Well my first guitar was a Squier, which a cheap division made by Fender. I didn't know anything about brands or guitars when I first started off, so I just got the starter Strat Pak. After three years, it was time for an upgrade and I tried out a number of guitars before buying my second Strat and I felt it was the most comfortable and had the best sound out of the ones I tested, taking into consideration what fit into my budget. I only say this with the Big Block Strat though, not any Strat.

Great covers and pretty versatile, but I think the Les Paul would handle alternate tunings better than the Strat. If you go for lower, dropped tunings, I'd suggest you use your LP while you stick with standard to Dropped D tunings on the Strat.

ummm... try tabs first with a pick... dont start to finger pick and start with chords with... then ull have a hard time making the transition from chords to tabs if u start with chords first... and same with switching to picking from finger picking. i made that mistake im lucky im 11 i got time

It all depends on your musical background and preference in what kind of music you want to play. If you wanna play electric guitar and stuff like this, then I started off just picking one up and trying to play simple songs and power chords. Practice and watch video lessons for the basics, and once you get them down, try to explore a bit on your own. Do NOT develop shortcuts or bad habits though, as they will cost you in the long run. Most important of all, have fun when you're playing!

its funny. this song is avtually easy. when i learned this song, it was very easy to learn. not overwhelming at all really. the only hard part is the solo (if you cant do sweeps. but even then, the sweeps werent very difficult)

the number stands for the fret its played on and all the - <-- things are the strings

so if you have -----8-------9

you play on the 8th fret then on the 9th

or if it says ----9b--- then that usually means a bend
