  • My Favorite OLD FLEETWOOD MAC SONG =)

  • I always find it amazing that Jeremy Spencer did so many of the vocals, with Peter standing by, with his amazing voice. He just had something that spencer could never bring across. Is it because Peter couldn't sing and play at the same time???

  • @z: Main reason: Peter gave full effort backing Jeremy, (making FM a great 2-guitar band), but Jeremy refused to back Peter, (making them sound like a 3-piece, never Peter's intention): Peter "let" Jeremy do more to make the band sound better as a whole. Danny was added, not to have 3 guitars, but to finally have 2 guitars on Peter's tunes. Danny's guitar work was integral to Peter's best original material, (FM's best work). Jeremy's guitar was non-existent on that stuff.

  • @piers40 lol i didnt read your comment first but its cool to know that you know and i know the true origin of this song R.I.P. Robert Johnson

  • robert johnson did this song first i love this version thank you

  • We used to play both versions in a band called The Rhythm Doctors, here in Hamilton, NZ - and we rearranged the lyrics a little so that we started out with the chorus first in ".... My Time Ain't Long" so it didn't start off sounding the same as "Dust My Broom" - "Dust My Broom" also had a long drum fill between the end of the chorus and the next verse! Made them sound a little different.

  • Dust My Broom by Elmore James covered by Fleetwood Mac - can anyone confirm:

Spencer slide guitar work but Green on vocals?

  • @Piers40

    nope thats spencer singing aswell

  • @Piers40 I red on wiki, and there were more interesting things to read on that page: "Dust My Broom" is a blues standard originally recorded as "I Believe I'll Dust My Broom" by Robert Johnson the Mississippi Delta blues singer and guitarist on November 23, 1936 in San Antonio, Texas. The song was originally released on 78 rpm format. There is an ongoing dispute as to whether the song was originally written by Johnson or by his contemporary, bluesman Elmore James.

  • @Piers40 Jeremy Spencer on vocal

  • @Piers40 this is Spencer singing not Peter

  • always been dust my broom as far as i know , but a great track no matterv what you call it !

  • I was first a fan of the latter-day Fleetwood Mac [the Stevie Nicks version, late 70s, and then the 80s] and then I discovered the older stuff. Totally different, but I just love this version of the band. Every song that I have heard is awesome!!

  • I love this band!

  • Sure it is. And that's Jeremy Spencer, the Elmore James guy in the group.

  • who is she????

  • Nice to see they give credit where it is due unlike another band from that era ; )

  • Yeah - good song, but it's Dust My Broom - still love it

  • @SweetUniverse I heard the dude say he was gonna dust his broom, but if this is indeed "Dust My Broom" [i haven't listened to that yet], why do they call it "I Believe My Time Ain't Long?" Was that a standard thing for blues singers, to record a song and re-title it??

  • i cant express how I love you man ! I ll see you front row in 2 days !!!!!

  • Elmore James' - Dust My Broom, that is Spencer there who was very influenced by Elmore

  • but they also did Dust My Broom on Mr. Wonderful...??

  • it's called i believe my time ain't long(dust my broom) by elmore james, king of slide guitar

  • Check out roy rogers slide guitar and freddie king... It's like "look over yonders wall"

  • 1967 is the year I was born. This song was made for me :).

  • wasnt this dust my broom by robert johnson originaly?:S

  • @mikeblueskid On behalf of blues lovers, historians and RJ himself, TY for your post! It is important too preserve the Blues!

  • @debmo1 its a constant wounder with this song it could even be a traditional sung before johnson!

  • This is the original single version of the track featuring temp. bassist Bob Brunning.

The CHAIN anthology features an different recording of the song recorded a year or so later with John McVie, and instead of a harmonica there's a piano playing throughout (Christine Perfect?) Don't know where exactly the later version originated though. Sounds like it could possibly be live in studio.

  • is this song not called dust my broom??

  • The original, yeah!

  • it is dust my broom :)

I Believe my time ain't long is a version alike but the first lines start with I Believe my time ain't long =)

  • yes its a Robert Johnson original

  • Yes, the original song by Elmore James is called 'Dust My Broom' but Fleetwood Mac decided to call their cover 'I Believe My Time Ain't Long'. Don't ask me why.

  • nope... its the same rythem but they its another song :)

  • excellent the best of the brit blues

  • The best blues band ever to come out of Britain...Jeremy spencer on vocals and slide guitar, there is a vid out of Peter Green's guitar collection.

  • Classic Blues.. awesome!

  • E blues baby

  • McVie in Daisy Dukes hahaha

    diamond tune this is.

  • There is a great album called "Fleetwood Mac in Chicago 1969" with a really good version of this on it. or maybe im thinking of the Boston Tea Party performance.

  • If you grew up with this, it pretty much true. We are getting old and grey!

  • Truth in Blues. Great listening to Mac playing. Love that bass

  • What's not to love!

  • Thanks for sharing the blues!

  • Must have been one of the most popular blues songs of the period. I think just about every blues group I saw in that period did a version of it.

  • thanks jimmy for posting this - The Spencer davis group do a good cover of this under dust my broom" originally by ???

  • Can't really say who its originally by. Robert Johnson recorded somethin like it back in 27 but that definitely won't be the original

  • well elmore james played with robert johnson when he was in his teens

  • Elmore James "Dust My Broom"

  • @Discfiend69 It's not from Elmore James but from Robert Johnson ...

  • great idea filming the record playing...

  • The name of this song is: Dust my broom

  • written by Elmore James

  • @Tzaosirus7 they did two versions, this one is officially believe my time aint long

  • @elstroshitnonstop - I stand corrected!

  • @Tzaosirus7 lots of blues bands brought out the same song twice with a different name. crafty little buggers. i have an original fleetwood mac compilation that has both versions. both are identical.

  • great song, thank you!

  • Very nice. Thank You!

  • thank you so much for sharing this
