  • nice playing

  • Sound kind a like Steve Vai!

  • lol.. he's got better nails on his right hand than most estheticians..

  • @Nlghtxhawk lol those are picks dude. I thought the same thing at first, but look closer, they are the fingernail picks.

  • @huck167378 haha yeah i realized that after.. i once had a guitar teacher that extended his nails by making a shell out of super glue on his nails and used them as picks for his flamenco and classical style playing, it was really cool but it looked terrible lol..

  • I love good relaxing acoustic guitar and this is about as good as it gets. Great playing my man!

  • simply beaautiful. what a diamond of a player. i love how he switches between pick playing and fingerstyle for the voices of the guitar

  • Antoine Dufour plays on Stonebridge guitars; they're absolutely beautiful.

  • what kind of guitar is that? i cant tell by the symbol of the head stock

  • @Tlarsen289 it's a stonebridge, made in the uk i think

  • Stonebridge guitars and mandolins hand made by one of Europes top luthiers Frantisek Furch.

  • its a Stonebridge guitar :)

  • Awesome!

  • I said it before ill say it again, antoine is the man, i trully strive to be at his level one day.

  • what?!

  • that guitar is probably like 5k bro lol

  • holy shit !!!! im not worthy to even touch it yet haha

  • well actually 3 thousand

  • amazing !!!! he makes it sound like he has multiple instruments

  • omg....perfect.... just perfect....

  • Tunning?...

  • whatever guitar he is playing, i want one. if its good enough for him its good enough for me

  • haha yea but i cant see the name, but it probably costs like $1,000 +

  • yes!!!! yes!!!! i finally perfected it!!!! thank u antoine!!!!

  • what guitar is he playing?

  • A Stonebridge guitar! The Stonebridge brand belongs to the "Furch" guitar company! I think they started the Stonebridge brand when they were about to try and get into the US market and so on =)

  • It's Furch guitars handmade in Czech Republic. I think it's sold as 'Stone Bridge' in North Amercia

  • Just amazing fret and finger work , that in it self is art and then the awesome song to listen to. Wow I was blown away the first time I seen him play ! Awesome, just awesome !

  • Its hard to find the right words.Salem said it best.

  • omg that was sick

    this dudes fucking amazing

  • FKN SIC........BRILLIANT

  • That guitar sounds sweeet! Apart from the masterly playing that is..

  • damn how does he do that harmonic bending thing?

  • By actually bending the neck itself, not the string. You'll notice he grabs the neck at the nut and pulls on it slightly. Pulling towards you will give a higher tone while pushing away will give a lower one.

  • +1, it's called a neck bend

  • Comment removed

  • @808eightball808 It looks to me what he is doing is bending the strings between the nut and the tuners. I can't imagine you can actually bend the neck itself to actually change the pitch of the strings.... But maybe. Now I've gotta go try lol.

  • @williamthomasmi10 You can. Atleast I did it on my gibson SG. (electric, i know.)

  • @808eightball808 Not bending the neck itself he's bending the string behind the nut.

  • @DPonders hes bending the neck... not the string.

  • @DPonders No, he's bending the neck itself. Look at 3:01

  • @808eightball808 Actually he's bending the string behind the nut by pressing on it. You can do it the way you said, but it's much easier to do it this way,

  • @themysteryman83 Nope, it is the neck, he pushes it slightly forward. It is quite a popular technique, I use it myself and can play this tune. Look at the video closely as he does it, for example 0:18 - 0:19 and you can see clearly that he has his hand open and pushes the neck, his hand is not closed and pushing down on the nut.

  • @katanamanatee Need to correct my post, I should have said pulled the neck back, I sometimes uses the same technique for open string harmonics but I usually push to get a whammy bar style effect.

  • @themysteryman83 Haha no, he's bending the neck like eightball said. To do what you're saying, he'd have to bend every string at once AND his hand would have to be further away from the body than it is. Not only is it easier to bend the neck, but that's what he's doing. Look more carefully.

  • @808eightball808 thats one of the oldest tricks in the book dude, thats how black sabbath did the intro for iron man. also in some of his vids he'll grab the body o the guitar and push on it to give it a tremolo type effect, its also a electric guitar technique. its kinda cool if you ask me, but im so much more impressed with his use of harmonics and harp harmonics.

  • @shadybrain3424 Actually Black Sabbath did it slightly differently. Iommi pushed the string down behind the nut, rather than actually bending the neck.

  • @808eightball808 I get the same type of sound pushing on the strings

  • Play the harmonic and bend your neck

  • haha. Bend your neck. I think you mean, Bend the guitar neck.

  • dude I played the harmonic and bent my neck but didn't get this sound. What am I doing wrong? My neck really hurts and will have to seek medical assistance.

  • aahahaahahaha

  • @stargate669 You probably have other issues to deal with first if your neck has to seek assistance for you.

  • "Flageolet" - do you mean that?

  • depending on the guitar (most of them, i think) if you pull lightly on the neck it'll bend the pitch a little bit, because you're actually pulling/bending the neck very slightly

  • Best album I've ever bought by the way!

    Existance is an absolute masterpiece!

    -Joe

  • Hehe, the most interesting about your post is your name, sir.

  • nick name*

  • I saw him live 2 days ago and it was incredible beyond words.

  • Damn you sir!

I want to watch this god play!!

    -Joe

  • Amazing! I got no more words to describe how this song sounds to me!

  • oohhh myyy gooodddddd this is soooooooooooooooooo inexplicably AMAZING....Seriously Mr Dufour, your so inspiring...I wanna go get my guitar again :)

  • What model of guitar is he playing?

  • It's a Stonbridge signiture model handcrafted in the Czech Republic for him.

