  • I vote Barbaro, because I still think he would've been our next Triple Crown winner, had he not taken that bad step on that fateful day of the Belmont. He just has such class to him and his presence. You know what they say, though: even professionals can have bad days. If God chooses for something to happen, no matter how good you are, it's going to happen, and you can't avoid it... :-(

  • Zenyatta would kill all of them, but if she wasn't in it then go Barbaro

  • I love Ghostzapper. I think he was a great colt and I know he ran the fastest B.C. Classic ever. But you're missing one colt. If he were on your list, at Churchill Downs on a fast track, I'd take the 2003 HOY Mineshaft, 9-7-2-0 to beat all of these. Call me crazy if you want, but in 03', Mineshaft was like a machine on the track. But of the horses that you listed, I think it would be close between Ghostzapper and Barbaro. JMO.

  • Ghostzapper and Invasor would fight it out. Slight leaning to Invasor, he was a real bulldog in a finish

  • $100 exactas......Ghostzapper/Invasor

    and Ghostzapper/Barbaro. Ghostzapper

wins easily! Thanks for an interesting

    concept. 5 stars!

  • Invasor wins by 1 and 1/2, simply because he couldn't afford being defeated. Ghostzapper holds for second a head in front of Smarty Jones. Curlin a well beaten 4th

  • Dr.Fager- check your inbox i sent you a comment.

  • manuraiders, a harness racing fan, me myself never got into watching, but sometimes i find myself watching the races on tvg, i must say i find that kind of racing interesting. anything with a horse competing and ill watch. as far as gioponti i have not had the chance to completely follow him, but from what i saw in the million, he is a tough cookie, that will posess a lot of problems for the the best europe has to offer in the fall. sorry about your horse getting hurt, and congrats on your win.

  • Dr. Fager- whats your feelings about Gio, looked awesome in the Million but to me his best race was in the Manahttan Handicap. Best turf male in the U.S. and we should see him in the breeders against the world. Thought in the million he moved to early and inside horse was gonna get him, but jockey hit him a couple of times and he went into another gear.

  • I really don't know if Justuffhumor isn't the best turf horse in America. I know he is more a miler than a distance horse, but he has the talent and the pedigree to be a star

  • DR. Fager- no doubt Zen is a great horse and will only get better as the season progresses, what I question though is why they waited so long to bring her back, and of coarse I realize not every great horse were mentioned. I was really a harness fan until I met the Clement family and they gave me the blanket from a race Rutheriene raced in in N.Y., however she cut her leg during that race and finished last, horse hasn't been the same since getting hurt although won a nice race in Canada.

  • manuraiders, there are a host of great horses i did not mention. yes the undefeated personal ensign was a great fantastic championess, sky beauty, ladys secret, ta wee, with the ladies it goes on and on. what were witnessing now with rachel and zen is something special rachel has big time speed and beat boys. thats a lot of proof of how good she is, zen almost got beat in her last out, and i am with you zen dont want none of rachel, but all said, zen is a beast and thats to be respected.

  • DR. Fager- to me beyer is an aspirin however you left out Personal Ensign, Seabisquit, and possibly Rachel if she continues her amazing run. The owners of Zen don't want to face her and will probably never leave California. Can't blame Rachels trainer for not wanting to run on the poly surface, but Im a big fan of Gio Ponti, know the family well as I coached their daughter in soccer. He could be special but he needs to beat the best in the world, not just the U.S.

  • but then again, a lot of folks on you tube posess the affinity for a particular horse who might not be great,or posess the fastest time, or carry the most weight,or faced a truly tough rival or a host of tough rivals. but thats just racing fans, yes ghostzapper was nice, but beyer figures dont prove greatness, thats a man made entity. greatness is measured in heart on the track, not on paper, no thoroughbred ever won a race on paper.truth is we dont know what will transpire when look eye to eye.

  • you guys must be a bunch of kids or your illiterate of thoroughbred racing .smarty jones, curlin, barbaro, big brown, invasor. will all be forgotten several years from now.horses that will for ever live on are the true greats, not the true wanna be,s. secretariat, ruffian, holy bull, seattle slew, affirmed, dr. fager, damascus, buckpasser, forego, tom fool, man o war, native dancer, citation, colin, jonh henry, sunday silence, easy goer, alysheba, spectacular bid, count fleet, ack ack .

  • If i had to choose out of these horses i would say Ghostzapper, however if you put Rachel in there we have a whole new ball game, she's an amazon, and probably the best female since Personal Ensign and possibly the imortal Ruffian. No offense to Zenyatta but she seems to only like the poly.

  • Zenyatta is actually faster on real dirt. look at her oaklawn race

  • I think they would all have a fantastic run, but you can't really choose who would win because anything can happen in a horse race. All of you guys' points are great but any one of them would have a great chance of winning.

