to be quite honest u greenies are the ones who are killing this industry... u are the one who are putting hard working blue collared blokes out of jobs u are the guys who are goin to kill this state in the long run...... no timber industry no money...... we need a pulp mill and we need it now!!!!!
"We're extremely pleased to have someone with a track record of such deep commitment to the environment, helping us to continue to be leaders in conserving the environment we rely on"
John Gay, Executive Chairman, Gunns Ltd
Statement upon appointment of Burke to work for Gunns directly, 9 October 2008
I have to say I neither trust the Greens or Gunns. From what little I know of this issue, it does sound like the pulp mill issue is a beat up and I wouldn't be surprised if the Greens are working on behalf of the Visy corporation to help eliminate a competitor.
Having said all that, I think the issue is a red herring - we don't NEED to cut down trees to make paper! We can make paper from hemp, as well as a myriad of other products.
As far as I can tell Builda the basic thrust of your arguments thus far, in this forum and others, is this - anyone who is against the mill, for whatever reason, whatever their qualifications or arguments - be they the Australian Medical Association, an organisation of farmers, fishermen or businesspeople, even church ministers or simple minded treehuggers for that matter - is a whinging, dole bludging anti-everything drug-taking homosexual greenie.
You spelt "know" wrong you twat - did you even watch this video you dumb fuck? he supports the bloody mill. You really are unbelievably stupid Builda. U should think before you type. The Australian Environment Foundation is a faux green or "greenwash" organisation, founded by the Institute of Public Affairs, which is funded by scum like Gunns and APPM.
So Donny here has actually sold his arse to a corporation, a bit like yourself, & is singing the praises of the mill.
So how much do you pay this Burke? Maybe we should hire him to do an anti mill vid sometime. Or then again maybe an animated dog turd would be more convincing for less cash? Far out this stuff is dynamite!!!
Don Burke comes at the huge price of zilch, nothing & Zero. He has always had a view that environmental decisions need to account for human values as well as ecological ones.
Any problems with people volunteering their time to promote something because they believe it`s true
Gday Bushvision, been a while! I understand Don Burke formalised his relationship with Gunns Ltd in October 2008, by going to work for them directly - is that correct? Any idea how much he is earning in his role as "environmental advisor" on the pulp mill?
Hi cheesy, I`m not sure if Don gets anything or if he does - how it compares with Tony Jones (ABC) $5000 for his enviro stints or Al Gore ($200,000 an appearance) but with your researching abilities you might know what it is. Time will tell us if Don`s role will be helpful, but at least he has a go at getting a win / win.
What exactly are you saying Tony Jones is doing? Please try to be clearer, you're essentially slandering him without telling me what for!! lol
As far as Al Gore goes, I don't really take much interest in him. But any ex-member of any US administration excepting huge wads of ca$h from any individual or corporation who offers it - either before, during or after their period in office - well, frankly, I'm shocked! HORRIFED! TELL ME IT AINT SO!
what is it you're saying multiple Walkley Award winning journo Tony Jones is doing, mate? Taking money for promoting environmental causes or something? If you've got something to say about him, why be so vague? What is this $5000 "enviro stint" you're talking about?
Try googling "on the money trail with Tony Jones" and an article comes up explaining how he does various appearances for $5,000 - $10,000 - one being the Carbon Expo
Really Bushvision, I have to take exception to yr slandering Tony Jones. He's a highly respected journo and you really do yourself a disservice with cheap shots like that. He works for a freakin public speaking company, they just rent him out. And in any case, anyone who would care to look at carbonexpodotcomdotau would see just how mainstream that conference was - big banks, big corporations. Hardly ConFest is it, mate? You slander TJ & don't back it up because there is nothing there, correct?
Just so I've got this straight - you're saying that Don Burke - who onced chaired yr Australian "Environment" Foundation, of which you are also a board member - goes to work for a corporation (Gunns) that indirectly funds the Australian Environment Foundation through the Institute of Public Affairs..... er.... and you don't know if he's getting any renumeration for his efforts to promote Gunns' $2 Billion dollar investment?
G'Day Knobcheese, What ya been up to. Getting the troops ready for the big blockade on the mill site. he he he he ha ha ha ha. Love to see to you there next year!!!
Oh if you can try and bring some more Green drone's with you, we need to make sure you all the the Mill under construction.
AEF is a membership driven environmental group therefore a diversity of views exists in the group. Members are not afraid to questions just about everything at some level so as many factors as possible are considered.
Hi Bushvision. I notice you do not deny Bushvision's association with AEF. I have spent the evening researching your organization. Would it be fair to say AEF is echoing the environmental views of the Institute of Public Affairs? Is it also true that the Institute of Public Affairs is funded, in part, by corporations like um, lets see - Gunns Ltd? Monsanto? BHP? Western Mining? Environmentalists through and through!! Would love to hear your views on this. Kind regards...
goodness gracious me.... "BushVision" is, in fact, run by one of the directors of, you guessed it, the Australian Environment Foundation! Slippery! Slimey!
What`s the problem with people being involved in voluntary community activities - For the record yours truly gets involved in environmental issues, farming, landcare research, being a centenary award winner for services to conservation & the environment, as well as president of Bushvision, (a community tv channel). What`s the problem with that? It`s all over various videos on Bushvision. check them out
In July 2005, Burke became the Chair of the Australian Environment Foundation, a group established in opposition to the broader environmental movement, with links to the Institute for Public Affairs, a conservative thinktank.
Hi Cheeseepees, Yes Don Burke has always been a balanced environmental thinker realising humans are a part of the environment and that the aspirations of people for better health, standard of living etc are also part of the equation needing to be weighed up. Being an environmentalist doesn`t mean you have to have extreme left politics. In fact the environmental movement (if it were truly about the whole picture) should welcome people of all political leanings should it not?
erm, don't take this the wrong way Bushvision, or Don B., but, when a multi million dollar corporation parachutes a TV star in to defend their multi-billion dollar project and tell the masses that everything will be ok.... well, the goodly portion of the population that ABSOLUTELY DESPISE that company, they're gonna be a little bit sceptical, don't you think? and i never said Don was a balanced environmental thinker, you seem to imply that i did, which is a sneaky rhetorical trick :)

Lying, lowlife, scummy parasite.
Don gets a phone call one day.
"Hey Don, let's support the pulp mill".
"What's in in for me?"
"Money, Don."
"Aren't there a lot of people nearby who don't want a chemical plant in their neighbourhood?"
"Don, it's not near your place and you'll make a few thou, get on telly, and get to run your own front group."
"To be honest, I don't have any morals and these suckers that live on the Tamar can pay me more to be quiet or they can fuck off, I'm Don Burke."
