  • o melhor do mundo na minha opnião sou fã dele

  • the 25 that dislike this gotta be hatin lol i dont blame em lol he is dayum gud the best!!!!!!!!

  • Crazy

  • only god designs people like that. Don't get it twisted. Find your way back home

  • Yes Sir...I love the way he just RIPS THRU THE SET LIKE A HURRICANE with much skill, complexity and dynamics OMG! That is exactly how i like to RIP thru my Congas while on set. Tbone

  • He'd be an amazing metal player

  • i'd have played for jay-z...........u might see beyoncee's ass...plus a big round of applause for his endorsment!! ........it's that enough??????

  • alguem sabe o nome desse tema q ele ta tocando ?

  • @h784983 se chama 10 minutes queria achar o play along.se vc tiver avisa.abraço

  • I like the drum channel version of this song better

and for all you bums who have a problem with him playing for jay-z, at the end of the day, one of the best drummers in the game is backing one of the richest rappers in the game, and is most likely one of the highest paid in the game, and doesn't care about what you people think is a "waste". He's making his money.

  • such a waste ive heard jayz is with the illuminati and hes using gods gift sucks

  • Why is it called "Tony Roster is the Drummer of jayZ".. why not "JayZ makes noise for Rony Roster" ? ;) ... this is much better then with JayZ ..anyway.. just my personal taste .. probably

  • wow u were fuckin amazing wen u were 12 and u still are but playing for jay z u got to be kidding me

  • ok he isnt best, he isnt even in 30 best drummers ever, but doesnt matter, he plays good and far more better that many of us, so stop argue and enjoy or hit another video

  • too bad audio isn't better.

  • @LIGHTRONIX i kno

  • @LIGHTRONIX Yeah and this STILL sounds better than some people's HD videos!! lol

  • Oh lala il est trop fort cet homme bravoo!!!!!

  • He's the most consistent of modern drummers i know! He gets just better and better!

  • this guy is a beast ...damn!!!!

  • yea...hella fresh....my personal favorite....

  • OH Hell No!!! 5:20-5:30 is just plain rediculous.... wow

  • this dude iz like da best drummer ever

  • @ThePortia1989

not really.very good but my drum teacher plays stuff like this

  • he could be the best metal drummer in the fucking world!

  • DIS DUDE !!!

  • ty SterlingRe that was truly nice of you to say those wonderful words about my God son. Bless you and yours. :D

  • Jay-Z is actually considered one of the best rappers along with lil wayne so i do not know if thats a waste of talent. Watch one of his videos live! he still tears it up!

  • @ryryven I think what he means is that it's a waste that he's been reduced to a hip hop drummer because it's all about the rapper. There isn't as much opportunity to let loose on an instrument as there is in say Jazz or Rock music.

  • that boy is mad crazy tony is kick ass yo

  • This guy is insane

  • I feel like I shouldn't be watching this...it's too good

  • @ssonicdeafmonkey I know we are not worthy lol

  • Tony is very good drumer

  • Why do they insist in playing along to lift music!!?

  • 100 bucks says he wasnt trying at all

  • He plays for JayZ??

God that's dissapointing. What a waste of amazing talent.

  • hahahah you have no idea. look up show me what you got live. please

  • he proberly get A LOT of cash playing with him , but yeah i agree

  • @kingbolbo1 actually its more breakbeat and if its a disappointed then why don't u try play then well and getting famous?

  • @kingbolbo1 you're dead on right there

  • @kingbolbo1 watch a live video of him playing with jay-z. it really is incredible. jay-z utilizes him very well.

and i can already tell that you are quite close-minded to the very idea of rap.

  • @kingbolbo1 all the hip hop beats you hear. thats him! not a waste far from it

  • @kingbolbo1 i with you on that one. It woud be a waste of talent but the music industry has the purse strings and if you want the money you have to play the garbage to get paid. I saw lenny white, stanley clarke, george duke etc all try to play mainstream funk and bubblegum trying to pay the bills. It sucks but what can you say its a generational thing. They're the ones buying the records.

  • @kingbolbo1 please explain to me how this is a waste of talent? Im not a fan of JayZ at all but I struggle to see why playing drums for him would be a waste. He is putting his talent to use in the way he wants to. Whats wrong with that? I know plenty of amazing drummers who have played in hip hop, dance, D&B, techno, rave etc. Just cause they aren't grinding away to metal or rock or whatever you deem to be cool, does not make it a waste.

