Good old Whites Road for spotting. Best spot there , well the other end was good too but the MPs kicked ya out if you parked. I remember sitting in the Zellers parking lot and watching the Antonov take off once.
Awesome shots of the back of CFB Trentons' airstrip! Brings back good memories of the time spent there and these amazing planes. I remember being in Gr. 10,hearing this loud noise and looking outside to see the sunlight gone. You could look up and see this huge Russian jet floating over the school as it gets ready to land. Something I'll always remember.
Thanks for the nice comment! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Youtube is telling me the video is popular and I can start showing ads on it now... but I just don't know. Seems strange to me.
The Russian plane that took-off is a Ilyushin-76(IL76). They were designed to be bombers but are now used for cargo. There is a lot of them at Dubai international airport. They're really load!
HA! I was on the base when it arrived! It really is amazing seeing something that big flting. A lot of the fields are being fenced up because of major changes. They have over 500 million dollars that they are spending on new stuff:JTF2 is supposed to be getting 200 acres in Trenton, along with tons of other stuff.
now you can't even park there they have a fence blocking the empty field. stupid military!!! no harm was done there just people enjoying planes.... what nexted!!!!
nice video, they have that parking area fenced off now so nobody can sit and watch the planes come in. that field was not doing anyone harm.... damn military!!!! what nexted?
Ha ha, i was there too when it came in, I was across the street at the Trenton Air Cadet Summer Training Center doing my basic course. Two days prior i flew in a CC-150 Combi ( an a320 with some seats missing)then on the sunday, after this, I GOT TO GO TO THE CHRISTENING CEREmONY WITH DINNER!!! It was so cool we got to touch the plane and everything
C-17 can crry what the IL-76 cannot, such as large earth moving equipment for winter emergencies such as you folks might see in blizzards, ice storms, etc. It can also carry tanks, which an IL-76 isn't able to do, not being a wide body cargo carrier :)
I was at the abbotsford airshow and saw it static on the runway just about an hour after it had landed on canadian soil for the 1st time. Then I got to watch it head out to ontario on its 1st Canadian soil take-off. Proud moment for us Canadians!
If you're a Canadian- how come you have the name "F15EagleDriver"? hehehehe...Canadian Forces Air Command doesn't haven F15s unless you're just another snotty, upstart little kid who likes American F15s. (rolls eyes)
GREAT VIDEO!!! I was on this first flight from Abbotsford to Trenton, as a member of the group of "everyday heroes" assembled as part of the PR effort to introduce our new baby in Abbotsford and Trenton(I was the Canadian Ranger in the old style OD pants and red t-shirt). It was one of the coolest flights I've ever been on, and this is the best thing that could happen to the Air Force, some new kit that will increase the independence and effectiveness of the CF.
I am happy that we are able to enjoy the freedom of "public aviation sightseeing". In the States you can never ever go near an airport to watch or film planes. I pray we will not lose this great hobby, which my children are excited about.
I think we should have bought the new IL-76 instead of the over priced white eleghant C-17. I hope the people responsible for this enjoy the kick backs!
who said anything about buying russian...? canada would never buy russian which is pretty obvious in the aircraft that we fly. we pretty much wont even buy european
Ahhhhhhhh good old Whites Road, only place ya could sit under the approach and not have the MPs kick you out. Nice departure on the IL76. Used to watch the Antonov take off from the park by the end of RCAF Road.
I believe you are mistaken about the departing aircraft as being an Ilyushin-76. The Russians have not contributed to the Abbotsford Airshow for many years now. I think what you are seeing departing is the US Airforce's C-141 Starlifter
Your right they havent been a part of the airshow. But this was shot coming into Trenton its home base not Abbotsford. The IL-76 flies all the time out of CYTR with Skylink international the company that helps with equipement transfere to the Afgan mission
Thank you very much for posting your video. This is my brother, Major Jeremy Reynolds, flying. He's been a part of this project from start to finish, and is based at CFB Trenton. Because we live in Alberta we don't get to see him "in action" so this was a treat to see. Thanks again!
People getting that excited over one plane? A cargo plane? Canada's Air Force must really suck. Not the pilots, but the equipment... seems outdated. What's the deal?
Why do people go to airshows? Planes excite them, especially big ones like the Globemaster. Our air force isn't outdated at all especially now since were replacing the old Hercules aircraft with the Globemaster. We had some older shit in the whole military thanks to underfunding from the liberals, but there not in power anymore ;)
Merci Scriptures pour la video BIENVENUE au canada AU C 17 :) enfin, at last , il nous aidera a un temps de reponse TRES RAPIDE a l aide internationale lucky to be the first canadian landing in our land bye to all in b.c. from quebec
