  • so its capt kirk that hosts this show, makes it even better!

  • DAMN 1:18 scared me

  • 1:29 Snake: Don't tread on meh! I'll byte u.

  • The video is great, but the volume needs to be higher.

  • They need to bring this show back!

  • this is gowing to come in handy one day you never konw wen stuff like this will happen

  • did he die?

  • Are all of these shows real allgood2000

  • @internalinrockee They are re-enactments of real incidents.

  • Snakes can produce deadly bites.

  • how did they killed the snake? do you know how hard it is to kill a snake

  • i would kill tht snake with my shotgun or chop it with a sledge hammer

  • @rbkersey How dumb are you? Snakes and most other animals were on the planet before the first, well, hominids. So we are in THEIR territory. Infact, we have no right to decide to defend them or not. It should be vice-versa. So.. shut up!! and the same goes for the rest of you who thumbs-upped this mentalist!

  • This is close to where I live in Clinton, Louisiana

  • Good child watching skills there.

  • you are supposed to have the child lying flat on its back so then the venom wont travel any faster, put a pillow under its foot just to elevate it a little. try to calm the child until help arrives.

  • high-tech 3-way calling at 3:58 FTW

  • It's scary when a baby gets bitten by a snake, but for me it's worse cuz it happened a few hours from where I used to live.

  • i do not care

  • That poor father. I can see he really loves his little boy.

My daughter got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 2 days before her Birthday and when I was in the emerge with her and she was fading in and out of consciousness, I was thinking the same thing as him. If she goes I will give up on life.

It's the hardest thing to see your own child so close to death.

  • 1:39 that scared the crap out of me!

  • It's amazing how far 911 procedures have come. Here in Texas, all of our dispatchers are certified in first aid procedures and treatment over the phone. This show is a great show and monument to what all we (EMS) have learned.

  • a copper head is different collored that i know because a python looks the same as a rattle snake but the differences between the snakes are that the python doesnt have a raddle a raddle snake does

  • 1:31-1:34 is not a cottonmouth, just your average water snake. 1:38-1:40 is DEFINITELY a cotton mouth though.

  • why it took ninteen minutes was because they didnt speed if they did it would have taken me about 5 to 4 minutes

  • I love snakes but if i see one alive i have to get distance.

  • Are there any cottonmouth's is Canada?

  • I hate snakes... I kill them at ever opportunity!

  • ive been bitten by a python and went to hospital for 1 year

  • if some1 was in bad condition.. would the ambulance take a chance to go on the freeway if it was faster?

  • Why is antivenom so fatal?

  • how are these cameras there when it all happened s ?????

  • yep, that was a copperhead allright

  • i remeber watching this show in like 2003 or something

  • Here's a question. Why couldn't they airlift him?

  • are cottonmouths poisunus??

  • hes so cute!

  • @alyssabug13 How old are you...Did u ever go to a camp called young set club?

  • This story almost happened to my family several years ago, but with a coral snake instead... my dog killed it in our backyard, but not before it bit her mouth. It was out by our swings, so if my little brother or I had decided to go out and play... it might have been one of us on this show. My dog survived the snake bite, and she lived for six more years, to the age of 11.

  • she died

  • that is nasty times a thousand

  • Thats why I actually watch my child rather than just allowing him to wonder off by himself...

  • the lady in the vid said copper head

  • At 1:48 when she says "I was worried about the fire ants", I wonder if that was a hidden reference to the fire-ant situation with the baby.

  • I almost cried when the snake bit the baby but I felt better when the doctors took it seriously.

  • dam thats not good but why did they not watch that kid better ???????

  • OMG I would never do that to a child at all i fell really bad for the toddler

  • Could someone tell me where that bridge they show is located?

  • @CheekyThrill That bridge is the Pontchartrain Causeway that goes across Lake Pontchartrain and into New Orleans, where I am assuming that Children's Hospital is, where the baby was treated for the bite.

  • she honestly thinks its a copperhead...

  • @wertyou567 Copperheads and cottonmouths can look alike, especially when the cottonmouth is in the juvenile stage and hasn't darkened yet. I mistook a cottonmouth for a copperhead the first time I saw one.

  • If them paramedics and/or parents had a snake-bite kit or one of them emergency kits for snake bites, poisonous spider bites, bee stings, wasp stings, or whatever else, they'd get a certain percentage of poison out of the body when aiding baby Kyle. All stores that have fishing and/or camping supplies, most of them do have snake-bite kits and other emergency kits for things like this. If I lived where anything poisonous are or can be, I'd have them for myself and anyone for emergencies.

