"Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."
who cares. why is this important with the US losing trillions of dollars in the past few weeks??? grow up. It's time to unite and get back to prosperity not to divide. you must be a republican.
"Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."
Haha. Fallacy of diversion or changing the subject. Then the fallacy of ad hominum calling the poster a "republican." Attack the messenger and not the message.
THEY DO SOUND ALIKE. YOU KNOW WHY? BECAUSE OBAMA ASKED TO USE THEM YOU DUMBFUCKS. DONT BE THROWING THAT PLAGARISM BULLSHIT. Don't believe me? That's fine just hear it from Deval patrick's own mouth
on youtube search for "Is Obama a Plagiarist? The Author Speaks."
"It's not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."I said something that everybody knows is true, which is that there are a whole bunch of folks in small towns in Pennsylvania, in towns right here in Indiana, in my hometown in Illinois, who are bitter, well you know, when you're bitter you turn to what you can count on. "Just Words"

Obama did not plagiarized folks! He quoted several famous phrases to illustrate the power of words throughout history and he made it clear he was quoting.
Unlike the first guy on the left who indeed plagiarized. To me Obama's speech is smarter than any of the shallow cliches I have heard out of Clinton.
His answers are thorough and thoghtful even to the embarrassingly shallow attacks of Clinton in particular.
Nobody knows how to turn copying the great into an advantage, I didn't know America touted virginity still, I thought the great conservatives of the world copied the greats, not INVENTED them.
If anyone can listen to Hillary change directions like she has en still vote for her, makes me wonder about the education level in the US. Oh she has plans...NO IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGIES. Read people read. First it was about education, then women en how hard it is for them, en now security of America. I am an educated professional female en am insulted she thinks she is representing me. Hmmm NO! OBAMA 2008.
Both Patrick and Obama have studied influencial leaders and expect their audiences have studied the same.
These quotes are so prevalent (U.S. Constitution, JFK, FDR, MLK Jr.) no reference is needed in the speech. I am surprised by the lack of enthusiasm in Obama's crowd.
These words could be repeated every year and I wouldn't get tired of hearing them. I hope for the "Dream" of Dr. King. I hold the truths of equality to be self-evident too.
MLK and JFK had a similar message, about a brighter future (belief in change). No one said they were copying each other.. so why now.. when two people (deval and obama) who are good friends, with a similar message and belief, its plagarism
Both Hillary and Obama made a mistake when they plagiarized parts of someone else's speech without citing the sources. Ultimately, I don't think either's plagiarism is that big of a deal though...
heh, those weren't Deval Patrick's words either--he was quoting some of the most famous lines of all time. What was Obama supposed to do, find some other greatest quotes of all time? Obama is entitled to use them too. Also, Obama did not quite use the same quotes in the same way.
Regardless, I don't find it to be any basis to slam Obama or get excited.
I find it funny that all 3 candidates talk about change, but all offer big government, big spending solutions. This is not change, its more of the same and it doesn't work.
hope for our future is too important to hand over to a con-artist like Obama. We need someone with experience and someone who has proven they know how to make changes happen (not just talk about them) Obama is a disgrace and the way that America has turned him into a God-figure is just as disgraceful.
I am a Clinton supporter but will vote McCain any day before I hand my kids future over to this clown called Obama.
For anyoe stupid enough to think he stole them line's go out to the shed and have a nice time out! If anything Obama was quoting Deval's speech for anyone smart enough to notice,no politician would/will ever get away with stealing speech's because they lose their credibility. Obama was making reference to Deval's speech.
It is always the fanatical Obama supporters who keep saying things like: so he steals other people's speeches and ideas - so what? So his supporters can't think of a thing that he's done - so what? that's their problem. So What? I still like, him, he's cool, he's hip, they made an MTV video about him. He has a great slogan (stolen from a cartoon)So what?
Keep drinking that Koo-aid guys, one of these days it is going to kill you.
Except Hillary and most politicians do this. It is common practice. There are only so many good lines and most of them have already been said. In fact, if you take a broad view of history this idea of "plagiarism" is really a new thing and only came about because of the capitalist superstructure. There is actually nothing immoral about borrowing words or ideas. It has only become such because corporations and individuals with ideas want to ensure that they alone can profit from those ideas.
