  • so when this comes out can i buy it the way it looks in the video?

  • @LEON13858 obviously not unless you want to build one yourself :-)

  • @amfpvt well give me the instructions and i'll give it a go.

  • the new version looks shit. they have added chunks of plastic to it and added spikes to the treads. this prototype looks so much better

  • How much does that cost???

  • Scarpar: bringing surfing and or snowboarding to everyone!

  • Scarpar: setting a whole new par for the number of scar.s

  • 2,000 dollars jesus christ that is expensive cool idea none the less..

  • gizmag.com/scarpar-electric-powerboard-ready-for-production/18850/picture/135558/

  • meh

  • A real man ride´s a Oldschool skateboard...

  • NYYYYYCE!!!

  • How long will it run? That's the biggie.

  • @Vanrasmus up to 32 miles ... long enough :-)

  • how much does it costs? i mean this model.....:D please tell cuse it looks AWESUM!!!

  • Whats the name of the song?

  • It's no hoverboard, but damn it's still cool

  • We will have a pre-release version available next year ... Price to be set still. The price guidance on the release 'standard' model remains US$2-3,000. The Scarpar Team

  • Exactly how much money do I need to throw at your company in order to have one of these.

  • @EcksBawks have check the DTV Shredder from BPG Werks?

  • when will we see a demo of the final product, must be getting close to a release date now

  • @stebod YES, getting closer. Detailed engineering for prototyping is complete. Prototype build is next (which will be pretty much the release product except whatever tweaks come out of the prototype testing) ... then finalise detail, 2d and 3d manufacturing drawings ... then 'serial production'. Our best case, late this year. Our likely case early next year delivery. Should be able to take orders and provide a spec by the end of September / early October. Cheers!

  • wow

  • This is clearly very, very awesome.

  • wow now i really wish i had a job i mountainboard myself but your powerboard is far better if i ever had the money i would definitly buy this

  • @BMXshreader Thanks ... we are working on a finance option ... failing that start saving! Cheers.

  • @scarparhome im still trying to save for a £200 mountain board deck which i've been saving since december time but who knows maby in a few years i might be able to get one :)

  • I wish it would hover..

  • cool

  • If you get it down to a grand I will buy one that same day

  • @TransitTechLA Hi TransitTechLA, To get it down to a grand we either need reduce the build quality so it'll break easily, or reduce the battery life to 5 minutes ... you won't buy one at a grand:-) So start saving, it'll be worth it. On target for Q4 this year. Lots of announcements coming in June / July. Cheers, The Scarpar Team

  • @scarparhome im 15 n if i start saving now i think i can afford it by the time im 20 something :) cant wait

  • @zyset it'll be worth it ... guaranteed

  • @scarparhome but where are they sold in the US

  • @zyset everywhere is the plan ... cheers

  • looks like how a snowmobile works. does it charge itself as it is releasing energy? It would sell better.

  • @addadhdnarc It will be electric. Regenerative braking is possible. Cheers.

  • omg that is sooo BEAST! i want 1 just to go to skwl with xDD

  • what a peice of shit looks to toyish

  • Jealous!

  • the dirtbike gears a little overkill lol

  • OMG! i gotta have one ov these!!!!

  • haha skateboard atv wtf

  • yea! cool

  • looks amazing, hey anyone know the name of the song? or who the band that sung it are?

  • "Revision" by Change of Face.

Can't find it anywhere though other than on Myspace.

  • now, what i want is a big one. not that i can sit in, but, about 2x or 3x the size. bigger tracks, bigger platform (if that is how these work. just found them, haven't done much digging) i dreamed about this since i was a kid.

  • oh boy, please tell me it's not a hoax. this seems so awesome.

on your site you said in the faq that "specifics of the vehicle's design are the subject of current and future patents". I searched on google for "scarpar patent" but couldn't find anything. Where are those patents?

