Hey guys my band Closer Than Expected is fairly new and we are trying to get some exposure. It would be awesome if you could help us out by checking out our facebook page
If I had more motivation to practice and write more frequently, then Id say yes. But its hard to keep up with playing sometimes, especially as a student
Ive been playing guitar for about 2 1/2 years and i think i have what it takes to be in a band. i practice at 4 in the morning before school then right after till i go to sleep. i might not have been playing long but i smoke 17 year olds that have been playing for 8 years
I'm in a band who have just played our 3rd show, and I can definitely say that this is what I wanna do for the rest of my life. I love performing and writing, and I think having people love my music is just the absolute greatest feeling in the world.
I've been in a band for three years and I can honestly say it sucks most of the time. The only people who come to our gigs are our close friends and family. I've had tons of different people in my band but no one is ever that serious about it. So basically it's impossible to get people to come out and hear you play, and it's impossible to find musicians who are dedicated and also have the same influences as you. I work hard and have become a good songwriter, but so much seems to rely on luck...
I would love to be a pro musician, but i'm not sure if i would be able to. i love playing guitar and singing for people, but i don't know if i could take being away from home that long. i really want to start a band, and one of my friends and i are trying to, in fact. wish us luck!
ps i listened to each of these bands and they're AH-MAZING!
No I know I couldn't be a professional musician - I know some and they could take a break now if they wanted to yet they still work really hard - you got to love it to do all that traveling. Yes I am also interested in that LuLu review but I'm also already disappointed with that brief sample of it, little faith in the rest at present.
I think that I very much have the chops at least to play as a professional musician. To a certain extent I have. Unfortunately, and I'm going to say this in the least hipster way, I like and play experimental/ avant-garde music. Add the fact that I live in the tiny country of Israel, and being a professional musician full time seems a bit more problematic.
Caveman reminds me of the Fleet Foxes, a lot. All of the other bands are indie rock hybrids, some good, some okay. I did enjoy Caveman, and the Stone Foxes a lot.
It would be a dream come true for me to start a band. Unfortunatly, in my town, a very small bunch listen to the music that I listen to (Metal, Hard Rock) and I barely know those who do. I'm also not a very good guitar player but I play every day to become better at it. I think I have what it takes. If not, then I would struggle to achieve it.
I think I would love to be a professional musician, but I would have to see what it is like first. I'm from a pretty small town so I have absolutely NO connections to fellow musicians. I would like to travel somewhere with at least a decent music scene where I may have a shot. I have been practicing guitar practically daily for four years now, I'm no Steve Vai but for the little time I've practiced I think I'm alright. Please check out my channel, I have done a few covers, need to do more soon!
@RockItOutBlog Hey I have a band but I'm the only one in it right now, I was wondering if you could tell me what you think about some of my (NOTE: UNFINISHED OR PERFECTED) songs. I have a total of four with three singles and one Music Video. Please tell me what you think.
Well, being married for the last 15 years and 4 kids up to this point, I have simply become too tired and old (mentally and physically) to consider a professional career as a musician. I do teach guitar at home; teaching is awesome fun. However, that would not preclude me from playing a local venue, which I would LOVE to do. Unfortunately, there is no place locally that allows for the type of music I play (heavy metal, ftw). All dance bars, country, or radio music (not bad, just not me).
i think that it would be cool to do a pro/con segment with unknown bands. i know people want to see their favorite bands but we all have our opinions on these bands and it would be a great way to promote upcoming bands hell, do 2 pro/cons a week
ive been in 2 bands 1 of which had a few local shows but never really got off the ground, we broke up cause our drummer moved and lack of musical chemistry. and the band im in now lacks that chemistry as well. advice, while its fun to be in a band with your best friends u have to have a certain sound in mind. and and u have to be able to get along well
I live in NYC and to be honest, There are barely any record labels around, famous people and rock n' roll shit. I love heavy metal and I wouldnt be lying . Maybe this was a one time thing cause to be honest I wouldnt feel the urge to move to california if there were record labels in nyc ;p \m/
I think i do have what it takes in being in a band. I play a bit of the keyboards which im actually am aiming to move to playing a Melodica. Even though i don't have a great voice to be a singer but i sure wouldn't hurt to try , It's the music what counts.
i play guitar, acoustic guitar and sing & scream. I would love to be in a band. I just need a great amp, a good guitar, and a band then i ready for the road
well i am in a band in greece...problem is that rock and all the other genres that come out of rock is not promoted in this god forsaken land...so i would have to come to america if i was to follow my dream but i would have to start over again and find some money to make it happen...
id hope i have what it takes. ive written some songs but i live in a small town with not many musicians my age, im only 16. the only people i know that even play music ive already been in somewhat of a cover band with and it just never worked out.
Wow. It's like a little community of extremely unknown bands, yet they all know who each other are. It sucks that there's basically no music scene in the suburban town where I live. I really wanna move to NYC someday.
Hope you enjoyed CMJ wish we had something like that in the UK. Lou Reed sounds so weird in that new material not sure if I like it. Looking forward to the review bud.
RQ: I would LOVE to be in a band one day, I have the musical ability (I play drums, and have for almost 10 years). I just need to get people together and have commitment