  • To RogueKnight12866 - Who would you sue? The snake?? Can't blame any one that a wild animal comes on to ones land and causes injury. You are part of what is wrong with this country now. Sue over everything. The court system is already over stressed with stupid lawsuits and over regulations. It was a pear accident, nothing more.

  • scary

  • dont play with snakes kid

  • Did anyone notice that the picture of the snake at 1.31 looked like it was multi-colored, but at 1.39, the snake looks completely brown? Did they use two different snakes when re-creating the event?

In any case, this was a horrible story. I have heard that cottonmouths are very mean/ aggressive snakes.

  • @Jibjub1980 They probably used a non-poisonous snake for the scenes where the kid is standing close to the snake, and an actual cottonmouth for the scenes that don't have any people in them.

  • @allgood2000 i wouldnt let my kids bite any snakes even though its a scenes..

  • the parents is fucking amazaing they dont looke after their baby the just having fun omg whata parenta im 13 and im looking after my sister every day !

  • omg that must hurt a black snak owtch

  • stupid parents!!! why they didnt look after their baby? the mother was too busy chatting and the father too.irresponsible parents...

  • it gave a good warning: HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSS it was just a baby but still it went to close and : NOM!

:( poor baby bitten by a snake

  • over protective mother!!!!!!! you want to ride an elephant lol

  • Родители-уроды!

  • I'm happy he is okay and its cool to hear is in EMS now and got to see the people who save his life when he was little.

  • I shot a cottonmouth with a BB Gun.

  • the poor thing woudln't know any better...

  • yeh we have to respect snake in their homes but, when they come into OUR territry that's a whole different story! It's not funny when a baby is bitten, not at all! and you can kiss my ass dark death saurer! It is NEVER funny when a baby is bitten!!!

  • shut up everybody u all a re just lucky the kid is alive

  • oh she just said it was a copperhead.

  • but it was really a cotton mouth

  • it was a south amaricon cottenmouth

  • Snake bite at 1:40

  • what kind of snake whas it?

  • a cottonmouth i think...

  • it was a cottonmouth:)

  • a cottonmouth...ouch!

  • a black snake

  • The snake is a Cottonmouth

  • A cottonmouth.

  • If I had to guess I'd say a black python.

  • am i missing something here? the footage of the baby is obviously all a reconstruction but in places like when he's being carried into th ambulance he looks genuinely traumatised. he's to young to 'act' so why are the producers using a genuinely distressed toddler just to raise ratings?

  • They don't harm babies and toddlers to do that. Usually what they do is have their parents appear on set briefly and then walk away.

  • ????????????????????????

  • The boy is own group and has become a EMT and reunited with those paramedics. See the reunion video here:

    watch?v=-ifGxtBPWwg

  • Poor baby I hope he's ok

  • As of today, this little boy is 19 yrs old and in training to become a EMS . Proud of you Kyle.

  • aww this video made me cry im glad that this little boy is alive he had such a sweet face

  • That's my dad! I forgot he did this show after that kid got bit. I almost forgot what he looked like with hair!

  • thats cool

  • yes

  • They really should build a children's hospital in the town St. Tammy parish LO.

  • Comment removed

  • why the fuck didnt they fly him those 40 miles

  • I tend to agree with a comment made by OneSkiWonder, that snakes bite b/c that's what they do when they feel threatened.

I'd take that even farther and say it's the nature of a snake to bite, but I dislike snakes.

Actually, I'm loath to interact with ANY reptiles. They're cold and scaly and not my idea of a cuddly pet.

  • A Cottonmouth is a snake

  • obviously lol

  • well...i'll bet cha that kids does not go a foot away from his folks now....

  • that bridge is awesome

  • I love all the PETA fools who defend pit vipers. Cottonmouths are aggressive and will go out of their way to strike. Anyone who wont kill a poisonous snake that threatens their children is a fool.

  • definitely, i prefer a 44 magnum less than an inch from the head

  • @rbkersey The PETA don't tell people not to kill a snake that threatens other people, they protest against the uneccsessary slaughtering of animals.

    Get your facts straight.

  • @rbkersey but don't they normally strike out of self defense?

  • @rbkersey How was the Cottonmouth supposed to know that? It was doing what it knows. Self-defense. Their brains can't judge what they should and shouldn't bite.

  • Did someone really killed the snake that bit that little baby?

  • Yes, if a snake bites you, you're supposed to kill it if possible so the hospital can identify it and give you the correct antivenin.

  • @allgood2000 I never knew that about snakes.

