@Shuqi78 Make sure to get Colloidal silver and not Ionic Silver at 20ppm. Ionic silver has a clear color, colliodal silver looks like tea; the one I use is Mesosilver. Keep in mind that if you ingest the Silver the acids in your stomach will weaken it just a little if its Colloidal, but alot if it's Ionic silver. Just as a heads up.

@djherich You mean it "CAN" kill you - as with anything over indulged, even water. Bleach is harmless when used sparingly, such as nasal spray. The problem is it's a metal and I generally don't like the idea of ingesting metals deliberately. The human body can make the trace amounts of metals it needs from minerals and other components.

I have an open mind, but I'd like to see scientific studies that show it's effective. Its easy to invent conspiracy theories. Showing double-blind standardized research evidence would do a lot to convince me. The placebo effect is very significant. A researcher's belief is very significant. That's why double-blind studies are well accepted. Neither the researcher or the participants know who is getting the real substance & who's getting the placebo. @Shuqi78 Make sure to get Colloidal silver and not Ionic Silver at 20ppm. Ionic silver has a clear color, colliodal silver looks like tea; the one I use is Mesosilver. Keep in mind that if you ingest the Silver the acids in your stomach will weaken it just a little if its Colloidal, but alot if it's Ionic silver. Just as a heads up.

It kills 99.99% germs on contact because they are very small. This is why you only need a fine mist to do the trick. Once you get a cold however the germs spread internally through your entire system and no amount of bleach will kill the entire population fast. You must spray BEFORE they populate.

I'm all about the natural solutions but I can't get behind the silver wagon.
The problem is it's a metal and I generally don't like the idea of ingesting metals deliberately. The human body can make the trace amounts of metals it needs from minerals and other components.
While silver is probably one of the most potent antimicrobial common elements out there I don't think the cost benefit analysis is there for human internal consumption. Staph MSRA and others can be killed w/ Plant extracts.

Last weekend I got hit with a good cold pluging up my sinuses something serious. I've been researching the homeopathic thing lately, so I asked the owner of a local health food store for somehing for a cold, he gave me Colloidal Silver, I also picked up some Oregano oil. The Colloidal silver must have worked, because I wasn't nearly as plugged up the next day or the others after, infact I felt like I didn't have a cold at all! As for the Oregano oil strong tasting stuff, but clears ya up.

@amorhombre I am a biomedical engineer and what this guy says is bullshit. Silver does NOT boost your immune system. In fact our bodies have no daily requirement for silver at all. The only reason silver is used in the medical field is as an antiseptic not an antibiotic.

Ah sorry but you are dead wrong about that. All colds are caused by viruses. This is why antibiotics are useless and ineffective against the common cold. Now it you get a secondary infection from the cold, say a strep throat, or pneumonia that is caused by a bacteria.

I have an open mind, but I'd like to see scientific studies that show it's effective. Its easy to invent conspiracy theories. Showing double-blind standardized research evidence would do a lot to convince me. The placebo effect is very significant. A researcher's belief is very significant. That's why double-blind studies are well accepted. Neither the researcher or the participants know who is getting the real substance & who's getting the placebo. I think there's too many kitchen chemists.

I know, sorry if i was unclear, i was being sarcastic. I was saying that just because something kills viruses doesn't make it a good medicine. the compound he's talking about probably kills viruses at concentrations too high for humans to metabolise - also the HIV virus lives it macrophages (white blood cells) even if this compound killed 99% of the viruses in the body over 8million viruses would remain and continue to multiply very quickly.

Something that kills viruses, bacteria and unicellular fungi while causing little or no harm is though. In fact I don't know of any substance that rivals in that sense. As for AIDS I have no idea if colloidal silver would help or not but I wouldn't be foolish enough to jump to any conclusion based on what limited theory I have and consensus on the matter.