Sorry to be the skeptic, but you know when we were kids they told us that hover boards and jet packs will be possible, and we ain't seen none of that future awesomeness yet. Please don't ruin my dreams:)

  • jetpacks are real, they just cost a lot, and run for a minute tops

  • hey i mean it looks like a great and fun product but price? Lets get real here whose gonna pay 2000 to 3000 for this? I would rather use that money and buy a Segway or something. I am not trying to be mean i think you created a great product here but from my point of view i think this may be a little costly. I bought myself a high powered scooter that can do just the same as this and it cost 600 so is there Any chance you guys can bring the price down? If so i would buy one of these right away!

  • Hi Nick,

We hope to bring the price down ... at the moment, batteries alone are going to cost us over $500 so we really don't have a lot of lattitude, however once our components are mass manufactured and battery prices fall off I am sure the price will reduce.

    Cheers.

    The Scarpar Team

  • Ok good. Thank you for the information and i hope to be one of your first customers to buy this! I am very interested and can't wait to see it in stores.

  • Is it true that it can get a speed of 60 km/h?

  • Actually, the vehicle requires very little power to 'go fast' ... approximately 25% of it's total power will get it to top speed and the rest is for climbing hills. Will it do 60kmh ... yes, and in fact theoretcially quite a bit faster. We are going to have to ratchet that down to 45-50kmh for legal and compliance reasons on release but it is technically more than possible.

    The Scarpar Team

  • How hard is it to maneuver? Do you need to have some level of experience in skateboarding or any other type of boarding? (Except for water boarding because that is illegal lol)

  • Water boarding is great experience ... no not really, but any other boarding is great :-) Even without, you'll get it.

Like everything, a little time getting used it and you'll be fine.

    The Scarpar Team

  • i have a question for the team at scarpar

if i was to purchase one of these and wanted to compete

    how would i compete?

as i see no way to do tricks would it be a flatout race?

  • Yes, flat our race, track, jumps, tricks ... they saw no way to do tricks on motorbikes either ... we know you'll work that out :-)

    Cheers,

    The Scarpar Team

  • zoids inspired much?

  • looks awesome i'd want to try it out :D im an actually skateboarder and i got this from a site and i was wandering would it be able to do tricks :D not comlicated just little tricks - im totally buying this if i have the money XD

  • I want one...

  • What's the release for belgium?

    And the price?

  • Mid to late 2010 is the plan. US$2-3,000 price guidance, not finalised.

    Thanks.

    The Scarpar Team

  • Little expensive

    Don't u think? :/

  • We think you'll think it's worth it.

    The Scarpar Team

  • Its not that but it looks a little expensive :)

But I think when it will be in progress The price will go down. (I hope)

  • When are these going to be released in sweden? x]

  • Mid to late 2010 is the plan.

    Thanks.

    The Scarpar Team

  • Aaah. I might actually afford one then :D

    Cheers.

  • as soon as the price gets below 1k I'm getting one

    what technology is behind it?

from one side I heard it's like a "hoverboard", from others I've heard it's just the board version of the segway, what is it?

  • I hope that electric components come down enough so that we can do that some time.

It's not a Segway ... there's no gyro balancing involved. It's not a hoverboard, but hey who knows what'll be possible in the future.

It's an electric off-road product for board riders. We don't really like to compare it to anything :-)

    Thanks for the comment.

    Cheers,

    The Scarpar Team

  • My first reaction was "What's he using, belt sanders?" That looks like fun, though - might have to consider getting one when it becomes commercially viable. (I'm not a board rider at all, but it would be fun to learn.)

  • dude i had this idea years go ha to bad im nit smrt enought to make it happen.

  • Uhhhh. Seriously? LOL.

  • How long would it take to learn how to ride one of these? and what are the controls?

  • You would just be able to stand on it, no balance required. If you can ride any other kind of board, you'll be right and even if you haven't you'll pick it up.

The controls are hand accelleration and braking. Wired (connected) right now, but we are looking at a wireless project for the hand controller. We have some safety concerns around this, but have it on the roadmap.

    The Scarpar Team

  • cracked.

  • I was intersted in the cost too because I can get the wheelman Bushpig on ebay for about 450.00 dollars

  • Hi,

Note the video title and our tagline "powersports for board riders" ... our intent is to give board riders a credible alternative to ATVs, off-road motocross bikes, and other off-road vehicle purchases.