People on BOTH (yes BOTH) sides need to f*cking chill out.... neither campaign is doing the Democratic Party any favors with this snide sh*t... once we have a nominee we ALL have to get behind that person WHOEVER it is, so supporters on both sides should get a grip and stop the divisive and derisive bullsh*t!
If we as Democrats don't grow the f*ck up, we can lose to the Repugnicans... and THAT is much MUCH worse than anything that Hillary or Obama can say about each other!
So your so blinded by wanting just any Democrat in office! How ignorant can one be? Look at what AMERICA is needing and pick the best man for the job! talk about divisive and derisive bull? practice what your preaching.
So I want just ANY Democrat in office? Where did you get that? I happen to think that either Obama or Clinton would be what is best for AMERICA, and McCain would serve neither us nor the country well.
You think it's ignorant to find value in what both of the Democrats have to say and offer on their separate platforms? That only points to your own narrow ignorance! I practice exactly what I preach, thank you.
Designck, You wrote: "neither campaign is doing the Democratic Party any favors with this snide sh*t... " Obviously your so one sided and only wanting to shove a democratic in office. The idea of opening our borders is the most non-american idea we can support! Furthermore, have you really research the national healthcare plan they are supporting! Yea, everyone may have it, but it is welfare healthcare for all middle and lower class! What if someone has cancer? Do you think of that?
Yes, Groovegal, don't think me so shallow that I would not examine all the platforms and proposals, we are just simply on the opposite side of the idealogical spectrum from each other...you are obviously a committed Republican and I am a Democrat. I don't believe that Republicans are the right direction for the country, you do. No point in debating. Nothing you say can win me over to the GOP and I am sure nothing I say will sway you. It is what it is. So, in November, may the best Democrat win!
Obama's rival Hillary Clinton accused Obama of plagiarism for lifting a portion of a speech Patrick made during his 2006 Massachusetts campaign for use in his Wisconsin primary stump speech.Patrick later rebuffed this accusation, stating, "I am neither surprised nor troubled that he used the words I asked him to use of my own."
If you are intelligent as your handle implies then you would know how to actually spell intelligent!
Plagiarism is wrong! He preaches that we are wanting a change which change usually is meant to be new and inventive idea's. Plagiarism is stealing from historical voices and that is the past regurgitated!
You desperate Hillary supporters are miserable! But I cant blame you, I guess when your desperate your desperate and when your up against the best I guess you have to try to coalesce petty charges in the hope that people will stop thinking about I dont know, THE WAR, THE ECONOMY, HEALTHCARE!!
VOTE FOR OBAMA TO END THIS TYPE OF WORTHLESS UNEDIFYING BATTLE OVER NOTHING.
WHAT WAS SOMETHING WAS HILLARYS VOTE FOR THE WAR. THAT WASN'T ABOUT WORDS, IT WAS ABOUT LIVES!
Uh, if the only thing Obama has going for him are his great speeches, why does he PLAGIARIZE to get his point across?
And also, why don't you go do some studying on Hillary's vote for the war? She, along with basically everyone that was in Congress at the time, was lied to by the Bush administration when they told everyone we were going over there because of Weapons of Mass Destruction & terrorism, which is a good reason to go: that is why she voted for it. But obviously, her views have changed
She didn't read the information packet about Iraq. She's a stupid bitch who didn't do her research and still declared Iraq had WMDs. Obama was not tricked. He freakin' told the future in 2002.
By your comment I initially thought you might have been a Hillary supporter. But thanks for showing me your not by clearly stating that Hillarys position on the war has flip flopped. Thank you for pointing out that she along with basically everyone in congress failed to make the right decision while Obama had the wisdom and sound knowledge to make the right decision. Thank you for rightfully isolating Obama as a leader and grouping Hillary with the rest of the politicians in congress. Thank you!
obama didn't even vote, period. See that is the lie that is spreading. Obama said he never voted for the war, but he never had a chance to. In 2004 he exclaimed about going to war but he needs more American "intelligence." He took the speech away from his website. Then later he actually VOTED to FUND the war, which a lot of people see to not notice. I dont mind Obama but there is so much people making it out to be that he is perfect.
To state the facts, Obama was adamantly against this war. He made speeches openly condemning this war and everybody who pays a lick of their time to politics knows he was against this war when the overwhelming majority of congress voted for it, including senator Clinton. Now you are right that he voted to fund this war. With troops on the ground and lives at stake it would be UnAmerican to not aid our troops in their assigned mission. Obama constantly displays sound judgement on important issues
