  • She should use a scrub board and wipe with a corn cob! What's wrong with her! She hates the environment!

  • Congratulations .

  • This is great :) I've only done a handful of these things so far, but it's a work in progress. And you even did it with 5 kids! I can't imagine...

  • This is great! We can all make a big difference by making "green" changes in our every day lives. If you are interested in learning more about the environmental issues surrounding cotton, a fabric we all come into contact with every day, please watch our video Why Organic Cotton? The production of conventional cotton uses 456 million pounds of pesticides...every year!

  • haha she must be from canada..she said "a boat". Another great eco friendly tip, have less kids. Less people = less pollution and waste.

  • TOP LOADER WASHER! THE DEVIL!!! USES TOO MUCH WATER!!! haha just kidding good job.

  • the bath water was a bit much for me.

  • Showing this to my kids- I think Almaguer is right, it's not an 'eco house' but it's eco living in the house that you have and doing what you can, which is better than most!

  • If only more people lived like this. Even if people tried half as hard as she does, our world would be in better working condition. Well done, Rachel.

  • A great pioneer in her own right. Great job Rachel! However you can also replace your trash bags w/ the latest style that is made from corn starch rather than recycled plastic. LED lights work better than the new cork screw lights too. Overall you're doing an excellent job though. Kudos to you!

  • It's good in theory. But it seems a little bit excessive.

  • great to see this being done all the way back in 2007! ;)

  • many people will make a HUGE difference!!!

  • sounds expensive.

  • I love all of your eco-friendly ideas! You should check out housetribe(.)com to share them with other home owners. Its a really fun and easy to use website.

  • Nice efforts, it would be great if more people were conscious but it's interesting to see how much of this is really about her 'eco-consumerism'. The sad fact is by virtue of the North American lifestyle folks there -- recyclers or not -- are still using way more resources than 80% of the planet's inhabitants. Don't fool yourself, although the marketing department is eager that you do!

  • Sorry, but this is the kind of "eco houses" that aren't ECO houses, they are just adapting rules, ways of life and recycling methods to help earth, but a real ecohouse is made of special components, especial materials, it has to be well oriented, isolated, etc.

Not for using kleenex you have got an ecohouse, i mean, congratulations! but that is not an ecohouse.

  • Very inspiring, I hope I can get to your level of eco-friendliness!

  • nicely done rachel

  • Good for you!!
