Even though they showed the start of FFVII, I don't know if its just my bad memory but Cloud didn't even once mention Zack to anyone in FFVII :(

@Papu1234 That is because in FFVII Clouds memory was suffering from the mako poisoning. He took on Zack's role and in the game the player felt like cloud did the things zack did because of the confusion brought on by the mako poisoning, that is until the the player found out about zack.

This is just straight masterpiece. Love how they put the story together leading to Cloud's story which leads to final fantasy 7. Seriously, if they remake final fantasy 7 now that we know the true history, we will now see things differently. Cloud's story will now have more meaning to it unlike it did when we first played final fantasy 7. It will be another masterpiece.

Because went he finally got to the sector 7 he was in bad shape. The Jenova was starting to fuck up with his mind to make him eventually comes back to her with the black material (long story). When he met Tifa again in sector 7, her memories of seeing him and Zack at Nibelheim 4 years earlier mixed up togheter and he forgot Zack, thinking that he was him. Tifa knew he was confused but never told him anything about it because she was scared of the reaction he would have.

@Ahbenmautadine the real story is.. in ff7 cloud was there too... sephiroth zack and cloud.. he has a promise once he go back to nibelheim he's a 1st class soldier.. but that never happen.. he was only a low rank soldier with a helmet..tifa knew cloud wasnt there.. but cloud was!he just put his helmet so the people wouldnt recognize him... i play ff7 and i read all the conversation of the game.. cloud was just pretending to be a first class soldier in ff7...

I get what you're saying :-) Thing is though, Sephiroth/Jenova clone's appeared all throughout FF7 as the real Sephiroth was asleep right up till the end.

Still, I'm guessing at this point, that maybe the Mako experiments Sephiroth underwent might have made him less prone to being cloned than the other two - even though eventually that happened anyway.

Cloud was still fucked up on mako beams, he really did think he'd done everything zack did. As cloud meeting Aeris, he really did meet her by falling through the roof. It was just coincidence that he met her the same way as zack.

If you watch Crisis Core, play through FF7 and then watch Advent Children, the whole story makes alot more sense. At least it did to me anyway...

To clear things up:Cloud only remembers himself in "Zacks shoes" through the first part of FF7. I would assume due to the mako poisoning and the trauma of having a sword stuffed through his stomach. Theres a hidden flashback in FF7 of Cloud and Zack in the cellar of the mansion. Cloud also runs through his memories with Tifa when hes thrown into the lifestream and reveals the truth. He goes through the dilemma of knowing he wasn't actually a soldier 1st class, but strives to carry on anyway.

@IJoeCI the reason Cloud was never 1st Class isn't random at all. He never finished the actual training for SOLDIER lol. Cloud was just a normal soldier up until Hojo infused him with Jenova.S cells. FF 7 explains pretty much everything except the bits with Angeal and Genesis. So I'm thinking maybe you just didn't pay attention when you played through FF 7 if you have played it at all. If after playing Crisis Core and FF 7 you still don't get it then you never will. No offense though just sayin

I never knew that it said he had S cells put in him in FF7 all I thought it told us that he was kept in those tubes with Zack. And I literally just played Crisis Core and completed it last week so it was all cleared up for the me.
