  • Sir.. this is a gr8 way to make ... never tot one can make such lovely vadams with cooked rice!!awesome.. How have u been ..its been long time... take care

  • im quite well, thanks for enquiring ... and as i mentioned in the video, this was an accidental discovery for me too.. ! :-) cheers !

  • One more doubt on this. When it's sun dried, how long can you keep it until you fry it? Can you keep it couple months like that? What's best way to store it?

  • i have kept it for more than three months on occasions and have had no problems whatsoever.. however, these have to be kept in very clean airtight containers, else could attract tiny creatures ! and it would be better to sun dry it again once in a while ( say once a month ? ) to ensure that no moisture gets back into it .. cheers ! :-)

  • Does it matter the type of rice used? Any kinds not to use? What kinds are best used?

  • i haven't tried, but i think it should not matter ...one type i would avoid is the boiled rice generally used for idlis and dosas .. :-)

  • Hi

My Mom used to make these when I was small... we used to have lot of leftover rice... on which she sprinkles somes salt and dries it in sun... and when it is dried the rice looks just as uncooked one... but when fried in oil or microwaved we get something like chudwa.. great snack to eat or eat with rice and dal.. YUM!

  • yes. it is a great tasting snack.. and goes well with almost any food or even just as a snack.. but nobody told me about this recipe.. in my home we used to make it with a type of flaked rice called 'aral ' ...thanks for your comment :-)

  • Good recipe..Every1 always has leftover rice..gr8 means of usin it..Thanks!

  • thanks for your comments .. and yes, this could be converting leftover rice to some useful recipe,..of course you would have to be assured of bright sunlight and that the birds, ants and the pets dont get them before you do ! cheers !:-)

  • I know sago vadiyams but i never knew these can be made even with plain rice.

    Great recipe!!!

  • as i mentioned in the video, it was quite by chance that i discovered this recipe.. ( though i'm sure somebody else has already discovered it before me ! ) ...thanks for your encouraging comment ! cheers ! :-)

  • Great recipe again

  • thanks ! do try it out .. am wondering if canada has hot enough temperatures for drying these out :-)

  • In our summer months, which is fast approaching. we will have temperatures more than adequate to fully dry out the rice. I can't wait to try this one. I will let you know how they turn out.

Hope to see you cooking again soon, keep up the great work
