  • The paintings and pictures are not of Okinawa and the Ryukyus but are of mainland, Japan. The rhythm and lyrics are Okinawan and Sakamoto has put his new version on a beautiful Okinawan Children's Lullabye. Singing are the Original Nene's with the Okinawan sanshin. Some songs have a tinge of melancholy. I like this version Thank you for posting it.

  • 信じられない

    This is indeed so lovely and spiritual song. I feel the same way as you feel. It makes me feel so melancholic and improves my desire to go to Japan again and to go Okinawa especially this time.

  • Just as my fingernails are stained with the pigment from balsam flowers,

    my heart is painted with the teachings of my parents.

  • pure beauty

    :-)

  • Although the stars in the sky are countable, the teachings of my parents are not.

    Just as ships that run in the night are guided to safety by the North star,

    I am guided by my parents who gave birth to me and watch over me.

    There's no point in possessing magnificent jewelry if you don't maintain it;

    people who maintain their bodies will live life wonderfully.