Funding the war is promoting the war. He is too chicken shit to NOT vote for more funding. This is because he is a political whore. (His favorite vote is "present" because he doesn't want to take sides.) He needs some real balls like Ron Paul, Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich. Obama is a BSer. Politics as usual with darker skin. Don't be fooled by the charisma!!
While I appreciate your passion against this war, I profoundly disagree with the notion that Obamas vote to fund this war expressed support for this war. I think we all know without question that Obama is Obviously against this war, the reason he voted to fund this war is because that was the right thing to do. Think about it, would you want someone in your family fighting a war in which they were not properly funded from the government that put them there in the first place? My point exactly.
It doesn't matter if he had permission (which I believe was only given after the fact) Obama misrepresented himself as the original voice, the real deal of which he is most decidedly not.
This is a weak attempt to "get" Obama. "Oh, everything that comes out of his mouth isn't 100% spontaneous." "Oh, he's using things that a friend of his said." Please. You really think McCain came up with "straight talk" on his own? You think Hilary writes her own speeches?
hillary is getting so desperate, hanging by that thread. deval patrick said he could use his words, and denied all accusations that obama had plagiarized off of him. all clinton is doing is tearing the democratic party apart, practically handing mccain the presidency.
Devil Patrick admitted that he talked with obama and suggested that he use these lines. Patrick dismissed any allegations of plagiarism. Period. This claim is dubious. Do some research guys.
another bullshit speech by Obama tonight. He identified roughly a million things that he is going to change and yet once again did not tell us one thing about HOW these "changes" will happen. Wake up America, if this guy gets voted in we'll have to change our name to Obamanation.
You got him...Obama stole this speech. What an asshole.
Are you guys insane? Deval Patrick does not get the copyright on "We hold these truths" and "I have a dream."
He's not the only one who gets to say that words matter. Anyone will quote those phrases when they talk about the power of words. Everything we say every day has been said before. Everything. Stop acting like a catch phrase was only born once.
Oh, what a scandal! I can't believe that Obama wasn't the first politician to use some of the most well-known and inspirational phrases in American history! And that he spoke on the same topic, of the power of words? The man must obviously be corrupt.
End sarcasm, for those of you who didn't pick up on it. I'm not sure what this video is trying to accomplish, except try and slander the name of an amazing public speaker as plagiarist. I'd say it was pretty transparent and under-handed.
The so what of copying is that Obama's ENTIRE campaign is based on his words. If we don't know where his words come from, if we can't believe they are his, then we must discount them. If we discount Obama's words, we are left with nothing, absolutely nothing.
Obama is the one who inspired and encouraged Patrick to run for governor in 2006 (see /watch?v=frPZmyVhXZA for more on this).
Following Obama's example, Patrick's message in that contest largely resembled Obama's campaign for the Senate back in 2003-04. Anything wrong with that?
Hillary Clinton is such an unethical, shallow, characterless, and disgusting individual. These juvenile tactics are pathetic and demean our entire political system. How someone can be so caniving and disingenuous is beyond me.
This is sure to be an election clincher for Hillary!
Sure, because of her horrific judgement there have been over one million innocent people slaughtered in Iraq, BUT Obama said something that someone else said!! OUTRAGEOUS!! Go Hillary!
Obama comes off as a car salesman that will sell me a lemon at a used dealership with no warranty... the lies, fake smiles, the suit, but a lot of talk that don't mean piss at the end.
When Barack Hussein Obama was running for the U.S. Senator of Illinois he was being interviewed and he said he had absolutely not intention of running for President of the United States. So far for the entire term of his office he has spent less time doing the job he was hire to do by the voters of Illinois instead he has been doing what he said he was not going to do run for president.
Obama's entire campaign was his rhetoric. Now we see it wasn't even his own. He can't support his rhetoric with substance. I will not vote for him. He is just a puppet in a suit trying to win a popularity contest with catchy gimmicks. NOBAMA YOU CAN'T BRING CHANGE WHEN YOU CAN'T EVEN USE YOUR OWN IDEAS IN YOUR SPEECHES! HE'LL BRING MORE LIES AND BETRAYAL! Patrick Deval won and became governor of Massachussettes, did a piss poor job and that's why Massachussettes DID NOT VOTE for that FAKE.NOBAMA!
HAHAHA! Hillary is so desperate. Politicians have speech writers. Barack's are exceptional and he was given permission to use parts of that speech from Deval. On the other hand, I've seen Hillary plagiarize directly from Barack.
The more people see of her, the less they like her. Obama continues to grow on people.
