also the title is misleading. Its not a 97max. from the back, its a 5th gen max (00 - 03) not sure if its the 00 - 01, or 02 - 03 but theres a huge difference performance wise

The 02-03 maxima were rated at 255hp/246tq, it is common knowledge that they overrated the horsepower due to marketing reasons. The altima/maxima have the IDENTICAL engine/tranny/ecu so why was the altima down 10hp. The 02-03 maxima is more like 245Hp./265TQ

The altima SER had 260HP, i think the only engine difference is a better tuned ECU and slightly better flowing exhaust.

I think you're thinking I have a 3.5, mine's a 3.0 rated at 190 stock, so SER driver stock vs me @ ~220 crank w/limited mods + 3 passengers - some weight red, I think he had the advantage, lol.

what the hell? The cats on maximas are very restrictive, mostly the pre-cats. Headers on the VQ35 maximas give incredible gains. we are talking like 30WHP+ but you should get it re-tuned after to get the most. Headers on a VQ30 maxima also give good gains, the 20WHP+ territory. fed spec maximas have 1 pre cat in the y-pipe and 1 main cat, cali spec and all 2000+ have 1 for each bank of cylinders + a main cat.

I shortshifted first but then went up to ~6k, if you watch my other videos I usually shifted at 6.5k but you can hear how the car really stops pulling up there. No MEVI=no top end. If you're really a 4th gen guy you should know this.

umm...? right new sentra's are fast i beat a spec v today or it was baged had a super charger i have a 95 maxima with jim wolf ecu stage 2 blitz intake unorthadox pulley's and a greedy cat. i was at rock falls raceway my fastest time was 14.8 and everytime i missed 3rd gear its off... blah

Get a 07 Altima 3.5SE, no torque steer. they lowered the engine by .5 inches for a lower centre of gravity.

3.5SE had 240hp and available 5-speed manual. the SE-R had 260hp, or nissan claims so, and came only in 6-speed.

I have a 3.5 buddy and its a 6 spd Maxima 5.5gen (02-03) not a five speed....... the engine is rated for 255hp not 240hp, The SE-R trim on the Altima was a 275hp not 260hp the regular altima 3.5 se had 260hp idk where u got that info on the 5.5 from but damn get that from somewhere else lol

SE-R Altimas did not have 275HP the other guy is right it had 260HP I have a 08 Altima 3.5 it has 270HP thats the most HP Nissan ever offered in a Altima.

se-r has 10 extra hp, a little more torque, some interior styling things (gauges on the center of the dash 350Z-style), smoked headlights and tailights, and special bodywork all around. and factory tinted windows and a tighter suspension with high-flow exhaust

they're cool but i still think the SE-R is kind of a waste of money. Nissan didn't even touched the engine, those extra 10hp is because of the larger exhausts and the rest of the upgrades are fashion cues.