We simply aren't trying to compete with the cheap Chinese copy market on ebay and in fact are creating a new vehicle class.

    Thanks for the question.

    The Scarpar team

  • @scarparhome board riders aren't looking for an alternative to ATVs and off road motocross because they surf or snowboard. That's why they're called board riders.

  • @sdmitch16 we'll see ... we are betting the bank that they are :-) Cheers.

  • ya, but what can you do on it other than ride around?

  • Up to your imagination ... it will blend!

    The Scarpar Team

  • And now I want one. Frak!

  • One thing I notice the video does NOT show: just how noisy this sucker really is. Still, looks like it could be a lot of fun.

  • Awesome vid! We featured it on our channel today....so come check it out when you have a chance :)

  • that looks like a lot of fun !

  • This prototype has huge potential.

Mobilize troops? If NASA returns to the moon? Wow.

  • i know this is ranged at about 2000-3000 right now, but is there any chance of the price being reduced? close to 1000? i can't afford $2000 :P

  • how many of km/h?

  • can you kickflip ?

    lol

  • Quick, somebody call NASA.

Think extraplanetary robotic missions in need of an all terrain vehicle, small yet fierce.

  • this looks like something the military might use moving heavy gear fast , how much can it carry and still retain the speed

  • Only depends on power ... current specs are to be able to carry 110kg person up a 15 degree slope.

    The Scarpar Team

  • This thing looks pretty cool!

Anyone know what the music is?

  • How much?

    I want it. :D

  • See the FAQ on the website.

    The Scarpar Team

  • Awesome! This is what I always pictured the future would look like when I was like 14! :D

I can definitely see this in a movie, too... :)

  • if you need anyone for testing, i'm up for it

  • Can this be ridden goofy as well?

  • Absolutely ... agnostic to your sidedness :-)

    The Scarpar Team

  • has this thing got breaks?

  • Yep ... so fear not!

    The Scarpar Team

  • should have an optional handlebar like a scooter for more stability.

If you guys can make this thing go 60+kph like you say I can't wait to get one and break my legs on it

  • Thanks for the suggestion ...

    The Scarpar Team

  • no a handlebar would make this thing hideous, keep it a board, much more competitive and it will stay in the "cool" section, kind of like how skateboarding has become. IF you add the handlebar it will be looked upon as dumb by a lot of people. Sad but true and its more competitive looking this way.

  • "Powersports for Board Riders" ... it'll be a board on release!

    Thanks.

    The Scarpar Team

  • must have...

  • Can't tell how loud it is with this shitty music

  • Had a 2 stroke in the prototype, so as loud as a 2 stroke :-)

The final product will be EPA / CARB compliant.

    The Scarpar Team

  • hey what is the soundtrack??

please send me one to test drive here in Brazil

  • Frankly, I wish he would.

  • I need one of these, hell I need two - One for each foot.

  • Steve Irwin died by a sting ray.......... Are you serious?

  • Is the string ray a previous version name?

  • Nope, I think it was someone explaining what happened to Steve Irwin ... who we have never had anything to do with, but he is also Australian.

I think the original commentor was being sarcastic and it got lost in the translation.

    The Scarpar Team

  • Yup, thats what happened.....

  • STING RAY, it is a marine animal, related to the shark. STEVE IRWIN, died when he was pierced in the heart by a STING RAY barb. This happened in the OCEAN, far from land, NOT BY THIS THING. I can't get much clearer then this.

  • They put BARBS on these things? They should take those off in the next version sounds dangerous.

  • Hahahaha, fuck you, goddamn. I fell for it....

  • thats sick!!!

  • Now watch it again, on mute, and cue up some Mozart instead AND IT'S STILL AWESOME...That's a good sign, methinks.

  • Now you only need to relate it to Kourier's skateboards in Neal Stephenson's "Snow Crash".