  • @kingbolbo1 I agree. There are so many arguments here about why it's not a waste. I'll give a couple that explain why it is a waste. The best musicians should play with the best. Tony should be playing Progressive Jazz/Fusion type stuff. All the great drummers did. An occasional tour like Jay-Z for the money, fine. He needs to get serious about what he wants to be. The solos are obscene. Playing to killer music is better and you can still get your solos within the songs. Session work is great too

  • @kingbolbo1 Money!

  • @kingbolbo1 playin' with Jay-Z is certainly a "PROFITABLE WASTE"....you know money in the pocket....Jay-Z keeps him working and also playin for Jay-Z helped to increase his notariety outside of the drum community. Rather yu hate rap or hate Jay-Z...Tony is truly blessed to be affiliated with such a powerful and well known "SUPERSTAR". Like me...I hate country but I would play for Taylro Swift or Toby Kieth anyday...why?...the money and love for music....

  • @kingbolbo1 but he gotta make his money some how

  • @kingbolbo1 it may be a waste of time but i know for a fact its not a waste of money

  • @kingbolbo1 beats the hell out of playing at home because you work 40 hours a week and nobody has ever seen you

  • @kingbolbo1 yeah, but i bet it pays bloody well....

  • wat snare is that

  • nice man

  • what the fudge was that? there was too much awesomeness in that 6:40 for my mind to handle. i feel so good that i could hear that(figuratively i mean, the sound quality was crap) and yet strangely demotivated to play drums.

  • Gospel Flop

  • This is great music. If u know him u would see that he's not just a session musician. Great musicians play whateva style u bring to the table.

  • I think this one is a song that has a name, anybody knows what is it?

  • He has incredible skills.

But there's no musicality in his play, you know what I mean? Compare to Chambers, Smith, Cobham...

That's why Tony plays with Jay-Z. Hip hop is based on samples. Not Music.

  • i think music is anything that is pleasant to your ears...if im not wrong...

  • Yes. But look for ex. at Bohnam. He was a part of band. Zeppelin was so powerful as the musicians were united. Tony play sounds as separate part of music. It's a lot of technique, but overall: He is session drummer for hire. Not a part of some band. He should change his style.

  • @McSnurf he did. sorta. He plays for Jay Z now

  • @McSnurf understand what you are saying, however, this is music.

  • yh, i think thats why he's known as an independent drummer....he's still a bad ass though lol

  • @McSnurf. . That is one more the more immature comments(however, it is also a standard youtube comment). If you don't like a style of music or a persons playing in that style then why listen to it? Or post comments?

  • Where I wrote that I don't like his play? His technic is pretty good!

Immature comment? I think I play longer than your age is...

  • @McSnurf I guess you didn't read what you typed.

McSnurf= "But there's no musicality in his play, you know what I mean?". Something not being musical to you doesn't mean its unmusical. . .But if you don't enjoy it then why listen/watch?

  • I know exactly what you mean but just disagree on points. Tony should be playing with some killer progressive Jazz musicians. No-one knows why he played with Jay-Z. Maybe they're friends, or maybe the money was phenomenal. Unfortunately the only real thing we can judge Tony on to date are his solos. They're spectacular, but don't make a career. I'm as confused as the next guy as to why he's not a session drummer. The guy who was the deal is the departed Tony Williams. A creative genius.

  • @McSnurf Hip Hop is based on samples of music.

  • 5:21 was jus psychotic...i was like is that some kind of semi-automatic assault riffle...that was really fast....

  • the sound is strange but i can listen very sharp the bass and snare, he is incridble blackstyle drummer

  • Jesus christ...

  • jajaja es un marciano el chavon

  • Nice Video

    Thanxx for the commentt

  • that guy is on fire right there man ,, great great

  • one of the best drummers in the world! this nigga prolly like 16 in this clip! lmao! beast

  • to be honest george kollias and dave lombardo...are better than this guy...plus there's thousands of drummers out there that are good

  • Both of those guys are great players but your post makes no sense. You probably would say that Thomas Lang is better than Steve Gadd too right. Its nonsense comparing two drummers that play in completely different genres. If you would have made your comment on say, a Chris Adler video or some other Metal Drummer's video, your comment would make sense.

