When you do the auto run up do you hold lock on or do you just press the left stick toward the shooter and press y ? Also when contesting a shot or swat blocking if you are already holding lock on do you have release and press lock on again or can you just press y and go into the contest animation?

Hold LockOn + YButton to lunge or auto run up. It's an animation that happens if you're at a certain distance away from the shooter. And no you dont already have to hold LockOnD before trying to Full Contest or Swat Block. However, you must press LockOnD simultaneously with the YButton to perform a Full Contest. Hold Right-Trigger (Sprint) + YButton for Swat Block.

Now to do the Disturb Shot, do I Hold the Lock on D and move the stick when he attempts to shoot.

but what if I am already holding the Left Trigger to play Lock on D and I am already pressing the stick towards him before he even tries to shoot, will my player automatically put a hand up?

It seems my players don't put a hand up fast enough.

If you're already holding the Disturb Shot button combination, it's not always going to perform it automatically. The majority of times it will though. To make sure you execute the Disturb Shot animation, make sure to move the Left-Thumbstick toward the player (while holding LockOnD) when the offensive player is about to shoot. Timing is important.

I notice that when you are defending 1 on 1 on fastbreak and you want a swap block, you always foul. Like doing a hard foul with a lot of contact.

How i avoid this?

If you move into a position where your player's entire body is in front of the offensive player's both/path, then you'll, mostly likely, create [body] contact and a foul animation will come up. Refer to 8:24. Prince's body is going toward the outside and away from Marion's body and not directly in front. This gives a great angle for a direct swat on the ball without fouling. Remember that Prince's 91 BLK rating was a bigtime factor during this successful block attempt.

Prince's block rating is in the high 80's to low 90's range. In that particular Living Rosters update, his block rating was at 91. It's usually around that number.

Just tapping the Y-Button without LockOnD gives a weak attempt at the shot contest. You dont jump as high or defend the shot well at all. Practice & notice the difference.

Being a great user defender means knowing how to play LockOnD. Until the ballhandler gets rid of the ball, LockOnD should be used at all times to be prepared for all situations while making continual adjustments with shading, pressure, etc.

Make sure you're engaged in LockOnD when using the Disturb or Full Contest methods. This keeps you at a good distance to where you dont foul but still contest the shot very well.

When using a Disturb or Full Contest, you shouldnt be getting fouls called on you. I've got the Shooting Foul Slider at 70 & dont get fouls called on me when using those two methods. That's one of the reasons why Disturbing & Full Contesting shots are so effective.....they decrease the chance of a made basket without fouling.