  • thats how a guitar should sound like ... beautiful

  • fantastic

  • wow...

    he has really long nails...

    O_o

  • Yes xD But these nails are just faked. He glued them on x)

But then he plays better =)

  • Beautiful...

  • Потрясающе!

  • anyone knows the tune of his guitar?

  • DAC#EBE

  • he has long ass fingernails lol

    but great song :]]]]]]

    love it.

  • his fingernails are fake. they're glued on or something. he mentions it in a tutorial here on youtube

  • agreed, these people have a hellish memory but i still think doesn't remember everything and that he improvises a bit.

  • actually, when these people play live they usually play exactly as the songs were recorded. Andy Mckee and Don Ross at least. The rest I've just seen on live clips here on youtube.

  • youve obviously never written anything in your life....haha....its just that when you write something you remember every stage of it...when you write something its a journey...its a story...and how can you forget a story you wrote?....its not hard at all when youve wrote it

  • it depends on how well you play, and the way you compose.

i wrote several pieces, some are better, some worse, and i don't remember how to play all the riffs and parts.

i do remember the scales, basic structure and what i wanted to pass on with my music, so i can recreate what i wrote, but not perfectly.

you WRITE so that you can remember, practice and eventually memorize it.

you also write answers to tests. do you remember all the answers you ever wrote?

it's a story too, after all

  • don't disagree with you, but when you are in the "zone" and playing your own stuff, it is surprizingly easy to drift off into improv;) (has happened to me a few times heh;P i'm a drummer/lead singer btw^^)

  • totally agree. Actually I find it hard not to improvise !

  • lol its funny reeding these comments c how stupid u ppl r everythin u guys say is commen sence ahahahahaha but yeh andy is my inspiration bin playin for 5 yeers now nd never stoped yet

  • to bad u spelled common wrong =\

  • and sense

  • too bad you spelled too wrong

  • and sense

  • and been, years, and stopped.

    drunk is hard.

  • people seem to find a debate in everything. Even when its pertaining to the one thing that shold just be enjoyed. This isn't music theory class, this isn't the debate club for egocentric wanna-be whatevers. This is a great guitarist. And if any comments are left. Leave them pertaining to the artist. All the stupid smack talk is well ,stupid. This peice reminds me of his 'into the heart' one. Or whatever its called. Still sounds good.

  • ^your also debating :)

  • He's not, he's TELLING you all to get a grip and behold the awesomeness. That, my friend, was debating.

  • why does he have a bandana tied under the strings at the headstock? what does that do? does it affect the tone?

  • it cuts down on the ringing of the guitar.

  • oh. thanks. I love his sound. Amazing Guitar playing.

  • Well, one can perfectly teach oneself and be able to read music without attending a music college. Of course it's hard, but with motivation and hard work it's possible to make it. BTW, Antoine studied music, but what of Mc Kee, D'Andrea, Valleau and the others? Do you know?

  • andy did not. craig majored in audio recording/ production in college. antoine specifically studied guitar performance as his major at university.

  • Do you guys think he can read music, or wrote this song with using his ability of music reading?

  • he has studied the guitar in college, with that in mind I am assured he know how to read music as to if he wrote this with his ability, I dunnno

  • he definitely can read and write music.

but most guitarists (like antoine and andy etc etc.) just fiddle around on the guitar until the song is complete. then once they have perfected it and know what they have done, they would most likely go through it note by note and write it out musically.

  • How do you know?

  • i've been to a concert of his and he's said to the audience that's what he does.

  • the tuning is E B E C# A D

  • you are very wrong did u jus make up a random serries of notes!!!??? the tuning is DAC#EBE i bought the tabs i no im right =P how did u come up with tht tuning may i ask?

  • Yours backwards, dumbass.

  • what how im right with the tuning hee is wrong hows that backwards what a lame insult it has no meaning im jus confused!

  • His tuning is just yours but starting from a different E string. It might be helpful in future to specify if your going from low to high or high to low tuningwise.

  • i see you commenting on all of this guys videos, your an asshole. why did you buy the tabs haha? thats so lame just watch the video and figure it out if your soo good like you say you are. i figured it out just using this video... you need to chill out stop being so cocky everybody is tired of reading your comments

  • why did i buy the tabs???? because i like supporting underrated guitarists like andy don and antoine unlike u who no doubt trys to get everything in life free i like to no im supporting my fav guitarist unlike u who probs wud download a gf if u cud no doubt uv downloaded everything else uv needed fag!

  • how dosent it when im buying it using candyrats site a % is given to the artist!!

  • Gives them money in return for their music, so...yeah it is.

  • Depends where you buy them roddick

  • However The artist has sign contract with Candyrat and to me it seems like the place tells tabs. This happens to get the Artist some money, as I do recall. May not be a lot of money but enough to know that people care about the Artist themselves.

  • in guitar you start with the bottom e string.. so his was right and yours is wrong.. sorry bro lol

  • no bro! im at college doing my a levels in guitar and ive never heard tht crap u can start either but yes i will admit i dident notice on the other guys tuning tht it was back to front this is y we both shud hav sed from low to high or high to low!

  • if youre in college and havent learned that guitar tunings go from bottom e to top e, then pay attention in your damn classes.. i'm an audio engineer who's been playing guitar for 14 years so.. yeah.. whatever you say there guy!

thats like as basic as it gets.. *shrug*

  • dude i do pay attention and on all the work i have with tunings there done low to high but tbh i dont think there is a correct way of doing it u jus need to actully say from low to high or high to low

  • the nails are needed

    he uses them like picks

    it happens in fingerstyle guitaring

  • breath taking.
