Hey, my university will be doing this play and I'm wondering what you did about Josie's songs. Did you make your own song out of it or is there one out there?
I think you should be happy to see your mother. She never really understands the details of everything that is happening. Whenever she is presented she is playful, honest, and kind. Everyone in the play is angry and hurt and out of control. Josie, in her childlike innocence, is always a positive source of energy. She has yet to understand how cruel the world is or can be.
Gosh thats a gd question. You shld definately talk with your Director about it. I'm not sure if you'll like my answer but I think mayb wrking out hw Josie views her wrld and her relationships to the people around her..particularly Hester. Give sum thot to their history together? 9yr olds r smart and she may have become a little desensitized to her mums behaviour?
Whats Josies attitude the nxt time we see her? That might give you a clue? Let me know how it goes and break a leg
We're doing the same scene right now, and I was wondering If I should give you some advice? Joise loved her mother, like how Hester loved Joise Swane, her mother. Joise wants to be with her mother at the wedding beecause she missed her not being there. Suggest to the rest of your cast to holdd you back form the shoulders when you go to her. Maybe ask Monica or Caralione to hold you in their arms while to cry softly form all the stress going around. Then again... you are 9
I also played josie Kilbride last year. its a really great part! At this point i acted quite ahocked, but mainly upset & i cried. Josie would be devastated because she really wants her mum and dad to get back together and she can't stand to see her mum being discarded and hated by everybody - remeber she offers to leave with her mum, so she is obviously desperate to help. Anyway...its brilliant & i hope it goes well!!!!!
Congratulations! Try to find Hesters volnurability cause she is a strong woman but really volnurable and tortured. If you can find those moments it will help color the lines otherwise you can feel like all she does is yell when infact shes very fragile.
It was brilliant! They laughed at Father Willow and Elsie Kilbride, they cried when Caroline and I were talking about our mothers, and when Josie and myself died...the dramatic tension was so huge they just sat there gaping. And then they all begged for a comedy for the spring show because they couldn't handle the tension.
i am currently studieing this play for my grade eighht drama exams, it is total effort, and i didnt really understand it, because i never seen it proformed by anyone other that myself, and i find it very interesting to see their take on it, comparired to mine!
