@skepticalinquier they have...,you'd have to read up on it lol they do alot more,look at their capability lists.you also have to consider the plugin optionals as well as versatility.unless you're shooting an episode for house,or an nba/nfl game a camera of that caliber would be unnecessary,but a mic plugin (the 3 piece connect) makes a thousand dollar diff by itself then the multiple settings,recording to tape instead of just SD that's a few of the diff.
@TurkoF16 the stock lens is enough to get you started. it's worth looking at supplementing it with a couple of primes like the sony dt 50mm 1.8 and the dt 35mm 1.8. Maybe something like the 16mm e-mount for wide angle shots. You can get a lot of good glass secondhand if you do your research as well...
I've been looking for a better video for youtube vids and facebook, I had the choice of a handycam between $500-$2999 or a semi-pro $7999 (NZ) this is PERFECT for what I want - I'm getting ithj
60fps = drop in quality..............yes your video is going to look smooth.......but there are somethings which are more important than fps rate .........

2.Sensor size
3.Color depth
4.Contrast
5.Manual Controls
6.Most important in this case an ability to use lenses.
okay well i was going to get a sony handycam one of the HD one then i saw this and im not sure wether or not to get it im 14 and i want a new camera for my videos, which are pretty complexe in terms of not just pick up and camera and fool around and adlib. i also like the sony vegas included but im not sure wether or not to ge this or one of the older sony handycams......any suggestions
Why does Sony call this a consumer camera? Consumer cameras are point and shoot with next to nothing in manual settings. This has interchangable lenses, all manual controls, you practcally have to be a photographer to use it. IT IS NOT A CONSUMER CAMERA SONY!!
Why I should spend 2K$ for a camera that does not record at 24p?? This is only a Nex5 with a better codec and a better microphone!! Sorry Sony but this time I pass!!
And for those of who can't get the PAL version? This is bs that Sony does not offer 24p. I can accept the other things they did not include with this camera given the price but no 24p equals no sale. It's ridiculous that they did not include it IMO. I'm guessing they want to protect the sales of their professional gear- but by not including 24p they've cripple this too much. $2,000 for 60i in this day and age? I don't think so.
People have been complaining today that this camera doesn't have 60P, but based on the vid samples in this & the other demos, I'd say it looks pretty darn good. And with 14.2 MP still images to boot, it seems like a very good package.

This looks better than NGEO films on HDTV channel. I suppose some people will always pee and moan. However top grade pro cams 12,000-20,000 and up ..

Has it lanc connection or AV/R? Is it canon lenses full compatible? Does it have 24p or 25p? Does it have zoom button?
If not I think it is too expensive for do the same as canon 7d.

I dont believe that these are really vg10 clips. I honestly think they used their flagship pro cameras like the ex3 or something like that.

@mattiamerli The PAL version of this camera can have its 1080i50 video converted to 1080p25 quite easily.

So this camera have a CMOS sensor right? Does it use the "rolling shutter" would it make distort the image if you move the camera really fast?