Yeah, it doesn't matter if you hold yourself out to be the arbiter of change, the squeaky clean messiah who will dash the dirty deeds of Washington insiders, bring hope and prosperity. It doesn't matter if the words you use are someone else's and you hold them out to be your own. After all, plagairized and un-original rhetoric is okay as long as it doesn't make people question who you really are and what you will really do! Most sheeple won't!
but she HAS done amazing things. Whoppy Obama wrote a book or two on speeches he most likely stole anyway. Anyway, you can argue it left, right, argue it UPSIDE DOWN if you must, but Obama is not an experience leader. He is still wet behind the ears and giving him the power over the US would be like the senate granting immediate emergency powers to George Bush. Bad Bad Thing.
WHAT has she done!? There are entire web pages on all of her accomplishments ALONE. Then this, Obama rises out of no where with not a clue to where he was going. He has no idea how to run a country, and IF he is so good at writing speeches perhaps he should have written his own instead of stealing one!
Seriously? What about "fired up, ready to go", uttered by Clinton just a while ago? What about "we're ready to change", a phrase from Obama and used by Clinton shamelessly again? Obama has written two bestsellers, all of his speeches. What did Clinton do?
You are whats wrong with America, truly pathetic. The fact that you are so energized by this bullshit slogan rhetoric and not hard policy discussion on issues is sad, you don't even realize choosing between Obama or Clinton is Coke or Pepsi.
well he is a politician after all. To be a politician, you have to be ruthless and also plagiarise a lot and be a good actor. To expect a politician to be honest is too much expectation
Isn't it a little ironic that the said "plagiarized" quote is a COLLECTION of famouse quotes? Can't believe this is the talk of the town. Sorry to say, Obama's biggest weakness is people love him. His celebrity is going to prove challenging sooner or later. This generation of Americans = First they love you, then they hate you.
Just because obama had "permission" it is still plagiarizing because he did not cite his sources. He used it as his own without letting people know the truth.
wow guys... stop the yelling he had permission to use the speech, i know a black president is a scary thing for you to imagine, but (and this is coming from a white irish guy) we need this guy. we need change.
Mr Obama is running on the strength of his rhetoric and the strength of his promises and, as we have seen in the past couple of days, he's breaking his promises and the rhetoric isn't his even own.
The LAST thing we need is another disappointing president.
The other poster is correct, the governor shared his speech with Obama. There is an article in the NYT about it. It is not dishonest or plagerism. It's just another BS, lying accusation.
Obama just announced he will deliver his "I Have a Dream Speech" on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial right after he gives his Address at Gettysburg. Tomorrow he says he's going to write the Declaration of Independence.
Somebody please put a video up here of Hillary voting for the Iraq war, so we can talk about something real. Clinton's people spent an hour talking with the press about this today? Don't they have anything better to do? This is pathetic, desperate, despicable.
He had permission to use these words. We've seen through two books that Obama is an excellent writer with excellent ideas. This is no different from ghostwriting or having speech writers, which most politicians do. Get over it. Obama's going to win.
They are trying to swift boat Obama, as Kerry was. To the Hillary supporters, do you actually think the Obama supporters are going to vote for Hillary if she wins? No, what will happen is they will either vote for John McCain, or just not vote at all. Also Hillary is not going to have her latino vote, John McCain is loved by latinos. What happens if they African Americans switch to him. Good luck!
OF COURSE Deval would say that he endorsed obama, its his political reputation on the line. the fact of the matter is Obama took them AS HIS OWN never referencing Patrick in the speech THATS PLAGIARISM.
second, think before you make a statement
Hillary voted for the war, yes, but so did 76 other senators...
Hillary gives speeches that her writers wrote without crediting them, is that plagiarism?
I recommend you watch this video to hear what Hillary was saying at the time of the Iraq resolution and what Obama was saying at the time (even though he wasn't a senator) watch?v=5fUa5Bw2oiw
And yes, I know Edwards, Dodd and Biden all voted in favor, and I wouldn't vote for any of them either.
If we follow some one because he/she is a good orator or becuase of his/her race than we should count ourselves out and give the presidency to the republicans. Hitler was a good orator and look at the mess he created. Obama said he wants to lower the health plan so that the majority of the people can get a health plan but this is ony going to margynalized the poor (a lot of the poors in tha USA are blacks).
