If my interpretation is correct about this song being a lament about getting used and abused by LSD (the night symbolizing LSD), then this voice at the end of the song would sort of be the voice of LSD mockingly saying, "Yeah, this was a diver!" as in, "He thought he was some psychonaut who could take me on. Ha!" I'm actually in the process of writing a book about Dio's lyrics as a metaphor for LSD.

@cwulff1 It is indeed backwards - it says "we are the crucified". how do I know- I got this album when it came out (only on vinyl, cds weren't common yet) and got the speed control stuck between 33 and 45, which allowed me to manually spin the album backward and hear what he's saying. Can't do that with a cd! (Though you can use audacity and other audio editors to play songs backward)

You have to get the speed control stuck between 33 and 45, or at least that's how I did it (not all turntables can do that). It did not do noticeable damage to try it few times (As far as I remember, I did it when the album was new in 1983...)

2. The "devil horns" are really a sign used to ward off evil.
