  • How can you say it's the best game conversion if you haven't played the arcade version? LOL anyway FYI, it is the best conversion, but you can't compare it to Turbo outrun, being the original was a testarossa and T,O. was an F40, and also the gameplay/graphics really were shite on the sequal! even more so on the Megadrive/Genesis, but otherwise good upload :)

  • The grafx is much better, but the framrate is the same as on C64 :P

If you want to see smooth and nice Outrun conversion, look out for a Dreamcast!

  • Not to be up my own arse on anything but those pillars have gaps rather than there appearing to be a glitch at that point

  • Gear down if you find yourself in a troubling predicament.

  • your right mate outrun actually got ported to to the gba

  • Not the first Outrun game though, that was crap on AMIGA.

  • AMIGA was supposted to be good on this game.

  • Cracking stuff... really enjoyed the vid. Do the compilation review please, never seen it before.

  • i have this game but it's not compatible with my saturn :(

  • @masteriansun buy a converter cartridge (if you havnt all ready)

  • @jr2nd thanks but its the japanese version and i have a japanese saturn and it still doesn't work.

  • @masteriansun weird... it should O.o looks like a CD problem, if it playes other games then its the CD

  • The music makes you want to play more.

  • Looks awesome! I like this port. Arcade quality port.. I think i need to get a Saturn soon..

  • I have this for the Atari St. Only version i've ever played but loved it.

  • I played this game on the Sega Genesis/Megadrive. I'm actually uploading some interactive videos of them now (choose left or right). Didn't know there was a Saturn version, looks really pretty.

  • Nice game, my favourite port of outrun.

I bought it recently just because of the gorgeus boxart the japanese release had

  • Yes I'll keep my out for a Jap one on the forums... seen a UK one in one of my local retro store for £25 which I thought was reasonable...

  • Might seem like a bargain but the games really do suffer in PAL.

  • I'll take a look on RGF and see if anyone is selling a Jap one :)

  • Give the sega saturn UK site/forum a whirl. Thats where I picked up my Jap one :)

  • Looks fantastic matey - nice and smooth...

I've had a Saturn on my 'wants' list for a while now - kind of inspires me to move it up the list... lol

  • Go for a Jap console if you can. Lovely full screen and fastest of the bunch.

  • Colour me jealous; I would have loved a home console version of Outrun back in the day; I guess it's my fault for taking the PlayStation route... :P

  • Have you played the latest outrun title (Outrun Online Arcade)?

I'm really digging the score screen tune, so relaxing, lol.

  • Fraid not. Don't think I've been near the Outrun games since the original Xbox days.

  • It's basically a port of the arcade Outrun 2 SP (very similar to Outrun 2 on XBOX, but with new tracks and more forgiving collisions) with online racing. The main improvement being the HD visuals and silky smooth frame rate. If you're an Outrun fan with a PS3 or XBOX360, it's a must-have.

This Saturn version is very faithful to the arcade, any experts out there see any discrepancies?
