I don't know when exactly this song was recorded but I expect it happened in the 50's or early 60's. Given that I can understand why those lyrics were selected. We have come a long way from that kind of thinking. However you can tell why this evokes fond memories, " Chrismas in San Francisco is the closest thing to heaven. How I wish that you were here!' I just moved to San Francisco and while I love the city and secretly LOVE Christmas music (KOIT <3), I hate this song! The lyrics are so uninspired. It sounds like it was written by aliens just to mock us. I'm glad others here can relate.

im from san francisco, in the ARMY and currently deployed in afghanistan. im listening to KOIT live online right now and this song came on and made me really miss home and family. i love this song and KOIT and bein able to listen to KOIT makes it feel kinda like home over here. its just not christmas without KOIT!!!

Man, I'm not gonna be back in time for 24 hours of Christmas on KOIT this year. By the way, remember it was 99.7 KFRC that started it? They played even more of a variety of secular Christmas songs too. KOIT gets kinda outta hand with "Feliz Navidad". Have fun with the tree lightings, the Hyatt Embarcadero was AWESOME last year!

I heard this song in South Carolina one chistmas and recently visited San Francisco. I loved the moment and joy this song brought to me. There certainly is no one like Vic Damone who can sing it, except for maybe Russ Lorrenson. He is absolutely Fantastic.
