  • good video, im 15 and although i think teens can get discriminated against and we are just a product of society, the riots were still horrific . loads of people were just doing it to be cool, if your bored join a club, go to a friends house, start your own campaign for something to be built, do homework, get a job

if you just blame others you will get nowhere , make things happen for yourselves, at the end of the day theres only one person that can change your life and thats YOU

  • if we do summing bad its coz we are friggen bored, build somewhere for us to go, forget the roads and planting flowers build a place for us to hang out.

  • best vadio

    keep it up

    bro

    best one of my favourite

  • I agree with pretty much all that is said in this video. So then I showed it to my mum. This is what she said: "I know all his. There is nothing there that hasn't been said every generation. It's all a load of rubbish." and: "I know that all these teenagers end up pregnant, just to get the benifits for 16years" and: "If I saw a gang I'd be scared, but it was like that 30 yrs ago -it hasn't changed" "most people do care, and take notice, only a few don't"

    continued in reply...

  • i think there's alot of things that are said in here that i agree with. There is alot of corruption and lies around us, and the government have stopped caring, not just for teenagers, but the whole of the UK. Teenagers have been labelled because of their actions, i'm a teen, and i am fed up with everyone looking at me, as if to say, i'll hurt someone, but i can understand where these teenagers are coming from. But i think this video is inspiring for anyone who watches it. Great video. 10/10.

  • A mirror?

  • btw i'm not talking 2 everyone only certain people so don't take offence if u haven't done anything.

  • this is inspiring.

  • 15:50 he looks like 45

  • Well after the elections you can guarantee that there will be less money spent on helping young people.

  • haha deffo what with torries slashing funding to education and what not etc

  • Oh shut up and eat your bloody sprouts.

  • that guy at 6:00 is wearing tiduses logo from FFX

  • @cooolsimon282 Haha Thats right I am xD

I got it from the anime expo in london. I was wondering how long it would take for someone to notice :P

  • I take drugs and im 15.

  • its insane that you are so proud of it.....

  • to look hard with his /her friends

  • @RSJuggo3 ive been drinking since i was about ten.

  • back to religion + caring parents = problem solved.

  • Absolutely agreee!

  • excellent video...

there are troubled youths, but i agree that education is focused on exam results and not helping people develop into adults.

it's not just the school systems, but everything around that affects the way someone grows up, family, friends, media, politics, policing...

it takes a little bit from everyone today to succeed tomorrow.

  • I can't believe how true this is. Everything that is said is right. Usually you get things on the TV that try to portray teens and it's so stupid and just makes us look like hormonal freaks!

  • 10:16 15:55

  • This video convinces me even more that teenagers today are a generation for us older people to support and be proud of. (I am 45) When I was a teenager in the 70s and early 80s all there was then amounst us was obstinacy, rebellion, prejucide and a general contempt for our own country. Teenagers today care and think about what is right and wrong. Wearing a hoody top and trackies makes I great deal of sense. I wear the same myself. I like to have loose comfortable clothes, I assume teens do too.

  • This project was really a good idea. I hope they do something like it in America as well.

And yes, I completely agree that school is much too focused on testing and should do more to prepare us all for the real world. Because at 15 years old, I know absolutely nothing about living on my own or even about college.

  • honestly i really like this video however what do tha want us to do we cant hang out in parks because thats intimadating we cant stay at the corner shop because were intimidating we cant stay in a dark place because were selling or buying drugs and we cant stay out the way because were planning somthing what if i just wanna hang out with all my friends

  • not really 'boozeyman' erm just for people like you to stop moaning about us would be nice, that would make it much easier. I cant imagine you trying to help build a sport centre?

  • This video is a load of crap, there are countless schemes to get kids off the streets and in to education and they are all funded by the government, teenagers need to meet the government halfway and accept the help, the government is holding out a helping hand but to many kids refuse to grab it, kids just blame the government for the mess they create and their behaviour, its the oldest excuse in the world

  • You dont understand teenagers then

  • Unless u see every single teen in britain doing something bad u cant automatically judge teens and thats where the media comes in, to actually make suckers believe anything they want them to believe(Negative things.) So they pick on teenagers, i think that certain people should stop spending so much time watching their television set and open up their eyes to real world! This may come as a shock to people like u but bout 70% of teens in britain actually have their heads screwed on!!