  • @allgood2000 No actually you get a pressure bandage on from the bitesite up all the way to the limb. They can tell what kind of venom it is by testing the bitesite at the hospital. You're taking a risk by trying to kill the snake for identification because it could bite you

  • @musicianforjesus When I used to do field work in a pine plantation where there were lots of poisonous snakes, our protocol instructed that, if bitten, to kill the snake if possible and bring it to the hospital for identification. I guess the "if possible" part implies that you shouldn't try killing if you risk getting bitten again. I'm not sure a pressure bandage would really help, but I'll admit that I'm no snake expert.

  • @allgood2000 A pressure bandage, when applied right, is better than nothing.

It'll slow down the venom's progress, which will travel throughout the system if left unchecked.

  • @allgood2000 That reminds me of what happened to us 3 weeks ago.

When we arrived, the spider (the patient's 'pet' tarantula) was attached to the patient's hand.

I have arachnophobia, I didn't wanna go near it, and the patient insisted we 'don't hurt the spider.'

I'm thinking 'It's attached to your hand. What do you expect us to do? Strike up a friendship w/ it?'

Britt, my boss, got it off w/out killing it.

You don't need to identify a tarantula, b/c its bite has specific symptoms.

  • While the child is going towards the snake, it's one kind, and then when he's bit, you can see that it's a totally different snake.

  • that was cool

  • I´m really glad there aren´t so many snakes in Sweden. There is one poisonus kind and two non-poisonus kinds. The poisonus one (huggorm) is not deadly poisonus unless you are allergic. But they usually just crawl away if someone approches them.

    Btw, this show is great

  • I'm glad that this little baby was still alive after that snake bite which was all ready propery cured.

  • ive researched snakes all my life now if anyone says this is the snakes fault there wrong to the snake a toddler is comparable to a bear if you compare the snake to a full grown man so it uses its only defense venom and its not the kids fault either it is the stupid parents fault anywhere outside the house you always have to have a visual on the child and make sure he is 10 or less feet from you you'ed better be glad micheal jackson wasnt around with you not watching him

  • I agree. Who lets a toddler wander off otside on a ot dry day when you know cottonheads are native to your area? I'm not for blaming parents all the time when their children get hurt, but this was pure negligence.

  • Now you don't put a constricting band or torniquet you keep the patient calm and place the site of the bite just above the heart to slow the venom, It is so important to call 911. Actually hospitals might not use antivenom due to a reaction they will treat the symptoms as they arise just like an allergic reaction. If your scared the kid will be scared KEEP CALM. It is very rare to die with proper care.

  • Fuck the cottonmouth

  • Where did the cottonmouth bite the baby on.

  • On his foot.

  • anti-venom is one the best medicines made in hospitals so i have heard

  • i love all of the people on here that aren't parents so they don't realize you CANT keep a toddler still 24 hours a day and you can't watch them 24 hours a day. I agree she should have been paying more attention but ya gotta realize kids are gonna wander off

  • I completly agree with this...Its our job as parents to watch our childred, but on occasion they do slip right by you.

  • Wow, A Friend Of Mine's Mom had got bit by a snake, but it wasn't a venomes one. I Think That Those People Should've Watch That Baby More Closely.

  • retard, watch ur toddler so he don't get bitten by a pit viper next time (a cottonmouth is a type of pitviper)

  • Oh Really?.

  • yes

  • it sad

  • Well that was someting he didn't want to fill for sure!

  • It surprises me no end that any nurse doesn't know to put a constricting band on a snake bite.

About a month ago, one of the nurses where we dropped off our patient told me that I as a Paramedic am not as knowledgeable as any nurse.

Based on HER logic, the nurse in the segment would have known how to treat the bite.

    I wonder why she didn't.

  • a rubberband is not going to help you need something a little more....strong

  • no it not good

  • i love snakes i own 5 but i still think they did the right thing killing it for idenifacation

  • considering that they most likely wouldn't be able to quickly enough catch it alive while not getting bitten themselves, yes, I suppose killing it was the most logical way to go

  • 7:15 is that the longest bridge in the world?

  • Good God Man.. You're Right!! WTF kinda bridge is that?! lol

  • I dont know it looks freaky and small

  • A cottom mouth is flat at the head, and don't need to be big, its deadly because its very poisonous, its a type of pit viper according to some guides.

  • I mean the bridge not the snake LOL

  • nice. im impressed cuz i grew up teaching myself about snakes and that fact slipped my mind

  • thanx

  • holy shit, its long and short, i wonder if that bridge ever kill people before, u no like during a bad storm and the water would rise

  • Its the causeway, longest bridge in the world. 25 miles long, and the thing that kills is the fog in the morning. I drive it everyday.

  • damn the dispatcher's hot!

  • No I'm not a fucking retard.

and i wouldent go up to a snake in the first place. That childs mother was stupid to let her kid go out like that.

