Brilliant. I saw Yes back in 2004 for thir 35th anniversary tour. They were amazing. Rick is great. I've always been a fan. He is the reason I now play keyboards.

@masterd000 That's fucking idiotic and irrational. That's like saying "Sure, the concept of shooting yourself in the head is old! Just as old as the concept of going to the shooting range to shoot guns! I am fucking sick of people going to the shooting range to shoot!"
Just because it's old and common, doesn't mean that it is as acceptable as other concepts that are old and common. Please tell me how "going to a website to watch a video" is equivalent to "spamming a retarded joke".
@crazanator I believe that those 19 people actually did choose to "Unlike" this because of the video quality. Not because they do not like Rick Wakeman or this video content itself. ; )

that was from their 2004 tour i believe.....35th anniversary tour, i saw them in Dallas. That was the tour that wore out Jon and his health declined afterward. I"M really glad i caught it!!
FACT: 50% of all animal species will be extinct in the next 40 years & humans will be lucky to survive this century. Lets get off YouTube and take some direct action. Copenhagen is looming and this could be one of our last chances!
Yep, Tony is second when you factor in overall creative body of work, and I think at times he played technically on a level surpassing any other keyboardists of the day (excluding Wakeman of course) In the 70's I saw on a number of occasions: Wakeman, K minear, T Banks, E Jobson, and K Emerson perform live with their bands. Emerson was the least impressive of all these guys, maybe due in part to ELP being somewhat sloppy live compared to these other bands (sorry ELP fans)
Yeah, Rick Wakeman Is Really Great Keyboard Player, But Don´t Forget About Jon Lord, Ken Hensley and Keith Emerson,,,, (legends)... :) and one man from Slovakia Marian Varga... Check It Out
yep, well said! I am a lifelong Jon Lord fan & met him several times (even crunched his fingers when i shook his hand once) But i love wakeman too & he is so funny! Planet Rock sat mornings!

He's showy but where's the musicality compared to the keyboard in "Lazy" by Deep Purple or "Light my fire" by the Doors? I don't hear it. Pyrotechnics only go so far.
Pyrotechincs onlyu go so far????? What the hell are you smoking??????? Don't get me wrong John Lord & Ray Manzeric are both excellent players in their own right & there is a lot of Musicality as you put it in Ricks playing. Wakeman is not showy he is technical to say the least & alot of classical influence is shown in his playing. If you realy want a strange keyboard album to listen to try & find " I'm so straight I's a weirdo" it's roller rink muzac from the 80's
I don't think Emerson and Wakeman can really be compared as "who is better". Well at least I don't think of it that way. They're both GREAT and have influenced me personally. They're both very different. Apples and Oranges.
That all being said, I think I personally prefer Wakeman's music to Emerson's, but I listen to BOTH all the time.
Rick said on Planetrock (his radio show) a while ago that people comparing him and Emerson was like comparing some top soccer player against some top Cricketer; that is, they are both of differing influences and most of all, they are musicians, not bloody sportsmen!lol!
well, to bring a musically c00L line of 'some' connectivity from Wakeman to Emerson-- via other dudes but what the heck-- i saw Yes waaay back {uhh, like 3 decades ago, wh3w} then i got lucky again & saw HOWE w/ ASIA in '82.. yeah ASIA wasn't near the brilliant music of ELP or YES.. but it WAS damn c00L to see Steve Howe perform ye ole classic solos,, live onstage while the other dudes took a break.. pure Howe.. like ye ole days of YES.. THANX for posting the gr3at WAKEMAN music & vids =][=

that was from their 2004 tour i believe.....35th anniversary tour, i saw them in Dallas. That was the tour that wore out Jon and his health declined afterward. I"M really glad i caught it!!
rosskstar 2 years ago
@rosskstar yeah it was sad to see them July last year and it was Oliver Wakeman and David Benoit (but they did a good job).

Sim, sem dúvida, o melhor tecladista de todos os tempos, senão o melhor músico.
Yes, no questions, the best keyboardist ever

Check It Out
idontknow7221 2 years ago
yep, well said! I am a lifelong Jon Lord fan & met him several times (even crunched his fingers when i shook his hand once) But i love wakeman too & he is so funny! Planet Rock sat mornings!

In my opinion,Rick has two magic performer hands....but Keith is also a great composer!
However it's impossible to compare them
Mozart61 2 years ago
The most melodic keyboard player, he has written some really beautiful tunes, which will stand the test of time and be future classics!
...and a great comedian too!

He's showy but where's the musicality compared to the keyboard in "Lazy" by Deep Purple or "Light my fire" by the Doors? I don't hear it. Pyrotechnics only go so far.
JoeyFudd 2 years ago
Pyrotechincs onlyu go so far????? What the hell are you smoking??????? Don't get me wrong John Lord & Ray Manzeric are both excellent players in their own right & there is a lot of Musicality as you put it in Ricks playing. Wakeman is not showy he is technical to say the least & alot of classical influence is shown in his playing. If you realy want a strange keyboard album to listen to try & find " I'm so straight I's a weirdo" it's roller rink muzac from the 80's

Emerson has nothing on Wakeman?
I don't think Emerson and Wakeman can really be compared as "who is better". Well at least I don't think of it that way. They're both GREAT and have influenced me personally. They're both very different. Apples and Oranges.
That all being said, I think I personally prefer Wakeman's music to Emerson's, but I listen to BOTH all the time.
bubblabu 2 years ago 5