  • No, u mean some of them, unless u see every single teen in britain doing something bad u cant automatically judge teens and thats where the media comes in, to actually make suckers believe anything they want them to believe. so they pick on teenagers, i think that certain people should stop spending so much time watching their television set and open up their eyes to real world! • "This may come as a shock to people like u but bout 70% of teens in britain actually have their heads screwed on!! "

That makes me wander what area of britain you live in.. Wales?..

  • around 9 mins - Education IS too focused on exams and it DOES need to be scrapped and made from scratch again.

  • in a way i think it may be a good thing that teens today are seen as thugs because unlike previouse generations we know that youth crime is exadurated and sensationalised by the media so we may be the first generation to get over the divide

  • i hate to blow ur bubble ...no one is changing the world ....i appreciate the effort but thats what Documentaries do ...if documentaries changed worlds people like george bush wudnt have been elected for second term...

  • Load of rubbish, how teenagers act has nothing to do the way they're "portrayed negitavley" in the media

  • What a beautiful film, full of intelligent young adults, full of heart and warmth. loved the poetry/narration.

This film strongly puts the case forward that society needs to be more integrated, and we should celebrate the positive more, and everything we gain from our different experiences and thoughts. love, peace and respect and happy new year to all you wonderful people who made this film! x

  • wow mind blowing stuff :)

well done its an insparation :) x

  • There's no 'Great Britian' Its just Britian,Nothing great about it,Young people are portrayed as monsters as thugs by the media OK so alot of teenagers are demonic n that but like there are soo many more who are genuine people,We are never given the chance to show it,people turn our backs to us and neglect to listen to our opinions and this is why things are how they are,the goverment, todays youth, the media, the whole world EVERYTHING slowly has become corrupt and it seems things are just worse

  • Well done

  • This is brilliant. I agree with everyword, especially about the freaking BMP (Those three letters are now blasphemy) Well done everyone who participated in making it

  • I hate my generation they just moan that people mistrust and a gang is a culture when in fact is just a group of petty criminals.

Most of the problems they talk about in this video they cause in the first place

  • this is pretty awesome.

  • Wow I loved this thanks alot, let's hope we get a say from now on!!

  • Please pay attention, this is the older generation here. Young people please look up Social Services and CAFCASS. You will probably have children in the future, learn NOW how they operate so that if you ever have the MISFORTUNE to fall into their hands you will be forewarned.

  • i wish i stuck in at school instead i pissed away my dizzy days with charlie and the queen.

  • I feel this video was amazing. All the teens had a good point to put across and did it in a nice, plesant way proving that teens anrt all bad. x x x

  • That is a very thoughtful film, hopefully many will watch it.

  • Why are only working class teens from poor backgrounds depicted in the media? What about all the teens from good middle class families that don't cause trouble?

  • Lots of older people believe themselves lucky that they grew up when they did, not to be facing the pressures and uncertainties confronting modern youth, even if they think that young people have too much and have been spoilt and so on, but a common theme of young and old is about being resourceful and getting on despite difficulties, about feeling worthwhile and having good mates as this film clearly shows.

  • tbh, I just think adults should listen to us.

  • it's not about how poor you are of how you live, it's about how much you care for other people. the main problem is the gangs and how some of us feel free to do as much illegal things as we can.

  • if people would just not give a dang about what guys think they woulddnt go out get drunk and have ilness get laid and have kids at the age of 15- they wouldnt be in gangs and get in trouble and fights they wouldt take drugs and overdose and they wouldnt spend their money on expensive clothes.

they need to encourage us not to care about what people think. if we didnt care what anyone thought people wouldnt be disruptive in lessons and deprive us all of our educations. peer pressure=the problem

  • 2:58 well said, I've been waiting for a long time for someone to say that! :) damn you gordan brown!

  • what is that at 10:21?

  • Great video! I mean not every young person in a hoddie has a knife or a gun!

  • parkour, helps everything!