I agree that it would be tremendously foolish to support a candidate based on race, gender, or any other thing besides their Character, leadership ability, and their ability to lead this country down a path that is conducive to everyones overall well being. This being said, i assume that you, after looking at my page concluded I was black. Whether that is true is Irrelevant, I can be green. The bottom line is I, along with many, support Obama because he has the Character to revive this nation!
How can we in good conscious vote for a man that uses someone else's words. He should at least have the decency to acknoledged he is good at using talking point and nothing else
"Sen. Obama and I are long-time friends and allies. We often share ideas about politics, policy and language. The argument in question, on the value of words in the public square, is one about which he and I have spoken frequently before. Given the recent attacks from Sen. Clinton, I applaud him responding in just the way he did."
Too bad there aren't any original presidential candidates running this time, *RON PAUL! cough cough. Come on people. I've read through both Hillary's and Obama's website about all their plans and promises. They talk about change? Change? Only thing they're changing is either race or gender of the leader of America. Too bad Americans are more into superficial stuff like that than real change, which can be achieved by following the constitution. It was written for a reason. - Concerned foreigner
Ron Paul is either a racist piece of shit or is so incredibly incompetent that he hires a ton of racists to write for his newsletter and then stamps his name on whatever they wrote because he was too busy worrying about THE GOLD STANDARD to read it.
Either way, he shouldn't be (and thankfully never will be) the President.
Next they are going to say that Deval Patrick copied MLK, Kennedy, Roosevelt, and the Declaration of Independence by quoting them without attibution! This is beyond stupid. In fact, it reinforces Obama's message! These are not just words! They are powerful! This is the kind of president we can have! One who inspires!
Gov. Deval Patrick is a great friend of Obama and he told him he can use that line. So, not a big deal. Get over it. Infact, Hillary stole Obama words so many times in her speeches such as "fired up" and "time for change" tell the blond witch to come up with her own words in that case.
Barrack Obama's is sponsoring the "Global Poverty Act" In it, America will pay out to third world countries $845 BILLON more than they ALREADY are doing so now! None of that $ is used in America to help our poor! This bill also would eliminate small arms and light weapons. USA as a part of this Bill would have to hand over all jurisdiction and right to fair trial of any and all US Servicemen abroad if any of them were to be accused of a crime
And he'll get us out of Iraq instead of keeping us there for 10,000 years like McCain wants to. I'm pretty sure that'll offset the cost but by all means, don't let anything as silly as "the truth" or "researching your points" get in the way of your "GUL DURNIT THEY'RE A-GONNA TAKE ALL MAH GUNS" right wing nutjob conspiracies.
The joke is on the people criticizing Obama for this "plagiarism"! Sure seems like a lot of good press to me! I'll listen to that speech all day long; I hope the news stations keep playing it. The message is what is important! The Clinton Camp should stick to the issues, because "this dog won't hunt!" Oops...
When a man can't even write his own speech without plagiarizing, that puts a lot into question what he has to offer? NOTHING.
He's a good motivational speaker provided he has library of speeches he can plagiarize from those who come before him. He should have give credit where credit is due instead of making it his own. Many college students were kicked out from University they've attended because of plagiarism. Biden lost his bid because of plagiarism. His drug use was bad enough, now this!
For someone who has just made comments regarding words and their importance, you'd think 1)he'd come up with his own, and 2)if he did "borrow" words from another speech, he'd at least give credit where it is due.
While not the biggest issue at hand in this Democratic race, it may be a harbinger of the Obama people don't yet know about...
Washinton Post article states: "It should be noted that Patrick and Obama are close friends, and that Obama strategist David Axelrod helped run Patrick's 2006 campaign for Massachusetts governor. Patrick tells the New York Times that he shared the language of his 2006 speech with Obama's speechwriters, and did not believe Obama should give him credit for the statement."
As Hillary plagiarised from Obama in an Iowa speech: Fired up and ready to go!
The clinton campaign is pointing out that Obama operates on pure emotion and his ability to speak. I have heard nothing but yes we can and si se puede... but not any actual plans on change. and im even sure whether or not im going to vot for Barack Hussein Obama or Hilary Rhodam Clinton.
Is this all that Hillary's campaign can come up with? She will lose in WI and Obama will get more delegates in TX. I look forward to her concession speech.