PS. Dont forget to add magnetic harpoon to catch the cars on a highway : )

  • Magnetic harpoon. Must talk to product development about getting it on the product roadmap :-)

    The Scarpar Team

  • looks fun ! but expensive ! :O

  • another unnecesary toy for mankind

  • Fast

    agile

    noisy as Fuk

  • This is a truley increadable product. I envy those who have tried it already. I think everyone at Scarper should be increadably pround for creating such a fine product. I think I speak for most people when I say that you have made one of the best products of 2009! Conrats

    James

  • Thanks James ... appreciate the positive feedback ... !!!!

    The Scarpar Team

  • Забавная вещь)) По-моему, удобней обычного скейта.

  • Thanks!

    The Scarpar Team

  • Cool I'd love to have one in my garage;)

But how much is it gonna cost in stores, and how fast does it run in average and on flat road(Km/h please not in miles).

Thanks alot on forehand and good luck with your product from Denmark:)

  • I am in a video contest at school and I need a lot of people to watch my video to win! Type this into your search bar if you are willing to help me out!

Winter@Westminster 2009: Team Dance to the Dinosaur Beat

  • Looks great, what's the top speed of this baby then?

  • Probably will be governed to 28mph (45kmh) based on legal advice :-)

The power train is theoretically capable of 50mph (80kmh) but we won't be enabling this!

    The Scarpar Team

  • This is great I would love to take this all over my state!

  • Errr ... nope ... it's all real. The pixels are from the mashup of poor handheld video in amongst the professional stuff.

    So cynical :-)

    The Scarpar Team

  • I was just playin'

The thing looks pretty cool. I'm probably too old to try that out. I hope this sells well and later you can shrink it down into a individual shoes so society can degenerate into a bunch of douchebags zooming around the mall at 20 mph texting and running into each other.

Imagine leaning back some and driving your self around with motorized shoes and a protective suit on the highway?

Fuck walking lets all get fatter with this thing.

  • sick i want one, i cant imagine it beening all that strong tho..

  • i want to receive one of these for my birthday

  • this is a sweet way of getting to work.cool idea.dont listen to the faggots who dis this product its looks awsome.i want one.

  • Thank you robnbob ... and hopefully you shall have one at some point!

66000 people watched this video in the last 24 hours and only about 6 people dissed us. They are in the minority and we don't take them too seriously.

    The supports is appreciated!

    The Scarpar Team

  • shiet, now and days thats a good way for transportation.

  • Thank you for the constructive and insightful feedback. We appreciate it.

    The Scarpar team

  • When is it going to be available? I saw in 2007 but its's 2009!

  • See the website FAQs ... looking like 2010 due to funding delays ... Global Financial Crisis etc etc

    The Scarpar Team

  • It sure is unstoppable :) Nice!

  • Thanks for the encouragement about our cideo.

    Much appreciated.

    The Scarpar Team

  • Are you backing up the comment below then? Excluding the end of the comment obviously this is not lame and shit its pretty wicked but what about the speed?

  • cvbideo... whatecer ^^ you still could upload a real cideo where you didnt fastforward eceryting

  • Nice one, moron, half the things the rider does u couldn't do going at like 3mph, its probably going what, 15? 20? faster than you anyday, and if you don't like something, don't waste your time and post about it.

  • If its so great and fast why dont they just show it then?

  • awesome stuff... when is it expected to be available for consummers?

  • I saw in the comments that you expect it to be jumped, I'd like to know more about this and how much it weighs. It would be great to be able to jump (ollie) onto a curb or over a small log, but it seems way too heavy and difficult with externally powered wheels.

  • It's never going to be a skateboard ... think of what you could do if you could squeeze a trigger and take off instead :-)

    Thanks for the comment.

    The Scarpar Team

  • I'd like to see a vid with more cornering and braking...

  • Looks mint, will it be durable, and long lasting? and also What does it run on, treads? or is it hovering? looks amazing, you guys are pure genius, hope to see this mass marketed. :)

  • Thanks ... so do we!

    It's on tracks / treads.

    The Scarpar Team

  • call me when it cost 200 bucks, uses an electric motor, and weight 3 libs

  • Will do ... should be around the year 2025 ... :-)

    The Scarpar Team

  • I suppose i'll take one for the team and be a test rider for you guys. Just go ahead and collect my info, send me the board, and i'll take care of the rest.

    You're welcome.