  • I had the best time contributing to this project also seeing my brother on this video looking abit sinister is quite funny,

  • Wow how PC and multicultural *barf*

  • Wow, I think I know the girl at 0:18..

  • Talliban69: and those countires would be much worse off if it wern't for a lot of todays youth busting their backs to make a difference in the world by supporting charities and fundraising and such, which help to keep poorer countries going. It is evident you didn't actually listen to the vids messages, you sound blinded by your own prejudices. every country has its own problems, just as everyone is entitled to freedom of speech. although much of that is dulled down by the governments media.

  • lol

  • Is the first 5 seconds filmed at Southbank?

  • ITS CALLED LIFE....IM 17 AND I ACCEPT THIS

    THIS VIDEO IS EMBARRASSING

ALSO PAYING YOUTUBE (which you obv have done:339 views) TO GET TO THE TOP OF THE VIDEOS LIST IS SO CONTRADICTORY IS ABSURD.

  • i know the voiceover poem is done by kate tempest, but where can i find the poem on its own?

  • This is great for opening eyes!

  • Do any of u feel like ur being brought up to b afraid? That all other races beside white r druggies, suicide bombers, murderers, rapist, that every person u meet arond the cornr wearing a hoodie is out to get. All we hear about is teenagers getting pregnant at younger ages, joining gangs, taking drugs, achieving lower grades. Why can't they talk about all the grat things that we are doing? I have to disagree about ow much freedom we have. I don't know about you but my parents don't c 2 trust me.

  • *thumbs up*

  • what a bunch of moaning minnies, you lot live in pure luxury compared to some countries, grow up-pardon the pun

  • exactly what i thought. im a teenager you dont see bloody moaning, its life they should get over it. drama queens

  • Wooosh - idiot.

  • Id rather live in a poor country than get beaten up raped or stabbed just for the way I look.

  • Go back to sleep. It is good that the teenagers are speaking out. It might just help others understand them and maybe communication may just start to make the world we live in a better place for each and everyone of us.

  • I wud 5* This comment.

  • @Talliban69 i agree

  • Very good. It is time that people stopped picking on the youth ! It is an age old tradition, when I was a teenager (hundreds of years ago!) it was the same (despite what people tell you). Lets not just "listen" to what our teenagers are saying, let's "hear" them. L

This video proves that these kids are smart and in touch so let's work with them not against them - they are not pets, they are people !!

  • amen I cant wear some things cause people think ill be part of a gang or a junkie and if I'm just playing about with my friends they think im drunk, high or causing trouble.

  • Wow, that was a waste of time, i really hate it when people think they understand teenagers say something and automatically people beleive them, and No it not often fashion it IS gang related most of the time, oh well i live in Stevenage and that has a fairly bad reputation. What do i know?

  • i know stevenage. its not that bad. Luton's worse.

  • what a lovely film.

Prejudgement is my worst like opiniated thing if that makes sense

  • this is rediculous wt a load of crap take it on the back and if you cant you have a really big problem Racism everyone is .most gangs are influenced by adults i.e The IRA well they are all babies and cant do anything with there life and im a teenager and i dont act like a bully or a yob ppl should go cadets or scouts or something so the moral of this is

learn some discipline and TAKE A CONCRETE PILL AND MAN UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you to all who participated in this vid/project. PEACE!

  • i really dont agree with that girl at 6:57

ive been in a relationship for a year and half and have never been so happy, the last 18 months have been the best of my life

i bet if you asked her firends to give up boys they really wouldnt want to

  • I feel so proud that I got involved with this campaign.

It is amazing to understand my fellow youth's beliefs, and I hope that adults start to listen to us. Finally.

  • its not the country its the people who are in it, why carry weapons. if you fancy your self with a gun or knife join the army. its always want want want. and teens are given to much rope its about time we got back to like it was years and years ago

  • Good Video,

But at the end of the day, your never gonna please everyone.

  • whats this socialism thingyy ... ?

    xx

  • Im a teen. Its not the governments fault or anybody else's, but its the parents who bring up theses children to become acts of evil!

I feel ashamed living in my generation right now. Im a normal boy who respects the rules and positively contributes to this countries future!

No wonder old people dis-believe my generation because it has totally got out of control.

