@dreupt people say that you should shoot with the ball on your finger tips and others say with your palm? Which one do you think is a more reliable form
@izzrose1997 jumping higher doesn;t make your shot better practice and good form does, to get longer range you need to push with more power from your legs but that's about it
@izzrose1997 Jumping higher to make the shot better may be misleading. Jumping into your shot, allowing your legs to power the release will improve your stamina, since your legs won't tire out like your arms. Additionally, if you are jumping higher and making your release point higher, you can get your shot off on taller players, as well as improve the arc and trajectory of the ball.
@izzrose1997 higher elevation allows your shot to more of a "drop-in" to the hoop, as you are more on an even plane with the cylinder. but ask ur coach to explain thats the coach's job
@Dylanhamilton14 You need to make sure that you adjust your shot so that it is repeatable and reliable. Bringing the ball so far back can change your balance in the air. Pulling the shot far back also can introduce a degree of randomness, since each time you bring it back, the position may change. Having a textbook form, with the ball closer towards your forehead/front of your body will improve the repeatability of your form.
@Dylanhamilton14 Dre would tell you to do what is comfortable for you. My advice is the same unless you're really young and have plenty of time to get used to an easier shooting form.
you will need to test it out yourself, such as can you shoot the ball in a straight line to the basket every single time, without it off left or right. If 50% of the time it's not even going in the straight line, then you'll probably need to adjust the form.
for me, I used to shoot like dre with the high release, but then i just came to realize that it doesn't go in as i would wanted it, especially in game, half of the time it was just way off.
now i changed my form to be shooting it a little in front and above my forehead, because if you can see the ball and the basket at the same time, then you can aim it, it's just like aiming a gun

@thefunnyeskimo yea but if u have the power to do so jumping higher does make your shot easier as the shooting distance is shortened.
