Dear Theorist: There is ANOTHER timeline. The split is in SS, and it's where Ghirahim kills Link during his battle with him in the Fire Sanctuary. Historia confirmed it.

Because Hyrule Historia states that the splits occur in OoT - one where Ganon kills Link (Link's Awakening, the first Zelda game), one following child!Link returned to his own time (Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess), and the third following the adult timeline which Link left after defeating Ganon (Wind Waker etc).

Either you've got the game mixed up, or that's an unofficial theory afaik =)

@Envyi No, I know about the Child, Adult, and Deceased timelines. Historia confirmed a 4th timeline, one were Ghirahim defeats Link in the Fire Sanctuary. This created the "Oblivion Timeline", one where Demise is revived and takes over the Surface, but can't reach Skyloft. There are no games following it as of yet, but Miyamoto (spelling?) confirmed that future games will take place somewhere along this timeline, one where a new Link possibly takes back the Surface with the help of Fi.

@Envyi There is also more info he gave, but that's all I could fit in that comment. He went on to say that after Demise has takes over the surface, he alters the Robots from SS to do his bidding, and he basically creates a Steam-Punk world. This evolves most of the remaining races from SS into completely new creatures, and Demise starts to mine the earth for minerals to make him even more powerful. His 2nd in command is Ghirahim, and he has multiple Generals watching over the races.

@Dinoculars While "sex appeal" is perhaps too blunt and carries... well, sexual connotations, I do think the developers knew what they were doing when they created an effeminate, melodramatic, obsessive lead villain who stands right behind Link and licks at the air by his ear. To me, and many others, these scenes can be (mis)interpreted for "yaoi sexual fantasies", but I think a child would only see it as goofy/creepy, which is also true. tl:dr the devs -are- baiting the yaoi fangirls somewhat

It's entirely down to the player, but there's no oblique, definite gayness as that just wouldn't work in LoZ.

But the OP made it sound like that was the sole reason the character is in the game, which is the part that may have pushed my buttons. While the character is sexually charged, and certainly can give fantasies of the sexual nature; I don't believe this was any intent of their's. Ganon hadn't been born yet, so they just needed a new villain. Took fear in a different direction, was all.