  • 8:49 - Definitely. It should be scrapped and restarted.

I'm growing up in a public school and because of this I can see the problems the school system has. It is a disgrace how obvious the problems are yet nothing is done about it at all. What is wrong with the government and their lack of sight?

Obviously they don't worry about public schools at all. They get scanned once every three years and a "satisfactory" is given with no action taken. As at 2:59, they're lazy and keep money to themselves

  • Its quite bad round my area, for gangs & stuff like that :/

But not all teenagers are gang related hoodies.

I worked in a group At the Galleries Of Justice In nottingham. we worked on a project about Teenagers. We went into town wearin hoodies and asked member of the publ how they felt about us.

  • tyrants.

  • If you ask me, if you don't want people to assosiated you with gang culture then don't give out the appearance that your in a gang

  • people object to us young people because of the way we behave and act.-and so they should, some of us knife each other, some shoot each other, some carry guns and knifes and some rape other teens, some of us acuse the goverment of "not doing enough" but it is our actions that will retreave a positive view from our elders. we need to stop this shitty behaviour and behave like a civilised person to get back the respect of our elders. only WE can put this right!

  • None of this applies to me, this a bad video.

  • check out my videos

  • Great film...but youth these days have no respect only for their closest wether that be family or friends..discipline has long gone from schools where it all starts...no discipline no respect. ..even the people in this are saying they should have been kept underwraps more! says it all!

  • Anyone know the music used in this video?

  • Eh, i can't relate to most of these people.

The education system does have some problems though.

  • and its only going to get worse once torry come into power and cut funding to the education sector :/

  • I completely agree with this video..

  • I feel Satanism was and still is a great belief since it is a acepting of anyone, no matter what you've done, it denies the existance of an afterlife, so your goals in life won't be restricted by fear of the distant future and it encourages the idea of respecting your enemies and fighting back if you aren't respected either, the right way of fighting though, not mindless gang violence.

  • Ok. Im just saying my views. The kid with the poem is probably the wisest kid there and just summed up teenage life. Personally I think Drugs should have been talked about as well without the biased "OMG DRUGS R BAD OKIES!?"

Just saying, I read a 'Educational' book on drugs and they had 5 pages on cannabis, yet only one on alcohol, and 1 on smoking. which of these 3 drugs have NEVER caused someone to lose their life. Cannabis.

  • this is brilliant, really really interesting to see young people's views... finally a place where we can see youth's true opinions of government and society. projects like this show teens have enough responsibility to possibly vote as this video shows strong but also incredibly intelligent views. oh and i also like the narrators voice (:

  • @ 2:18 dont worry, it wont.

  • This was a great idea! Will the keep going? I hope it just becomes something that is there for whenever the young have something to say.

  • Every comment in this video could have been made at any time in the last 50 years. Teens have never been able to talk to their parents! They've always felt frustrated and bored and frightened and disenfranchised. They've always slept around and got drunk/high. The details change, the broad picture doesn't.

  • I just pray that the young ppl now will work hard and become model citizens, and think for themselves instead of being weak and join gangs, be individual and think and work for your future.

  • I love this video, so direct & poignant it's unbelievable. I went through a hard time as a teenager with bullying & loads of other issues, so I can relate to those in the video.

  • No Children should be encouarged to vote Socilaism has been proven to decrease ambition and desire for people to better themselves. They should be encouarged to work hard, and have a chance of feeling worth and fulfillment.

    Very Nice Video!

  • I hate being a teenager, knowing that your family don't care who you are, as long as you stay out of trouble.

  • They should ban the Advertisements on Television about being thin because it brings overweight people or anorexic people down and may cause Suicide.

Bullying should also be made a crime you can get locked up for fined for or even be taken away from your family for.

  • dis was entertainin

  • How hard is it to use a condom? that ginger kid seems to find it funny when he talks about his part.

  • good video :]

  • So accurate, so poignant & direct. I sincerely hope we can see more of this in the future.

  • this can all be fixed with love understanding and empathy , find it in your self

  • Inspiring stuff, cheers. x

  • There's racism everywhere. Not just Britain. I'm Puerto Rican in the united states, and people act like I'm mexican lol

Even though i honestly look like a white tan guy. Even though you shouldn't have to, you've got to work for a spot in a society like this. It'll just make you stronger. Even though you shouldn't have to...