  • yes you are

  • You are so right on this, Karasu118. The child's mother was more than just merely stupid, she was a friggin incompetent fool who after this should've been arrested, thrown in the slammer and barred from ever having custody of this child or any other EVER again. I would forbid her to even babysit a child ever for the rest of her life.

  • that woman is a moron. QUIT TALKIN AND WATCH YOUR KID IDIOT!!!

  • Okay. I've seen your idiotic comments. But this one takes the cake. You can't watch your child every second of every day of their lives. Plus, we share our land with nature's creatures and when animals and humans collide, things happen. This was an accident and accident can't always be avoided. Are you going to take a child away from his parents because the child was scratched by the family cat? I wouldn't.

  • People are so stupid sometimes. Why would you kill the snake for doing something thats natural for it? all animals protect their territory and when they feel threatened they attack

It was stupid for the mother to let her kid go off like that.

  • When you get bitten, you're supposed to kill the snake (if possible) so that it can properly identified and the correct antivenin can be administered. I did some outdoor work last summer, and that was part of our protocol for snakebites.

In this episode, for instance, the family thought the snake was a copperhead, but it was really a cottonmouth.

  • You realize I just caught a mispelling in one of the words. The correct is antivenom. There, gotcha.

  • You didn't get me RogueKnight, antivenin is also a correct spelling. Consult the dictionary.

  • Lets say it bit your face. What would u do with it? Pet it and say "Aw,good snake for doing ur natural stuff!"

Gosh, seriously, use ur common sense,it doesn't hurt ur brain that bad.

  • not all snakes are the same you know. besides, certain snakes are pretty good in their own way.

  • no snake is bad, remember the desert, the rainforest, even the waters are THEIR home, when we go to places we have to respect them. I have been camping for 10 years, never been bitten by a snake, but seen plenty of em. Rattlers, diamond backs, but you respect them, they leave you alone, they know they can't do much to us, so they won't bother us unless they feel threatened, same with sharks, spiders, and any other animal.

  • 'Tis true. It's a shame they had to kill the snake, but that made it much simpler to determine WHAT bit the little boy. The snake of course thought, "Whoa! What the hell. I'm going to get eaten." Cottonmouths for whatever reason stand their ground to protect themselves. Just glad the boy's ok...he's probably 19 by now.

  • i agree with you its like any wild animal you are going into its home and have to respect it and its territorry(if i spelt that right).

  • DUDE ITS A BABY... how the hell is he supposed to know to leave it alone or not even get close to it?

  • wooo i admire you! simply amazing!

  • u're right. but this toddler didnt mean to bother the snake. im sure if he knew the snake was there, he'd never go near it, but u never know what'll happen if u go for a family picnic or camping. maybe u're just lucky that nothing's bitten u while camping for the past 10 yrs whether u respect them or their territory, if it's gonna happen, it'll happen. all animals like human beings, feel threatened but we're human beings, we'll go places not knowing some animal's gonna attack us.

  • @DarkDeathSaurer the baby didnt even touch the snake, and the snake attacked him,

  • @HighlightsOfSoccer yeah because he got close to the snake so it striked to protect itself it didnt know what the kid was

  • @DarkDeathSaurer

A picture would be more than sufficient for identifying the snake

  • @soumya5200 Probably true, if it were a good picture, but they didn't have digital cameras back then, so unless they happened to have a polaroid camera handy, they would have had to wait for the pictures to be developed

  • @soumya5200 well im no expert but , one thing i know that these snakes can be very tricky to see in a pile of junk

  • @DarkDeathSaurer i agree with this, except sharks.. try telling the surfers who have been attacked that they got in the sharks way and threatened the shark.. i no for a fact that (although few are attacked) most surfers who do get attacked by sharks weren't threatening the sharks its just that the sharks thought they were seals and other creatures.. Bethany Hamilton for example was just wearing a shiny watch that the shark mistook for food or something....

  • @DarkDeathSaurer if one advances on me, it gets cut in half.

  • @DarkDeathSaurer In normal cases, this would be normal, but this is a child. They do things like this. They notice that an animal it there, but they do not think that it will hurt them. This is no way the child's fault if that is what you are implying. If a snake bit my child, ITS A DEAD SNAKE.

  • idiot

  • ooo nice comeback moron

  • haha i used to love this show back in russia since i was 5

  • one day when i have kids ill make sure im with them when there out side and make sure nothing happens and i would teach them what can hurt them and what cant

  • the 1 u were arguing with lol

  • ther are gangs every where just because you dont hear about them doesnt mean the arent there

  • I'm aware of that. They're just more common in some places than they are in others. Or, were you responding to the user with whom I was arguing?

  • Anyone know why it's called a Cottonmouth?

  • I think's because the inside of its mouth is white.
