Tobey was a brilliant Peter Parker, but a poor Spider-Man. I know Spidey's supposed to be an unikely hero, but you've gotta have the balance and Tobey didn't. Plus the first one was the only good one. Spider-Man 2 was boring and Spider-Man 3 had the most potential with Venom and it was shite. Good luck to the new franchise!

I don't think Toby can film anymore spiderman movies, If I remember correctly, he injured his back while filming sea biscuit or Spiderman 2 and it was really tough on him to film the third due to all the acrobatics he had to do, so he said(i think) that he wasn't gonna film no more spidey's movies. Sad...
It would be awesome if the script was a little of the last episodes of the anime Spiderman, like how Carnage was born and how he wants to destory EVERYTHING that exists, it should have Madam Web and King Pin and all that cool stuff. :)

Spiderman is too light a character to be directed by some horror movie dude he butchered it. Tobey-Mcguire was a horrible Spider man , He was only a good Peter parker until he opened his moth. Dunst completely butchered the sassy confident mary-jane of the comics with some depressed trailer trash shit. TOPHER GRACE AS VENOM WAS THE LAST STRAW!! I think the first three movies had made the spider-man I knew from the cartoons really suck... He's not funny and even if Tobey is a good actor I really think it was a baaaad choice to make him spiderman. Really, he's probably good in drama, but I don't find him funny at all... And peter/spider-man, is supposed to have an energetic personality with funny comments all the time, which they didn't even put in the script. Also, Tobey's voice puts me to sleep... I think Andrew will be much better.

It would be like replacing Daniel with someone else to play Harry for the Deathly Hollows. The story just feels different without the original actors, because those actors have been with you since the beginning. But honestly the Amazing Spider-Man doesn't really seem like a sequal to the other Spiderman movies that Sam directed. So it really doesn't feel like Toby is being replaced. It's kind of like the Punisher and the Punisher War Zone. They're just not the same film.

Spidey is a hopeful youngster and is not meant for the cynicism of adulthood. Besides, Tobey didn't even want to lift a weight after 'Spider-Man 2' to get in shape again. I can't believe how much went wrong in 'Spider-Man 3': the lowest rated Spider-Man film of all.

Rumors that Sony wants Spiderman to be some prequel. Before the spider bite Peter Parker, maybe he has an adventure. Raimi does not want to do this.

Meaning that Director Raimi no longer wants to work w/ Sony & Tobey wanting to play as Spider-Man.

I'm looking forward to watching "The Amazing Spider-Man" than "Spider-Man 4" because plans for Spidey 4 sucked dick!!! Villains for Spider-Man 4 was going to have Vulture & Felicia Hardy as Vulturess... so no thanks. Raimi's script sucked dick SO BAD, which is why it was canceled.
If Sam had a better plan for Spidey 4, like Carnage as a villain or Kraven hunting the Lizard with Spidey caught in the middle trying to protect Lizard, as the Lizard tries to kill Kraven, then I'd be fine with it.

I think the first three movies had made the spider-man I knew from the cartoons really suck... He's not funny and even if Tobey is a good actor I really think it was a baaaad choice to make him spiderman. Really, he's probably good in drama, but I don't find him funny at all... And peter/spider-man, is supposed to have an energetic personality with funny comments all the time, which they didn't even put in the script. Also, Tobey's voice puts me to sleep... I think Andrew will be much better.

It would be like replacing Daniel with someone else to play Harry for the Deathly Hollows. The story just feels different without the original actors, because those actors have been with you since the beginning. But honestly the Amazing Spider-Man doesn't really seem like a sequal to the other Spiderman movies that Sam directed. So it really doesn't feel like Toby is being replaced. It's kind of like the Punisher and the Punisher War Zone. They're just not the same film.

@RuptureFarms In Jan. 2010 Sony rejected Sam's plot for Spider-Man 4 w/ reports that Raimi wanted to cast John Malkovich as the vulture. Production stalled do to disagreements over the script, Sony & MTV reported that Tobey & Sam decided to leave the film as both were unhappy w/ the issues. Meaning that Director Raimi no longer wants to work w/ Sony & Tobey wanting to play as Spider-Man.
Marvel is currently filming the untitled Spider-Man reboot staring Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man.

@manna1974 I finally got a pic of High School Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) LIVE in full spiderman costume besides his mask, but finally with the trademark webshooters on his wrists. It looks pretty good; different from the original.