  • thats not exactly rasism i dont evem know what putero recan is its jyust a misunderstanding im sure noone means any offense by it

  • "and people act like i'm a mexican lol"................ yeah. racism is evrywhere

  • Wow one of those girls is like me i left school a couple of weeks ago just to get away from the bullys ive started my own life now without them and ive never been as happier

  • Really really good video, opens your eyes..

Whats the name of the song at the start please?

  • Whats wrong with UK if you take away politics and money ??

  • Whats wrong with UK ??

  • Political correctness wins again. Let's attack the "selfish" government, let's call for socialism, let's show our unified HATRED for those who would be pro-Iraq. I'm 16, I'm well educated, and this shit makes me angry... let's face the real problems in society. Not "prejudice" or those who are pro-Iraq or think that youngsters are violent (they most certainly can be, I should know), but the terrible living conditions that breed such crime and ignorance. This video doesn't change anything.

  • Ok now anything thats good about being a teenager..........I remember skateboarding, drinking games, football, in fact loads of stuff .........

Growing up in your twenties is pretty sweet but back in the day was really good well most of it !! anyone agree ??

  • there's something seriously wrong with the fact that this only has 339 views.

  • this so explains my life in britain!

i know this sounds stupid, but, i love the narrators voice!

  • Lol me too!

  • I'm so glad that we have finally been given a voice. People see us teenagers as violent and gang members. But even if a few of us are- why should that effect the majority? Everyone is a teenager at one point.

  • support socialism! =]

  • I hate crap like this.

  • Such an amazing video guys. Frickin brilliant job :)

Has this been put on tv at all? Because this is definitely something I would expect to see on Channel 4; and i would love to see this broadcast for more people to see, take in, and learn from.

  • Damn right guys. That was absolutely fantastic,

  • I couldnt connect with this video, the people in it, or the views expressed within it. Everyone speaking on this video, bar one or two, seemed to be talking from the opinion of living in a multi-cultural city. Like many, I dont come from a multi-cultural place and I'm not surrounded by other cultures - how can I embrace them!? More importantly, how can I embrace a culture of my own, that I can find? Ive been told we have suffered a diaspora. Also, choice is a farce, especially in politics. Peace

  • :) about time

  • the girl at 2-23, but to all of you - my heart goes out to you all. Please wake up everyone to the problems which end up facing us all. take care x

  • BVargas78 just because were young it doesnt mean were going to be brainwashed

  • This video is brilliant-it tells the TRUTH of what teenagers go through and how schools only focus on the kids that don't give a damn. great work, 5 stars.

  • its nice to see young people have a voice. we need adults to listen and understand that we're not all bad.

  • Lotsa Wisdom! Should be aired on primetime.Every politician should watch this before becoming one.

  • You guys deserve a GOLDEN GLOBE! for this!....Truth from the HEART!..I will be passing this on! x

  • I've never met an intelligent person who once they properly understand it has rejected socialism. However, what worries me is how a few of the people in this video clearly don't understand how the world actually is; take the girl complaining about MPs expenses. It just highlights how we can all achieve the best that we can through a stable education system. We need to ask ourselves why we are fighting unnecessary wars of our own creation when there is so much that could be done at home.

  • Beautiful stuff.

  • Britain is a broken society and young people are out of control. The Government should bring back the cane and every person at the age of 16 should be forced to complete national service. In the future this country will fail because the youth just spend all of their time getting binged, wasting their lives on Facebook and trying to do stupid things. If you look at our grand parents grand parents they lived in a time where there was no NHS or dole system yet they built the world's largest empire

  • you seem to think youll be teens forevr.

    ahahahahahahhhhaaaaahahahaha

    HA!

  • I don't see how this will do any good? Just seems all to idealistic.

  • So inspiring :)

  • sad patronising,ageist,selfish,me,me,me culture,

  • Always praising the negativity. Is it any wonder the world we live in today. The way to get noticed is to be bad. The way to be involved is to hate.

