Wow, for the people that don't under stand why he has a tach with a shift it's because he's probably shifting it manually. Ive got a 3,000 stall in may car and when I'm racing I'll pull it down in first and pick my shift points.
I got this same combo, 306, 303y aluminum heads, 1.7 rockers and trick flow stage 1 cam with 600 holley carb in my 68 stang. Sounds very similar and runs strong. Good cheap combo for the horse power.
@7REDDRACO7 I mean to have a tach on a car with an AOD? I'm running a full manual AOD, with 3400 stall nitrous style converter (tighter on lowend) 4.88 gears, carbed 306, AFM cam.
@LeeeMcLeod...Well no, your not stupid. I know what your saying but the motor is beefed a little I guess he would need more than stock to shift where you would want depending on tune. I am guilty of it myself-throwing a tach on a car that when in drive will shift at stock shift point anyway Hell even in another gear it will shift by itself just the way its built I guess. But its a better reference tool than the stock tach anyway. And you factor in that looks dept. ..lol
i used to own a 1985 HO 5.0 but the damn thing broke down all the time :( i loved it but got smart and went import. but i miss the sounds of a 5.0. i had borla exhaust no cats, b303 cam lowered 1.5 inches.. with amer. racing rims.
what kind of gas milage do you get in this? I'm thinking about putting the Trick Flow Stage 1 Top End kit on my 88gt. Just curious on what I'd be looking at.

Pick up a B&M Hammer shifter. Get rid of that embrassing stock shifter. Other than that, sweet ride.