hmmmmm... how can I say this so you will understand? It's still plagiarism YOU STUPID MORONS. Plagiarism is about presenting someone else's ideas as your own... permission has NOTHING to do with it. A friggin high school student knows that. "Oh, it's okay Mrs. Hoover; my big brother gave me permission to copy his paper from last year." AARRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!!
Yeah because running a Presidential race is EXACTLY the same as a High School term paper. Exactly. It is literally exactly the fucking same. It is in no way different. There are not at all different expectations for PEOPLE RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT and KIDS IN HIGHSCHOOL. They are one in the same.
Good job, gumshoe. You've blown the lid off of this caper!
I think he did it on purpose so that it would be obvious of her plagiarism to Obama. In recent weeks Clinton sounds exactly like him. She is basically slipping poison to herself. It was a smart move by Obama. Check out Clinton Plagiarism of Tom Cruise on you tube-
My comment, awfulvision, was not directed at Obama. It was directed at the IDIOTS posting here who keep saying that because Patrick gave Obama permission to use his words, it is therefore not plagiarism. I mean, seriously, how stupid do you have to be to confuse copyright law with plagiarism? On the up side, I love your suggestion that the expectations for people running for president are lower than those for high school students. It's very helpful to see where the Obama fans are coming from.
Hey blind eye. Put down the Kool Aid and wash out your mouth with soap. Unless of course, you have no morals and you hate your country like Mrs. Obama.
Please please people calm down. You have to be able to read and process information and to understand the word and concept of plagerism. All they can chat and understand is YES WE CAN
You have to admit that Patrick's charisma is much better than Obama's. This wasn't plagerism gang. This was addressing the same topic the same way. Quotes are not plagerism, not even in the same order and the 'just words' line is a must when fighting a 'just words' complaint.
Gov. Deval Patrick (02/17): "Senator Obama and I are long-time friends and allies. We often share ideas about politics, policy and language," Patrick said in the statement. "The argument in question, on the value of words in the public square, is one about which he and I have spoken frequently before. Given the recent attacks from Senator Clinton, I applaud him responding in just the way he did."
So the Clinton campaign plagiarized Kerry Healey's attack on Deval Patrick (the black governor of Massachusetts)that his campaign was "just words" and used the same complaint against Barack Obama (the black senator from Illinois), then has the chutzpah to accuse Obama of plagiarizing Patrick's response?
This is also the same Hillary Clinton who claimed Martin Luther King, Jr. only offered words, and that it took a white President, Lyndon Johnson, to enact a civil rights bill.
k4ese, your idea about comparing Patrick and Obama's speeches side-by-side is PLAGIARISM of this video! Did you ask chrisoh7's approval before posting that? Talk about recycled rhetoric. Oops, sorry -- I just plagiarized your term there, and I didn't ask. Hey, let's make a video comparing your comments with my comments so you can whine about what a plagiarist I am.
Jacques, you're an idiot. Plagiarism is when you present someone else's ideas or words as your own. You're thinking of copyright infringement... of course, this wouldn't apply either, since chrisoh7 cannot possibly hold copyright on this video, seeing that it is comprised of two videos neither of which were created by chrisoh7 but are available for legal use because of "fair use" laws. Also, when you acknowledge you've used k4's term, it ceases to be plagiarism. Permission is not required.
jeremyemilio, by your definition, Clinton and McCain have both "plagiarized" Obama (McCain on 2/12: "Fired up and ready to go"; Clinton numerous phrases & occasions).
Politicians do this constantly. This whole "controversy" is a red herring used by a desperate Clinton to rescue her faltering campaign.
As for my comment, allow this "idiot" to teach you a new concept: "sarcasm". It's especially useful for whipping know-it-alls with a stick up their ass into a nice rabid lather.
You people are tools if you believe anyone of these candidates are using their own words 100% of the time They get inspiration from other people just like we do. At least Obama asked, unlike Hillary when she plagiarized Kerry Healey.
If I'm Hillary's campaign, I'd shoot a tv commercial cutting back and forth from Patrick to Obama showing their identical/similar signs, their speeches etc. and state, "True Obama is a good speaker, but are his words really his?"
Today's NY Times piece fails to emphasize that this speech isn't the only Obama plagiarism. Patrick's campaign signs read "Together We Can"-Obama's: "Yes We Can". Patrick constantly talked about "Hope" and so does Obama. Patrick has said "We are the ones we've been waiting for" and "Disagree without being disagreeable" and "we are not red/blue states but United States"..etc.. IMHO Obama's "authenticity" is recycled rhetoric authored by David Axelrod - campaign mgr for both Patrick and Obama.
Its CHANGE. For the worse.

