You should NEVER feed a dog where it is supposed to eliminate! This is why they naturally never eliminate in their own kennel space! You will and are confusing them! Get their attention with a toy NOT food! <3
haha - thanks for the comments guys! frankie is a maltipoo - super well trained at this point. our vet advised us to do this method before all his shots were done, b/c of where we live. i hated using the wee wee pads, but once we could walk him outside, he made the transition perfectly. he's super smart!
Do not use those pads. All you are doing is training your dog to piss and crap inside and you will never get them to do it outside. Get off your lazy butts and take your dogs outside to go or your house will become a dog toilet until the dog drops dead.
I can't believe you say potty to the dog surely wee would do.. I never had any problems training our dogs and never once used a training pad.. every time they go to wee stick them outside and say Wee it doesn't take them long at all
I don't think you can force them to go potty. Wait till you see them and at an instant grab the pup and move him to the pad. With that scent the pup should recognized the potty space and don't forget to praise and give a treat.
LOL he hasn't got a clue... I say good luck to anyone who trains their dog to use a puppy pad - you are just teaching them it's cool to toilet indoors (I understand you might not have a choice if you live in an apartment, that's different!).
