let us assume that is correct. even if there is some massive reserve of oil. 0.039% is the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere. we can only survive less than 1% CO2 concentration in the air we breath. burning that much oil would bump the average CO2 concentration of our atmosphere to 5%. so lets put it this way: you burn the oil and everyone dies.

Decentralization works. Food shouldn't come from 1500 miles, it should come from 1500 feet. The same goes for energy, we need to look at proven methods of site-generated power; using bio-mass to treat wastewater, then converting that to fuel... just one simple answer to a complex issue, there are so many more if we are willing to open our eyes.

Oil is back down to $34 a barell, and falling fast. Anyone that buys the peak oil myth needs to go back to econ 101, or didn't live through the 1970's. Facts are, oil is abundent and the supplies are growing, that is why oil prices are falling like a rock. When we run out of oil, we then have almost unlimited supplies of coal and other carbon based supplies of energy. Don't buy the hype, oil is going down in price and will stay there. The bank lend it and another person buys things or makes business from that money...
In that way it even makes things worse.

I read the IEA energy annual energy report last week. World Oil is depleting at 9% a year, and demand is increasing at 1.5% per year.
The dilemma is not know by most people but it is real.

let us assume that is correct. even if there is some massive reserve of oil. 0.039% is the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere. we can only survive less than 1% CO2 concentration in the air we breath. burning that much oil would bump the average CO2 concentration of our atmosphere to 5%. so lets put it this way: you burn the oil and everyone dies.

US oil and natural gas reserves protected from development are minimal. Drill them or not, it just doesn't matter.
And it's not about the volume of reserves, it is about the rate of production. In the US, the rate of production peaked in 1970 and has trended downwards since. Think of all the technological advances since 1970 (directional drilling, SAGD, etc.). They haven't been able to raise production.

Check out Lindsey Williams... Peak Oil is a Lie to control the masses and depopulate the planet. The creation of oil is a natural geologic process, and deep oil wells are being pulled beyond 18000'. Water is the ultimate fuel, as will be the extraction from zero-point, but this is not common knowledge yet.

It has been clear for some time. The first decade of the 21st century would mark the end of the oil era.
We are at, or have just passed, peak.
All some of us can do at this point is form self-protective networks and work to create refugia that _may_ persist past the crisis and breakdown.
The main problem is this: The people who are paying attention _and_ doing something about it now are scattered widely (i.e. NOT JHK). Thinly scattered. Dilution in this instance is not a solution.

You look 14, try doing a little more research into the Oilsands... At current production rates it will take a minimum of 50-100 years to get all the oil out of Alberta, Canada. I work there, I'd know sister.
However, I do agree alot with your points on driving, food, and way of life. The key is for people to start thinking greener and greener and I do know in Canada, things aren't changing fast enough. All in all, very nice presentation :)
