@Areskouget it might not be sherlock, but hell, it was a good movie. one thing i've learned when watching movie adaptions of things is that you have to cut the movie loose from the original material. then it's much more adorable.

@Areskouget Have you ever even read Sherlock Holmes? Other than the action scenes, Downey plays Sherlock Holmes perfectly. The real Sherlock Holmes was a strung-out, eccentric drug addict who found his way out of the boredom of everyday life by solving mysteries. I would have more to complain about Dr. Watson because in the books he's usually enamored by Holmes and greatly looks up to him; they don't have the "bromance" that the movie suggests. But still, for what it is, it's a great movie!

Jude law is better suited for his role than Downey is. anyway a bbc adaptation is going to air soon.

You might not be high on the idea of Holmes and Watson being fighters, but the movie is not an "action movie" as some people peg it. I've read some Holmes and I see him as very sarcastic, endearingly cocky, and overall just plain eccentric. Downey plays a good Holmes, but if you're looking for a spot-on adaption I would probably go the BBC route. But for what it is, the movie is suspenseful and mysterious.

But with this movie, it would not be a good book adaption either. Each has their strengths are weaknesses. @stupidintellect90 In one of the original Sherlock stories entitled "A Study in Scarlet" it's written that he's a fairly good boxer. In fact I found the movie to be fairly accurate and the dialogue from the movie is sometimes straight out of the stories. I think it's awesome! you should totally see it and read the stories too =D I'm a huge fan obviously lol

Another classic upgraded for the 21st century.
It looks interesting but I'll wait for it to come out on DVD.....and then I'll wait for it to get out of the pricey 'new' section.