Haha. Fallacy of diversion or changing the subject. Then the fallacy of ad hominum calling the poster a "republican." Attack the messenger and not the message.
Such fallacies work on weak minded people.

I'm energized when I hear Obama speak.

MLK and JFK had a similar message, about a brighter future (belief in change). No one said they were copying each other.. so why now.. when two people (deval and obama) who are good friends, with a similar message and belief, its plagarism

If we as Democrats don't grow the f*ck up, we can lose to the Repugnicans... and THAT is much MUCH worse than anything that Hillary or Obama can say about each other!
designck 4 years ago
So your so blinded by wanting just any Democrat in office! How ignorant can one be? Look at what AMERICA is needing and pick the best man for the job! talk about divisive and derisive bull? practice what your preaching.

So I want just ANY Democrat in office? Where did you get that? I happen to think that either Obama or Clinton would be what is best for AMERICA, and McCain would serve neither us nor the country well.
You think it's ignorant to find value in what both of the Democrats have to say and offer on their separate platforms? That only points to your own narrow ignorance! I practice exactly what I preach, thank you.
designck 4 years ago
Designck, You wrote: "neither campaign is doing the Democratic Party any favors with this snide sh*t... " Obviously your so one sided and only wanting to shove a democratic in office. The idea of opening our borders is the most non-american idea we can support! Furthermore, have you really research the national healthcare plan they are supporting! Yea, everyone may have it, but it is welfare healthcare for all middle and lower class! What if someone has cancer? Do you think of that?
groovgal 4 years ago
Yes, Groovegal, don't think me so shallow that I would not examine all the platforms and proposals, we are just simply on the opposite side of the idealogical spectrum from each other...you are obviously a committed Republican and I am a Democrat. It is what it is. So, in November, may the best Democrat win!

Thank you!
Americanguy7 4 years ago
obama didn't even vote, period. I dont mind Obama but there is so much people making it out to be that he is perfect.
lea210 4 years ago
To state the facts, Obama was adamantly against this war. He made speeches openly condemning this war and everybody who pays a lick of their time to politics knows he was against this war when the overwhelming majority of congress voted for it, including senator Clinton. Now you are right that he voted to fund this war. With troops on the ground and lives at stake it would be UnAmerican to not aid our troops in their assigned mission. Obama constantly displays sound judgement on important issues
Americanguy7 4 years ago
Funding the war is promoting the war. He is too chicken shit to NOT vote for more funding. This is because he is a political whore. (His favorite vote is "present" because he doesn't want to take sides.) He needs some real balls like Ron Paul, Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich. Obama is a BSer. Politics as usual with darker skin. Don't be fooled by the charisma!!
ElKabong61 4 years ago
While I appreciate your passion against this war, I profoundly disagree with the notion that Obamas vote to fund this war expressed support for this war. I think we all know without question that Obama is Obviously against this war, the reason he voted to fund this war is because that was the right thing to do. Think about it, would you want someone in your family fighting a war in which they were not properly funded from the government that put them there in the first place? My point exactly.
Americanguy7 4 years ago
It doesn't matter if he had permission (which I believe was only given after the fact) Obama misrepresented himself as the original voice, the real deal of which he is most decidedly not.

Jeez, this just really reeks of desperation on the part of Hillary's campaign people. Is this really what they've been reduced to?