  • you have no idea what im saying, im saying theres lots of drummers out there that are good but just arent famous , but i dont think this guy is the best , hes good dont get me wrong but not the best neither am i, but take derek roddy, george kollias, dave lombard, daniel erlandsson , Trust me..

  • Of course Tony isn't the best. No one has any way of proving that. However I was saying that its retarded saying one drummer is better than the other if they play completely different styles because you don't have a musical common ground to go from. I'm sure that the guys you are talking about are far better at metal. If that's what you are trying to say then you are right. With jazz fusion or gospel, I would take tony any day of the week.

  • i agree! lol . Tony's good in anything but not in the metal catagory...

  • thats like comparing a roller hockey player to ice hockey mang. or sprinter to long distance...

  • you dont get it do you...Nevermind , i was just saying its kinda dumb when people say hes the best when there's thousands of drummers out there who are better but im not better , im just saying...Tony's good though !!! I like his drumming

  • @LukeHeavyshield in your opinion who is better than him, and why?

  • honestly, dave lombardo isnt even on the same lvl as george kollias, cause george is sicko, but george n tony r about on the same level

  • george kollias would be a good match up for ronald bruner jr. as far as double bass speed, look up "ronald bruner jr and stanley clarke bad asses. you'll see

  • Tony is the best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This kid is long on show, short on technique. Fast, but lacking musicality. You could fall over his oversized drum set and do a solo. If you want to see speed AND technique and musicality, search for any BUDDY RICH or JOE MORELLO video. And see a lesson in greatness... not just noise.

  • wow that was an ignorant comment

  • sick dat snare drum is da best snare i ever heard

  • f*ckin sick. speechless. i'm getting really nice stream of inspiration from him.

  • !!!!!!!GOSPEL!!!!!!!!

Thats were these drummers are starting... check out a black church my friends lol...

  • unfreakinbelieveable, he is ridiculous

  • i play drums and guitar i have playing drums 6 years and i never can do something like this!!!!!!!!!

    wow

  • 5:17 - 5:20 is so fast it's unreal, I've played drums for 14 years and I've never seen anything quite like it. This guy really is something else. The fastest single strokes ever recorded surely.

  • @row222 nope, mike mangini has the record for most single strokes in a minute.....something close to 1200 i think

  • damn thats 32nd at 150 bpm for a whole minute....i can barely do 120 bpm for a minute !FML

  • nope Justin Spencer is faster.

    Fastest in the world actually.

  • That splash fill at 3:06 is soooo funky!!! I love it!!!!! Gotta add that to my toolbox!!!! LOL!!!

  • Tony is one of the best drummers in the world. I put him in the top five as number one!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I agree...as young as he is, he is definitely in the ranks with Mike Portnoy, Dave Weckyl and many more who are twice his age!!!! I'm 41 and I have only been playing for a little over 10 years and I strive to be this good before i get to old to play!!!! LOL!!!!!

  • you started playing at 31? thats cool man.. most pople at that age think its too late to learn a new craft..

    i wish you the best

drums are the best instrument you could have picked!

now about the video.. nothing to say really lol tony royster is tony royster.. he is better than himself!

  • Thanx, Bro!!! Most ppl I have played for or with tell me that I sound way more experienced than just 10 yrs! I tell them that I play with the heart!!!! It's drums or nothing!!!(however I do play around with Keyboards and I'm trying to teach myself Bass guitar as well!!!) LOL!!!!

  • glad to hear it dude! id love to learn bass too.. that way i could get a new perspective of drumming.. i'lll see how life goes =)

  • I play drums and bass guitar as well. I love rhythm obviously then haha. It's good to hear that you're really into drums. I've met so many other drummers that just start playing because they want to look cool, which is just stupid. I've tried many other instruments, but the drums were the only instrument I really enjoyed playing. Good luck with your drumming dude.

  • Thanx, Dude!!!! I have a natural passion for them......I just need to hone my skills now and get my rudiments perfected......awesomeness comes after that!!!! LOL!!!! Play on, Bro!!!!!

  • No problem mate! Drums are the true instrument in my opinion :D

  • Dude's ever hear of this drummer?

    Just type and search:

Paul Wandtke Vic Firth full live drum solo Mandeville, Louisiana

This guy is badass!!!!! Tommy lee meets Thomas Lang or something????

  • are you that paul wandtke?

  • tony and virgil my fav drummers

  • Cudos to Mr. Royster!