For christ sake people. This is what is wrong. Videos like this.

  • People say to me, I dont have a life because all I do is sit and play computer games. But his here has just proven, that not many do.

At least my life is my own, I get to choose what I do and when I do it.

No one should control your life but yourself. I as bullied, but I ignored it. There is no one my life was going to be forfeit to this world.

Which is why I think this video is a load of crap. Always praising the negative. This entire generation focusis on Negativity.

  • isn't socialisim giving the state todal and absolute power over us and our very posessions

  • 2.20 what time u go to school at?

  • WOW...

Thank you for at least attempting to show the worl that the teens who are featured in the media are not in any way representative of anything more the than the extremities of our generation .

  • Vote Communism

  • saddam, lenin etc, were socialists. The last thing we need are socialist leaders over the country. I had many socialist inclined/ socialist teachers and it was the worse run school. Socialism lacks any clearly defined method- its just a pipe dream from the 60's. The new generation 2day, we need to come up with our own ideas NOT socialism (some idea that old ppl are trying to bring on us so that THEY can live out their old dream which failed back then).

WE DONT NEED UR IDEAS PLACED ON US

  • black britain is in a crisis

  • amazing video

  • great vid :)

  • People grow up too fast because their pressured to do drugs and have sex and drink. People feel that they would be left out so the join in. When i went into my first year of high school, i couldn't believe how much people changed, it made me feel sick, everyone was bitching about each other and fighting.

    I hate growing up :/

  • Kids should be seen and not heard

  • This was fantastic x

  • 8:27 She is exactly right!

  • this does truely express teens speech if only ur opinions increase to the adults to here us and to listen to wat we think :)

    amazing Videooo!!!

  • Had teenagers been given more, this wouldn't have happened.. Not an excuse.

I did well in primary school and moved towards the gang sorta life in years 7,8 and 9... But I kinda saw that where is it guna get me? Prison? No job?..

It was also after my dad's stroke that I kinda realised it needs to stop, to care for him... So years 10 and now 11, I'm settling down and getting on with life, rather than the gang life which won't last more than a couple of years for those involved.

  • true

  • charity lacks the resources to change the system but politics can if we support socialism

  • Socialism ???!!! Are you Joking look what the labour government has done----the rich become poorer AND the poor become poorer.

Study history before you preach something as serious as what your suggesting----Vietnam, Soviet Union, CHINA, North Korea everything the Western world hates...........A socialist Utopia will never exist the world is as corrupt as it was 1000 years ago nothing has changed. NOTHING

MONEY is the problem a paralysing effect of society, Capitalism, Free market the way

  • @AirLockBelsen My friend - New Labour is not a socialist party, and hasn't been for more than 10 years. You state Vietnam, the USSR, NKorea, etc. None ever ran socialist policies, China is now more capitalist than the USA, and all the others were run by lone sociopaths. The `free market way` that you preach has left two and a half continents in the proverbial. This is how capitalist is - it is a predatory system. The alternative is called civilisation. Look at the world as a whole.

  • You know, the only way money is made in the global economy is through debt. If we carry on like this, we're just heading for a huge plunge. Don't pretend that capitalism has no faults; it has it's benifits, but theres no denying that one day we will have to change.

  • Labour isnt socialism.

  • @AirLockBelsen You are referring to extreme socialism (eg. communism)

Socialism like the labour party DOES WORK! Only because the media talks it down and then suddenly people think parties like the tories or the BNP are the answer and forget what happens before!

Look what happened in the 80's and 90's, massive un-employment (worse than now!), and they do nothing for average people like us, the general public!

  • Actually the government just has a different definition of unemployed. Their definition is "one who is willing and able to work and currently has no employer". This definition doesn't include people in things like incapacity benefit.

Just compare the unemployment statistics to the amount actually spent on the benefits system: £189Billion being spent on 2Million people? No; the actual number of people on benefits is closer to 7Million than 2Million.

  • Regardless of teen views the world will not be changed if the freemarket and capital sysytem ceases to use oll opportunity for its advance.

I have met a few gang members and far as I know all of them are led by older men who invest in these businesses whether drugs or prostitution.

Capital system made this world what it is but it could be much better