He can't even write an original speech.
aurayon 4 years ago
You realize he had permission to use that line, right?
And that Hillary didn't have permission to use Obama's lines that she steals all the time, right?

Next they are going to say that Deval Patrick copied MLK, Kennedy, Roosevelt, and the Declaration of Independence by quoting them without attibution! This is beyond stupid. In fact, it reinforces Obama's message! These are not just words! They are powerful! This is the kind of president we can have! One who inspires!
skarefamena 4 years ago 3
Gov. Deval Patrick is a great friend of Obama and he told him he can use that line. So, not a big deal. Get over it. Infact, Hillary stole Obama words so many times in her speeches such as "fired up" and "time for change" tell the blond witch to come up with her own words in that case.
Go Obama! Obama 2008!

His drug use was bad enough, now this!
giantroo 4 years ago
Not defending Hillary, but...

Hillary is using dirty Rovian-like politics!

Since Davel Patrick endorsed Obama, he wanted to wipe his ass. No wonder at all. Too bad it didn't happen to Joe Biden in 1988.

Deval Patrick? Isn't he a superdelegate who will be voting for Obama?

Obama is now saying he should have given credit to Gov. Patrick. He is so screwed. Oh well, CHEATERS never win.

Hoover; my big brother gave me permission to copy his paper from last year." AARRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!!
jeremyemilio 4 years ago
Yeah because running a Presidential race is EXACTLY the same as a High School term paper. Exactly. It is literally exactly the fucking same. It is in no way different. There are not at all different expectations for PEOPLE RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT and KIDS IN HIGHSCHOOL. They are one in the same.
Good job, gumshoe. You've blown the lid off of this caper!
AwfulVision 4 years ago
I think he did it on purpose so that it would be obvious of her plagiarism to Obama. In recent weeks Clinton sounds exactly like him. She is basically slipping poison to herself. It was a smart move by Obama. Check out Clinton Plagiarism of Tom Cruise on you tube-
It is good politics- go Obama. go!!!

All they can chat and understand is YES WE CAN
IndyRLM 4 years ago
You have to admit that Patrick's charisma is much better than Obama's. This wasn't plagerism gang. This was addressing the same topic the same way. Quotes are not plagerism, not even in the same order and the 'just words' line is a must when fighting a 'just words' complaint.

Gov. Deval Patrick (02/17): "Senator Obama and I are long-time friends and allies. We often share ideas about politics, policy and language," Patrick said in the statement. "The argument in question, on the value of words in the public square, is one about which he and I have spoken frequently before. Given the recent attacks from Senator Clinton, I applaud him responding in just the way he did."
itapua 4 years ago

JacquesThis 4 years ago
Jacques, you're an idiot. Plagiarism is when you present someone else's ideas or words as your own. You're thinking of copyright infringement... of course, this wouldn't apply either, since chrisoh7 cannot possibly hold copyright on this video, seeing that it is comprised of two videos neither of which were created by chrisoh7 but are available for legal use because of "fair use" laws. Also, when you acknowledge you've used k4's term, it ceases to be plagiarism. Permission is not required.
jeremyemilio 4 years ago
jeremyemilio, by your definition, Clinton and McCain have both "plagiarized" Obama (McCain on 2/12: "Fired up and ready to go"; Clinton numerous phrases & occasions).

Dear JacquesThis,
It's still plagiarism and I still think you're stupid.
Sincerely,

You people are tools if you believe anyone of these candidates are using their own words 100% of the time They get inspiration from other people just like we do. At least Obama asked, unlike Hillary when she plagiarized Kerry Healey.

If I'm Hillary's campaign, I'd shoot a tv commercial cutting back and forth from Patrick to Obama showing their identical/similar signs, their speeches etc. and state, "True Obama is a good speaker, but are his words really his?"
k4ese 4 years ago
agreed
sirrom2 4 years ago
Today's NY Times piece fails to emphasize that this speech isn't the only Obama plagiarism. Patrick's campaign signs read "Together We Can"-Obama's: "Yes We Can". Patrick constantly talked about "Hope" and so does Obama. Patrick has said "We are the ones we've been waiting for" and "Disagree without being disagreeable" and "we are not red/blue states but United States"..etc.. IMHO Obama's "authenticity" is recycled rhetoric authored by David Axelrod - campaign mgr for both Patrick and Obama.