  • i hate shitty bitrate audio .. .FUUUUUUCK

  • I love this video!!!!!!!

Tony is one of my favorite drummers

  • nice to see someone like him into musicianship not rap and hip hop.

  • Implied stereotyping?

  • don't be so narrow minded with you racial stereotypes, hip hop and rap are derived from these forms of music

  • i fuckin agree dude

  • sick

  • i just shat myself

  • ...........killed it

  • tony royster jr kicks ass totally

  • And who says Joey jordison is one of the best drummer in this planet...Anyone who's claiming that Joey is good than Tony then...You don't have the ear and the understanding of what a musician is all about...Man this guy is Not Human...!! and he's not a show off..!1

  • Shit hes not gunna stop lol amazing drummer

  • haha... i would say its more like "only try this at home material"... aint too many gigs that you would need to use these kinda chops, unless your playing with the likes of john pattitucci and chick corea! lol... but ya, people that try and dis on tony need to check themselves for a minute!

  • this is awesome

  • chops like a motherfucker.

  • QUE HIJO DE PUUUU!

  • if any one knows what heads he is using batter and res. or other heads that have a warm tone with a lot of resonance could you please message me

  • Tony is doing some things here that should be physically possibly. The blazing fill-ins with cross-overs are a blur. I don't think the video can truly do his playing complete justice, he's too fast. At 5:40 he does something I've never seen. He does a screaming run down the toms with only his right hand. You can see his left hand at the snare. I played it back 5 times just to be sure. Nobody touches that. Tony is the most naturally gifted drummer on the planet.

  • you're right buddie....Unbelieveable.....this guy is an alien....ok, i think i'll sell my drumkit...

  • he isnt screaming down the toms hes playing the snare with it, ha kinda makes it look and sound like one hand but its not. But he is gifted as fuck.

  • I understand what your saying, however there isn't a more technically difficult chop to execute. Virtually every fast fill-in by the best down the Toms is with both hands side by side working in unison. Regardless of what the left hand is doing on the snare, the right hand is blasting down the Toms. Never seen it done before at this pace. It's not human.

  • Naw man, its not anywhere as difficult as you make it out to be. I can play it fairly easily, myself. Its just 32nd note triplets at about 135-140bpm played as single strokes with the right hand altering between toms. Its a petty fast lick, but not as inhuman as you're making it out to be :) Thats what happens when you practice the higher tempos.

  • I don't think I'm making anything out to more difficult than it is. It's done at hyper speed which does make it amazing. I only listen to the best so I'm not easily impressed. You say you play this chop fairly easily. Tony is one of the top ten drummers in the world. Most of what he does behind his kit is obscene. I would think as a drummer you would stay away from these I can do this kind of stuff.. If you were play side by side with Tony he'd eat you up.This is don't try this at home material.

  • I know what you're saying man, and I basically agree. However, we'reyou're talking about that specific lick. It is NOT as hard as you're claiming. And its no where near "hyper speed." Like I said, 32nd triplets at 135-140. Thats not that fast. There's thousands of guys out there that can play it. There's guys playing 16th at 300 with their FEET.

Don't get me wrong though, its definitely an advanced lick. And he drops it perfect and clean in to the groove. Its impressive.

  • amazing drumming

  • you guys ROCK !!!!!

please check out our band on the channel :)

I ALSO HAVE A DRUM SOLO AT THE END OF THE MUSIC VIDEO ON OUR CHANNEL :)

    JASON

  • TRJ is the man. In my opinion he's so much more exciting to watch than a lot of "the great's." I feel he has so much presence and comes up with cool and "fun" beats.

  • Wow!!! U're great... I came 2 c u @ appachie last Nov. and couldn't get enough of u on utube... I'm from Chi and everytime I visit Atl I always ask "where is Tony Proforming @?" I was even excited 2 c u on stage with Jay-Z 4 the BET Awards....

  • I can't believe what I am hearing and seeing........

    This. Is. Talent.

  • man he has such a wicked set

  • ahh man tony tony tony im lost for words he's the MJ of drums

  • man, i hate watching this guy play. he's just way too good. makes me realize how much more i have to learn.

  • Comment removed

  • hahaha yeah i agree 100% I feel ashamed to call myself a drummer.. I can't keep up with this guy :( I don't deserve the title of drummer... haha I looked up Tony Royster looking for motivation... and sure got what I was looking for haha, better go back to rudiments!

