In my opinion, the fact that Jack even died was almost completely unrealistic. They just so happened to come across a handy-dandy 30 foot board that could hold 50 people, and then they only fit Rose on? I think not.
Leonardo Decaprio was a tiny guy when filming this movie. You could've fit atleast 10 of him on that board yet they didnt even try to fit 1.
I don't agree with the ending and plus, Rose weights what...10 pounds in this?

Titanic is like all Twilight movies rolled ino one. The only thing keeping Twilight from crushing pop culture as we know it is that Edward, the sissy vampire, doesn't somehow sacrifice or die at the end for her chick. That's it. If he had done, then we'd be doomed.
@unabomberman Yeah, doesn't change the fact that many people would rather watch Titanic than any of the Twilight films. Otherwise, Twilight would be the #1 grossing movie of all time above Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.
That's besides the point; both that film and the franchise have an uncanny capacity to drive tweens into a berserker frenzy. In the case of Twilight it's more drawn out because of all the sequels and shit, but at the time Titanic came out it was fucking mayhem.
@unabomberman Titanic attracted a much broader audience and was much better recieved than Twilight. Just b/c both films have a tween fanbase doesn't mean they're in the same category. I doubt the Twilight films would be nominated for best picture in major awards ceremonies, be rated higher than Titanic by film experts, and make it to the AFI's 100 greatest films of all time. Hence, "many people would rather watch Titanic than any of the Twilight films". It's just a better film.
I'm not debating you on whether or not Titanic is a better film than Twilight or not -- that's self evident. On the other hand, Titanic's ending is what garnered it such a special place beyond most box office hits.
Had Jack survived it would just have been a mere wish fullfillment fantasy. But he didn't, so everyone went batshit insane and from there Leo Mania was spawned. That's what I meant by Titanic being the whole of Twilight rolled into one.

@TheDM75 You make no point. Do YOU know him? Can you prove that my view of him is wrong? Titanic was a work of passion but not in the way everyone thinks it is. James Cameron loves the ocean and ship wreaks. He obviously loved to be able to remake the Titanic as it looked and felt during it's fateful voyage. However a movie about just the ship and its events would be marginally successful at best. Because of this, Cameron created an emotionally engineered love story to pull in the masses.

The man is a genius, if anyone has figured out the human emotion equation it's him. To tell the truth, anyone with that ability would use it to make money. He's not a monster, simply a businessman.

Titanic was a good movie, but definitely not the best ever. It cannot compete with movies like, Gone With The Wind. I would put it in the top ten.
BUT, If I had to listen to the girls voice in this clip, I wouldn't even place it that high.

That's besides the point; both that film and the franchise have an uncanny capacity to drive tweens into a berserker frenzy. In the case of Twilight it's more drawn out because of all the sequels and shit, but at the time Titanic came out it was fucking mayhem.

@unabomberman Titanic attracted a much broader audience and was much better recieved than Twilight. Just b/c both films have a tween fanbase doesn't mean they're in the same category. I doubt the Twilight films would be nominated for best picture in major awards ceremonies, be rated higher than Titanic by film experts, and make it to the AFI's 100 greatest films of all time. Hence, "many people would rather watch Titanic than any of the Twilight films". It's just a better film.

I'm not debating you on whether or not Titanic is a better film than Twilight or not -- that's self evident. On the other hand, Titanic's ending is what garnered it such a special place beyond most box office hits.
Had Jack survived it would just have been a mere wish fullfillment fantasy. But he didn't, so everyone went batshit insane and from there Leo Mania was spawned. That's what I meant by Titanic being the whole of Twilight rolled into one.

Have you people noticed Titanic was a real event! i really don't like people saying negative things about Titanic, over 1,523 people died when the Titanic died, it's been 97 years since Titanic sank, and it'll be her 100th anniversary in 2012 i really don't want people to forget her she's not going to last much longer down there only the prilliars (sp) will still be there, but not the whole ship she'll be gone..Titanic means a lot to me..
