You are correct, that is a heron, notice when it flies it's neck is in an "S" shape. Cranes fly with a straight neck. I agree cranes can be a bit dangerous. I hunt sandhill cranes and they aren't scared to square off with you when wounded, although they are little match for a 12 gauge!
Pahkwesikan you sure about that? Geese (smaller and weaker than this bird) can break a persons leg with just their wings. Look it up. Birds are often underestimated.
over reacting much? its not like an orangutan where it can tear your arms off... it would make some damage if it goes for your eyes... or scratches you in the face (in the right spot) with it's nails. but seriously... XD
and its a great blue heron... not a crane by the way.
