The problem with ending the Fed would leave you in a position where the congress contols money supply which can be fatal. Just do some research on the history monetary police of Argentina.
Inflation is simply another form of taxation. Money is created by borrowing.....and there is not enough in circulation to pay just the interest on the debt. Figure that scheme out.
Friedman, Thornton, and all the others are spot on, the Fed is the source of inflation. However, the Fed is also the source of all congressional pandering, vote buying and war funding etc. Deeply entrenched interests benefit from the Fed's theft and will fight hard to retain it and expand its powers. After our latest govt created recession, Congress expanded its own and the Fed's powers. It won't change till people educate themselves or our entire system collapses.
The central bank is an institution of the most deadly hostility existing against the Principles and form of our Constitution. If the American People allow private banks to control the issuance of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the People of all their Property until their Children will wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered. - Thomas Jefferson
I remember when I was a kid in USSR, when USSR broke up we got new money and then anyone who had any kind of "cash" savings (in quotes since its cash printed by USSR") was instantly gone
@StopFear I too was a kid in the USSR at that time, I remember standing 3 hours in line with my grandma to get some meat from the store. Also how the stores took down their prices because nobody knew how mucht he money was worth

It is indeed funny that whichever commodity govt attempts to control prices of, becomes immediately expensive.

The only way at this late date to dump the fed, politically is a depression at least as deep as the 1930s.
