I believe that the end result is self defense regardless of what the system is or what the story behind the system is. I don't believe any country is completely free of influence when it comes to their respective combat styles, but I believe that those influences should be acknowledged. Example, I teach Krav maga knife/gun defense along side my Kuk Sool teaching. Honesty.
Kuk Sool's founder studied the following martial arts: Siaplki, MYDBTJ, Hung Gar Kung Fu, Hapkido, Wushu, and anything else he could get his hands on. It is listed with the World Kido Federation as a "hybrid martial art" and the story line that you find on the Kuk Sool Won website is not embraced, or taken serious, by In Hyuk Suh's own brother In Sun Seo, president of the World Kido Federation. Not everyone out there believes what they have to say. I find Kuk Sool to be a great hybrid art.
