On a good running motor with routine oil changes and such new cars can go a long time, mine had 200,000 on it. Take it off and give it a shake if it rattles you'll know it's not gummed up and sticking.
@dwatts5250 The guys at Kragen Auto Parts told me 50K-75K. The dealership mechanics started trying to get me to change mine at around 30k, but they probably also get commission for their repair sales.
Any idea where is PCV valve of 2008 Scion Xd locate??? I can not see anywhere??

how often does the pvc valve need to be changed?

I'd like to add I keep hearing change at 24,000ish miles on PVC and the shaking is not a positive indicator of valve health.
