its on wii virtual console i was looking here what it was maybe i was gonna download it but i dont think i like this .... gonna play donkey kong returns now instead : )
Technically magnificent, but with its share of frustrating gameplay elements: many cheap deaths by pitfalls, plenty of occasions even early on when perfect jumps and perfect timing were necessary to progress, few places where you could actually use the impressive full speed run without missing bonuses (or hitting pitfalls), and instant enemy respawning. Such difficulty might have been more bearable without a multiload: so often the bane of the system. Still a very impressive swansong.
I never gave this game a chance because I couldn't figure out what to do and I excused it as a crap game. Now that I've watched this video, it looks really, REALLY fun.
I really want to play with it but I don't know how to start it! I do not have joystick and I have laptop keyboard so there is no Numlock etc. How do I start that damn game?! I played with it with a real old C64 when I was 4 years old and I'm really mad I can't get start it!! :@
@VoldyGirl89 You could pick up a joystick from Maplin for around £10 and then download a free program called Joy2Key, it lets you program in the buttons you need to play it... Space key and enter key should be all you need to start it
This was the best C64 game ever created. It had everything, great graphics, superb level design, great and challenging gameplay (it was VERY hard to beat this game, especially the last level Rockland), superb music... it was virtually without any faults.
Never played this, but it looks really impressive. Never thought the c64 could squeeze out graphics like that. Smooth animations, lots of detail.. hell, it almost looks like a snes game.
The Commodore Format demos were where I played this awesome game too. This is one of the C64's best and I wish I'd had the full version. But those were the days when my parents were forced to choose between games and food.
Hey you're pretty good at that! I only ever managed to play the Commodore Format demos of Mayhem in Monsterland and never managed to get hold of the full version :(
The C64 rocked, if only I was born 10 years earlier!
For those familiar with the technical limitations of the C64, Mayhem was simply astounding - the graphics amazing but just check out the level design, the speedy scrolling, gameplay that was anything but simplistic....and on top of that we got music AND (excellent) sound FX.
Apex rarely got the credit they deserved for producing superb games that pushed the 64 to its absolute limit...and their music was brilliant....and also criminally overlooked if you check out the official Top 100 C64 SIDs.
wow i just love sound and graphics. did not know the c64 was able to do that

The Apex brothers had a terrific knack of making awesome basslines.
