I see your point. However, I think that the studio version is outstanding too and in some way, more original: this recording dates from 2007 if I'm not mistaken. AC's sound has evolved completely in the past two years.
I see few similitudes between Strawberry Jam and Merriweather, they're completely different. I think the way they approached to their last recording is rather less visceral, so the screams wouldn't fit there.
i agree that the screams wouldn't fit the sound, but i just think that woo gets annoying and i just think they could have filled it with dave or noah doing something else with their voices or just have the music playing
It's a droning track, like The Velvet Underground, Stockhausen, My Bloody Valentine, Brian Eno & Robert Fripp, Roxy Music... did before: the chorus looping is part of the effect. The intention, as far as I'm concerned, is to induce us to a blind state of chaos, to lead us to some some odd shamanic dance... I don't think it would
What would you suggest to put in there instead of the 'woo'? :-)
It's quite entertaining to answer your comments and, moreover it's a superb free writting-practise.
i think its because i really love ac's voices they do cause dave can pull off crazy noises and noah can bust out awesome melodies and it seems to me like mpp kind of was weak on that aspect of it.
and i know they were going for a certain sound and they pulled it off and its great dont get me wrong its an awesome album.
its just tracks like my girls, lion in a coma, and brothersport i think could have done i little better with the vocals.
Yes, it could have been improved. There isn't a perfect CD :-/ But this barely reaches that barrier. Though being the most famous track from MPP ( I'm talking about My Girls), it is the one which less impresses me, I think that you're right in this point, it sounds a bit sad at some parts...Lion in a Coma and Brother Sport are fine as they are. Hahaha! I do also love the way they sing. A very child-like style, which doesn't mean that it isn't smart :-)
haha i like how avey comes in early on "you're halfway til you're fully grown" but saves it

i think this song is amazing live
but i thought the album version was a little weak, the only part i didnt like of the studio version was the woo's they used
i think they should have just kept dave screaming like a mad man

Would you agree with me if I say that MPP is even better than SJ? ( though they are totally different)^^

im sorry, i believe i am probably in the minority, but i like SJ more than MPP
dave is my favorite vocalist of all time and he just does a beautiful job on SJ

The screaming does make Brothersport awesome live. The CD version is just as good though, I feel. It's pure joy!

This song is a killer. Opposed to "My Girls", which I like better on the studio version, there's hardly anything that beats this one live.