  • its not something you can learn...this guy is a prodigy

  • wow my friend ,again a see you next week thank for...insperation on my playing Raymond Calderon songo master

  • Im so stocked on ur playing thank u for being such an insperation on my playing little Rudy

  • I CAN'T SEE HIM

  • This guy is amazing

  • Tony Royster vs Jacob Armen

  • Comment removed

  • Sorry but if you wouldnt call this music, id say you can't identify true music

  • that's the problem i can identify true music and this just a self indulgent technique display that doesn't even hint at being musical. this makes drumming a sport...not music...

  • If you look to drumming as a sport, not a type of music, that just shows how much passion you are lacking for it.

You may be the type of person that decided to start drumming because you wanted something to pass the time with, not because you simply have a love for the music that the drums create and that you want to be able to master it.

I don't like people who think like you.

  • Comment removed

  • I dont look to drumming as a sport, this guy to me gave drumming a sporty athletic feel ! i play the drums cause i love music not passing time ! This guy plays to 'show off' and be look how great I am not cause he enjoys embracing music. I dont like people who think like you, narrow minded. Skill is not music....

  • are you fucking kidding me? hes a musician, not an athlete, and since hes become such a good musician, hes gained recognition. the music thats being played in this video is designed to leave lots of space for impressive displays such as what you watched in the video. And who the fuck made you the god of music " I can identify true music.." fuck off if you're that high on your horse to even accept anything outside of your conception.

  • stfu

  • why would you tell me to shut the fuck up? im just letting the assholes know whats up.

oh yea, also, fuck you asshole, you contributed a a lot to this with your one, not even, word post. actually contribute or eat a dick and die.

  • HEY STOP BITCHING FILTHYMAN

  • im not the one bitching u dumb foreigner, im trying to get people to stop their closed minded bullshit. so please learn to read/write in english first before coming in here and fanning an old flame.

  • classy reply, this says it all...

  • you're the one who acts high and mighty, being able to determine whats music, whats not, and what constitutes as good playing. just admit you were wrong.

  • you may not particularly enjoy this music but just because u have no real preference for it does not mean you can deny that it is music....I hate people that say certain things arent music....Any arrangement rhythms and notes can be classified as music....it may not be music you enjoy but it is still music nontheless.....like say i cant stand bluegrass music....that doesnt mean when i see an outstanding banjo player i wont recognize that he or she is an amazing musician and is playing "music"...

  • not denying it is music more saying his emphasis is on look how great i am as opposed to lets just let the music do what it needs to... More than fair to see this guy probably practices on his own an awful lot and never plays for the music just himself... Fair dues, but makes him a drummers drummer, not a musician... You people need to look beyond being outstanded ! Any subtlety is void here...

  • but if you look at is like this, being the best at your craft is something to celebrate if it means expressing it through amazing playing like this then so be it. anything that has a beat is music but he has just taken it to another level gemmie thats the thing thats different, his passion for muisic is so great that hes sharing it with us by lashing out like that looool i think its amazing music if you ask me

  • ok fair dues, let me leave you with this... what do you do after you played the fastest, flashest, most skillfull display you ever done... drink gatorade and start again ?

  • ok well obviously you havent taken the time to learn about the man before you judge this one video.....he has played with MANY bands and is obviously good because he has a large fanbase and many big stars have used him....many times during performances certain musicians will have moments in which they are featured....you havent seen every band hes performed with so you cant say thats all he does....im a musician and when im performin and i get a feature i show out...thats the whole point

  • No, you keep playing and practicing until you come up with something even faster, flashy, and more skillful.

  • Im lookin at it this way. He's the melody of the band. He's the soloist. He's the person the audience is lookin at. For him NOT to play fast and use all of his skills would be like a soloist playing the same scale over and over again. If he wasnt the main attraction of the show, he wouldnt' play so much. When he plays with jay z and other artists on tour, he doesnt go crazy, but he plays within his boundaries. Since he is the center of the show, he does what he wants, and i love his music.

  • exactly i aggree

  • Would you have told Hendrix to stop bloody soloing and go back to playing the same groove over and over?

    Just a thought.

  • no jimi's musicality and gift was second to none, he was flash but never really showing off.. this guy is just showing or more displaying his skills.. jimi didnt just make music for musicians...
