This is amazing I love it. I`d like to bet one day in the future there will be robot ethics laws. Example you can`t produce a robot to copy a dead relative or someone you lost. You can`t model robots on famous criminals. So many scary applications. Your fired clear your desk we got a robot taking your place that dont need to be paid and can work any hours. Can bring dead famous people back to life in realistic robot form. Scary future.

there is sumone in the back with a computer wirelessly programed to the andriod. what ever that person writtes on the keyboard is what the android is going to say. thats why everytime matt (the human) speaks the android waits awile then gives the answer. thw writter needs time to write it so thats why the android waits a lil between each answer

I wonder whether if someone puts a command into the computer for each time the robot makes the next speech, or whether it is all pre-timed at once. I also wonder how they put such expressiveness into a mechanical voice.

I see they now have Jules' head on a body. I wonder when he will be capable of physical interaction, like handshakes or hugs.

Everything this actroid says is scripted, in every one of the videos. It is an actroid, made to mimic people, maybe to help a teacher teach his class from home through the actroid. Every way this robot moves and every word it makes is not its own. It probably doesn't even have AI(but the facial expressions are still very impressive).

I've got to say this is VERY interesting. Maybe machines can be programmed to learn & grow. This is the 21st century after all. 25 years ago, PC's were still new.

Actually, machines are being programmed to encourage them to learn and grow from what they recieve... I do believe Cleverbot is a primitive version of this. It's a bot that actually does take what people imput and use that to expand it's learning and responsive behaviour, rather then just preprogrammed responses. *Shrug*

True, but a computer program without input from visual & / or aural stimuli ( essentially a blind & deaf / hearing - impaired virtual robot ) can't really learn like a robot like Jules has the potential to. Robots & A.I.can't really learn from mere descriptions of the world, it's like trying to describe a leaf to someone who has never seen a plant or tree.

Some robots would qualify as " autistic ". I say this as someone who's studied autism to a degree.

he's not really programmed. Rather, he has a really really really reallye ally really realyl ralyela yaly ayalyalay allhlyaay LONG library of words, with definitions, how to use them, when to use them, randomness factor with different responses per cue, etc. Plus, he's got a bit of processing power to think...i think, because he said in one vid he thinks. Eh, i'm not an inteligence programmer.