  • im not a horse race fan, not really. So i only know barbaro. But you guys, did Curlin or Ghostzapper or whatever win the kentucky derby by like 6/7 lengths?!

  • curlins rating was 124 and rated best in the world ,get it right

  • ghostzapper wins hands down, just look at his 128 beyer no one comes close.

  • My list is

    #1 Smarty Jones

    #2 Curlin

#3 Ghostzapper - Photo for Third

#4 Barbaro - Photo for Third

    #5 Invasor

  • 9:15

  • i would be my tri...smart jones..barbaro (RIP)..and curlin. im not saying im right but thats how i would bet it.

barbaro's kentucky derby win will always be in my top 5 of races lol

  • ghostzapper

  • All of them in a photo finish. I think Curlin would be right there, he's a very determined horse, always tries. Invasor and Barbaro were great too, but I think the Zapper second a nose behind Curlin, the ARG horse in a dead heat with Barbaro for third, and don't forget about Smarty, who would try for everything he had. They're all amazing, and it's to hard to pick. Curlin's my favorite, but I don't know if he would win. It's just my opinion.

  • Invasor at his best was the best of this group; but Tiznow would beat them all after he's had a race or two put into him. He's the only one with the determination to come back and beat a horse such as Invasor. Unfair to put Barbaro in this discussion, as we'll never know what kind of 4 YO he would have been. Same with Smarty Jones.

  • Why is it unfair?

It's not like we are ever going to see the result to this race, just as if Smarty and Barbaro even ran at 4.

  • @panhandleman2 you cant be serious...Gzap would have fried them all with his top end speed! Each of the last 3 quarters faster than the one before...closers would choke on his vapour trail1

  • @panhandleman2 MYHELIO AS WELL... R U SERIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GHOSTZAPPER IS IN ANOTHER WORLD COMPARED TO THESE HORSES. if u take zapper out of this field then we have a real race... with zapper in this field we still have a real race, FOR SECOND PLACE!!!!!!

  • Smarty Jones would have beat the lot.

  • and i will tell you how the race goes with alex instead of invasor. barbaro will fight with smarty for the lead and set the pace. curlin will be stalking with ghostzapper and alex sitting behind em. curlin will try to get the lead but all 3 up front will burn. ghostzapper and alex will close and finish 1-2 as both of em have the best late kick. i believe a head bob between alex and zapper at the end with (do i have to choose) alex winning!!

  • nice video but your a fool to have invasor in the race. ghostzapper i agree with 100%, as too with smarty, curlin, and barbaro. take out invasor and put in afleet alex then we have the 5 best in the last 7 years or so.

  • Alex was extreamly talented. Invasor though, was a Breeders' Cup winner at Churchill, won eleven out of twelve races. Alex retired after the Belmont. Who knows, when I was making this video I was picking the horses who really stood out. Too me at least.

  • Barbaro

  • smarty jones for many reasons his is by far not the worst in this pack. and it also depends on distance

  • First off let me say Tiznow on his best day... I love that Cal Bred....lol

But the horse that I think would be the best horse of 2000-2010.... Not Ghostzapper, Point Givien, Lava Man in California, Smart Jones, or Afleet Alex. In fact, the horse that im about to mention shares the same blood as Invasor, but he came before Invasor...

    CANDY RIDE

  • Ghostzapper is not only the best of this field but is in in the top 10 of all time. Would have loved to have seen him go up against Sec, Fager, Bid, et al.

  • finally someone who knows horse racing, zapper is by far better than these horses that are mentioned, probably the best horse since formal gold.

  • Please. Name me some more, because I would love to discuss your thinking.

Oh and while your at it, get some class because you obviously have none.

  • Who said these are the best? It just says extremely talented, not the best of

  • well its very tough--as three yr olds--i go with barbaro--yes thats abit from the heart but i stand by it--as a 4 yr old--curlin all the way-- think he is the best 4 yr old since spectacular bid.

  • I don't disagree with your comment about Curlin being the best 4 yr old since the Bid, but then again, how many 4 yr olds have their been since the Bid? Oh what life as a fan must have been like back when racehorses raced...

  • yes--and you had these great generational matchups--slew against affirmed--affirmed against spectacular bid ect....if i was a breeder--i'd want to see 4 yr old form--think makes for a better judgement of soundness ect...

  • formal gold would have smoked curlins ass if they ever met up, curlin was a very good horse but far from great, he didnt even break th 120 beyer, check out formal golds numbers they speak volumes of the horse he was and who he beat.

  • Churchill on a fast track, Street Sense

    Oh wait...

Ghostzapper. Easily. By 4 pulled up

  • depending on the distance...i think that ghostzapper may defeat invasor at shorter distances(8.5 or 9 furlongs) but on 1 and a quarter mile and over invasor is by far the best

  • lengua Zap was a monster at a mile and a quarter also, see his 1:59 flat in the Classic. Doubt even Invasor would have beaten that.
